I think there was a very similar post on here not long ago about someone wanting dorm room speakers, you may want to try to find his. Personally I quite like paradigms, good speakers for the money, for $1000 you should be able to get a pretty decent setup. Titans for the fronts a cc170 center...
I figured I'd throw in my 2 cents, as a college student who is buying a HT, I had a DVD player $200ish Bought a panasonic sa-he100 6X100 amp $250 A pair of used sound dynamics floorstanders $200cash then a pair of paradigm titans and a cc170 center $415 I have an old 27" TV $50 I am...
I have figured out part of the problem, only one side works (either right or left). When I have it really quiet I can hear both speakers, but as I turn it up the volume on one side drops to nothing while the other increases normally. So if all else fails I have two working channels.
I don't have a lot of options on where to connect what. Hehe, binding posts, thats funny, I've never seen speaker wire inputs like these. I think when I first bought it the volume worked for the tuner, but I didn't test anything else. My choices for inputs are tape1,2 or phono I believe. I am...
I bought a cheap old amp, and would at some point like to use it perhaps for some bass shakers. When I plug speakers into it and an input source, I get sound out of the speakers really quietly, and the volume control won't adjust the volume, could this be a simple fuse? Any Ideas? If I have to...
I bought a pair of the Paradigm Titans with a matching center, for $415 Cdn + tax, The paradigms are a great little speakers, I have two floor standing sound dynamics speakers with 2 8" woofers in each, and I'm not sure which I like better. Titans are a great speakers for not too expensive.
I like to watch movies really loudly, however I like in a basement suite. I was wondering if there is anyway of dampening the sound from going straight through the ceiling, without any construction. I live below my parents if need be I'm sure minor construction is ok, but the less the better. Thanks
I bought a new video card for my PC with an S-video out, my TV is still waiting for an upgrade, I was wondering if there are any cheap ways to convert an S-video signal to a simple cable input or composite video? Sorry I found the answer by searching, how bad will the picture look by using a...
I have done some brewing of my own beer, but I have always done it at a store, the first type I tried was god awful. Did it in college had them high-test it, (more sugar, more alcohol) man was that bad. My dad make a Corona style beer at a local place, and it's darn good.
I'm thinking I will go with a tempest, seeing as I can buy one from near here with cheap shipping. And the rythmic amp seems like the best bang for buck, now all I have to do is wait for g/f approval and $$ hope to start the project in mid-August. If anyone has either of these used for sale let...
Thanks Ya I know where I can order the tempest from in BC so that's good. How is rythmic audio to deal with? I'm kinda new to this whole internet buying thing.
My room is approximately 15X15 it but it has two extra 6x2.5 too make it kindof like a T with a fat stem. If that makes sense. Oh and where is a good place to order the Rythmic amp from? I live in BC Canada.
Size isn't a huge issue, if I can build a better sub cheaper by using a larger enclosure then I'm all for it. The tumult and the maelstrom are a bit pricey, what would you suggest from the others u listed. It seems to me go with a rythmic amp most wattage, makes sense right? I will post the...
I was planning on building a pair of surrounds, but accidentally bought a pair of paradigm titans, oops. So the next project on the list is a powered sub. I'd like to try to build one, as price is an issue, I can do woodworking have the tools etc. I use my system for about 60/40...
The speakers I have right now for fronts are sound dynamics 500ti I think, they use 2 8" subsin a 3-way, thats why I thought these would be a good match, although slightly less wattage rating, surrounds don't use as much though so they should work good I think. My only real concern is...
I would like help in designing and building a pair of speakers. I was thinking of building these ones http://www.wadsnet.com/~dtenney/dayton_8MTM.htm I want these as my surround speakers, any comments regaurding the drivers, XO, or whether smaller would be better for surrounds. I listen to...
Right now I have a Panasonic 6X100 amp SE-HA100. And two sound dynamics Titanium series 500Ti. I am pretty new to all this but I like what I have. I want to add a center and surrounds. I was looking at PSB's image 9c and 5T's but have been told 5T's might be overkill for surrounds and instead go...
These are two choices parts express gave me for the woofers. Any thoughts? Part Number: 290-088 PIONEER W25GR31-51F 10" BUTYL SURR WOOFER Power handling: 90 watts RMS/130 watts max * Voice coil diameter: 2" * Impedance: 8 ohms * Frequency response: 26-6,000 Hz * Magnet weight: 30 oz.. *...
I bought a pair of Sony SS950 and want to replace the drivers, just use the cabinet. It has been brought to my attention that it may be hard to do the crossovers. I don't know alot about speaker building but would like to try. The woofer is a 10" and I believe the tweet is a 4 inch but sits in a...
Im definately willing to start from scratch, if necisary. But I had hoped to be able to use the cabinets since I already had them. Any suggestions for relatively inexpensive surround speakers would be great. DIY or otherwise
I bought an old pair of sony speakers. I now realize are more or less useless. $15 what can I expect. But the cabinets are pretty sturdy. I'd like to replace the woofer and tweeter. What are some good not stupidly priced woofers? I also need some suggestion for a tweet, I think it's 3 Inches...
I live in a fairly small town, I dont think there are any stores here that sell stuff for DIY projects ie) Drivers amps etc. I know I can order them but that just seems like a pain. Can I use car woofers for a powered sub for my HT. It seems to me cheaper to buy woofers and amps designed for...
CSC is where I was looking Im only about 2 hours away from where they are. When I get the cash Ima order the EZSub17TDT but with the AVA 250 I think, $100 cheaper than the other amp that normally comes with it. This will be enough power for the sub right??
I want to buy some new surround speakers and a center channel, I was looking at PSB image 5T's and 9C I was wondering if I would be better off buying the 3LR and a powered sub with a 8C for a center. Would it be a waste of money to buy such big surround speakers?
What amp did you use?? I was looking at ordering a full kit to build a sub. With a Tempest and an AVA 250 if possible I found a kit with a diff amp for $600 emailed to ask about substituting for the AVA 250 which is $150 cheaper than the other amp. I figure if I can get a ready to assemble...
