I just read my post from awhile back and I decided to check your theater out. congratulations! Your plans sound great and everything looks good so far. Do you plan on any type of curtains or theater seating? I can't wait to see pics when it's complete (although they are never complete). Oh yeah...
thanks, I won't. Do these speakers actually have a flat frequency response as advertised or are they just saying that? I need something to keep me happy until i get Fluance.
I'm glad you mentioned those because I was looking at them to possibly buy. I'm kind of unhappy with the way these perform. They seem to be very inefficient. i did a quick frequency response test and it fluctuates up to 7 decibels. They rated them to go down to 80hz but it really starts around...
I just redid my room. Tell me what you think of it. My Theater The curtains look alot better than what the picture shows. They look exactly like velvet. Total cost did not exceed $2000 (I don't think).
Hi guys, I just finished rearranging my bedroom theater. I just put in a futon that I use for my bed. Anyways, after hanging my speakers and moving all my components to the other side of my room I realized that I had a big blank wall. Not only does this look bad but it also ruins my acoustics...
I think best buy is running a special on Rockford (If he wants some subwoofers). You can get an amp and two subs for 300 dollars. All you need then is a dual sub box (like $79). For brand new you can't beat this. I would definitely check on Ebay first for Volfenhags though. IMO, Pioneer makes...
I found what I was looking for. It's a H/K AVR-320 and I found it for under $350 reconditioned. It's the same as the 325 but you need a separate amp to run the surround backs and it is 55 watts per channel instead of 50. It has everything I need and want except more than 75 watts per channel...
Thanks guys for the help. I looked at the H/k receivers and the one I am looking at is a little out of my price range. I think it will be worth it if I save. The problem is that the receiver would be in a very enclosed area. I have built a fan into the back of my cabinet, but I'm not sure it...
Well guys, I just bought my receiver but I caught the upgrade bug (I wish they had a vaccine). Anyways, I need help choosing one. Originally I was looking at the Sony STRDE995 but now I've read that the amplifiers are a little weak, is this true? This is what I need in the receiver -Less...
The Sony STRDE895 is what I'm going to be upgrading to. It only cost $300 and it supports high definition. It also has 6.1 capabilities. The reason I recommend this is is because the low end Pioneers have weak amplifiers. They sound thin and have high THD. I think that the Sony is the best bang...
OK, thanks for all your posts. I was thinking more of a smaller screen than that. I was thinking more to wards DVD because that would be the cheapest route to go. If I didn't charge the can to get in would it be legal? It seems that it would then just be a get together, like if you were going...
Well first of all I want to explain why. There is a local man in town that puts up huge concerts and events in our tiny little town (tonight it was Kenny Rogers in the stadium of my school). He charges canned food for a ticket and over 9,000 people "bought" tickets. Well I thought this was a...
480i is only what your TV supports, which is truly not HD. You may want to leave the component inputs open for a DVD player, but if you don't have one then go for the HD pack. I think it would be a waste though because you can't actually use the High Definition capability (since your TV does not...
Oh, My Bad. Sorry about that. I figured that if it had both decoders built in it had the 5.1 analog outs. I forgot to look and read under the part that said if it had 5.1 outs. Sorry again!
No, no, no. You've got it wrong. The Panasonic DVD player I recommended DOES have 6 RCA style outputs on the back of it, making it compatible with your stereo. That is why I recommended it. Understand now?:) :) :) ;)
Yes there is DVD players that have 5.1 analog outputs. The Panasonic I posted above has a Dolby Digital and DTS decoders built in. I posted a receiver, a DVD player with the 6 channel outputs and a DD and DTS decoder (about all the choices you have). Good Luck!
Are you using a HDTV? I was in the same situation as you. If you are not using a HDTV then you could cause yourself some problems. There are four HDTV formats, 1080i, 720p, and 480i/p. Basically if your TV doesn't support any of these then just buy the advanced a/v pack. It has an S-Video output...
You don't have to buy new speakers. The speakers you have now will work fine and are completely compatible with a brand new receiver. For the cost, though, of a new DVD player with a Dolby Digital decoder built in you could buy a nice new receiver that supports both formats. It's really up...
Does your stereo have 6 channel inputs on the back? I don't think this is the route you want to take. The decoders built into the DVD players with 6 channel outputs are no good for DTS and they add quite a bit to the price. I would buy a new receiver. It would cost about the same. Are you a big...
Alright, I'm 15 (and I'm jumping into this forum a little late). I've worked and payed for everything I have. I started my own disc jockey business and even payed for all my equipment there. I appreciate everything I have. Sometimes I just sit down in my room and stare at all the stuff;) ...
I'm glad you posted the manual Mike, it helps a lot. Yeah, just take an optical cable from your PS2 and run it to the stereo, that simple. I think you can get an 6' optical cable at Best Buy for under $20. I would only do it, though, if you are going to watch DVD's on your Playstation sense the...
If you want true 5.1 surround sound the only 5.1 surround outputs on the PS2 is the optical output. However, you will not have 5.1 in game play because the PS2 does not support in game Dolby Digital, only X Box does. But if you watch movies and there is an optical input on your stereo (what is...
Pat, that was what I was trying to tell you (but I was a little tired last night). Yes, just plug an RCA cord from the back of your new receiver and plug it into an input on your old receiver. I would take the plug and plug it from the old receiver into in the power output of the new receiver if...
Michael, I over looked that. Logic 7 is something that I haven't been able to hear yet, but look forward to it. Chris, I may be wrong. But, from the articles and posts I've read on the Internet (and its been a lot) they have all said that the surround channels use the matrix encoding that...
the problem with wiring the sub parallel with the front l/r speakers is that it reduces the impedance to 4 ohms. The Pioneer receiver you are talking about cannot run at that low of ohms and can over heat the amp. Is there a phono-type line output on the back of the receiverfor the sub? If there...
Dolby Digital EX (and I believe DTS-ES also, but not sure) uses matrix encoding. Matrix encoding was used first by dolby pro logic to create the surround channels. All it is is anything that is encoded out-of-phase in the two surround channels is sent the rear channels. The only difference...
do you think there is anything wrong with mine (other than the rear speakers, I've recently mounted them the way they are supposed to). Don't be afraid of being rude, I can take it:) .
