I pulled the trigger on the Infocus X1

    1) You might try setting the X1 to Native aspect mode for regular TV. This produces a smaller image and it may look sharper (no scaling). 2) It depends on your DVD player. Is it capable of Progressive Scan (480p) output? The X1 has Faroudja DCDi for deinterlacing, which may be better than...

I pulled the trigger on the Infocus X1

It's too long when you realize you haven't gone to bed for several days in a row. But seriously, you can (in theory) use it continuously for days at a time as long as it is getting adequate cooling (clean the filters and don't block the vents).

I pulled the trigger on the Infocus X1

Gordon, you or your friend might also find some useful details about the X1 in the draft FAQ I'm trying to pull together (see my .sig). It is a collection of information from several sources and still needs a lot of work, but it is already becoming a useful resource.

I pulled the trigger on the Infocus X1

You don't say which Samsung model you have but I browsed through a manual for one model and it appears to me that the S-video output of your deck is only connected to the DVD Player module, so that is probably why only DVDs are working for you now. To get output from your VCR module (and the...

I pulled the trigger on the Infocus X1

I guess dropping frames isn't a big deal if you're just using it for email and browsing, but unless you have a reason to want to run 85Hz I think 60Hz would be better. I suspect what they are trying to say at the InFocus site is that they can't handle any other signal format at 85Hz other...

I pulled the trigger on the Infocus X1

Just to address a few recent posts... Turning off the white segment will not effect the sync rate, Scott. And the X1 color wheel never runs at 1x speed, it is always at 2x speed. What you read about it running at different speeds depending on the source material is that (for example) for...

What method do use to connect your X1?

I agree that you probably aren't missing out on a lot by using straight S-Video instead of 480i component (assuming your S-Video cable is decent quality). But if you ever decide to upgrade to a progressive DVD player make sure it has a de-interlacer that is as good as the DCDi built into the...
