I like Amazon Prime, personally.
Netflix pissed me off because they gave streaming free, along with disc rentals, to people that signed up (when I signed up). Then they took it away when they decided they could make more money. It should have been "Grandfathered" in, for the people that was...
In the past 10 yrs., we've been to the theater maybe 7 times. So, I voted 1% - 30%. I guess it's actually less than 1%......... We saw The Hobbit at the theater. Probably won't go again until the next Hobbit movie at Christmas.
Doesn't the receiver have optical or digital coax input for audio?
Use HDMI from cable/sat box to tv for video, and optical or digital coax from cable/sat box to receiver, for audio.
but I kinda do.
My wife bought me the 7" Kindle FireHD for Christmas, with Wi-Fi. We bought a Wi-Fi router from Sam's Club right after Christmas. I mainly got it so I could finally use my cell phone somewhere other than by the dining room window. We live in a basement apartment, and only place...
I'll probably spend more time on the photography forums, and wishing I was a better photographer. I'm sure I'll catch a movie or two also, from Netflix, while anxious about HTF getting back online. :) Good luck surviving the time off everyone! Eat well, and drink plenty of liquids...............
We bought ourselves this Cisco router for Christmas: http://www.amazon.com/E2500-Advanced-Simultaneous-Dual-Band-Wireless-N/dp/B004T9RR4A/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1361575431&sr=1-1&keywords=Cisco+2500 I had never setup a wireless network before. The instructions in the box walked me through...
You WANT to see the "fake, almost camcorder" look? Why? I don't understand. If so, you bought the wrong tv! The reason people buy DLP tvs is to get the more film-like picture, instead of the video camcorder picture you get from the other tvs. Just curious.........
I've said for years......... the best way to get the film look on a new tv, is to get a DLP set. To me (my personal opinion), you can't get rid of the video look on a plasma, LCD, or LED. People are willing to fore-go the better picture, for the "cool factor", of being able to hang the tv on the...
Surround speakers are the side speakers, in a 7.1 setup. The 6th and 7th speakers are labelled as "Surround Back" speakers in a 7.1 setup, when not using them for height etc....... The surrounds are the rears in a 5.1 setup.
Speakers are the most important part of your system. They should be the most expensive part too. Afterall, they are the sound. As long as you like their sound, no speakers are too expensive. Enjoy!
I used the Audyssey calibrations for my setup, and double checked with spl meter. The Audyssey settings were actually spot on, except I set the center channel a couple of dB higher. I also changed the speakers from large to small, though Onkyo uses different terminology. Good luck.
I used Audyssey to calibrate my system, and double checked it with my SPL meter afterwards. Except for Audyssey setting my speakers to "Large", it was spot on. I set the center speaker a couple of dB higher, to make sure dialog is loud enough, set sub to SVS' s suggestion, and everything is...
Sorry, but you are wrong. The 5.1multi- channel analog connections are the ONLY way, other than HDMI, to get the high definition audio from blu ray movies. This has been common knowledge for several years now. Connected this way, the receiver does NOT show Dolby TrueHD or dtsMaster Audio in the...
I also recommend the SVS subs. I bought their cheapest one (at the time), PC12-NSD cylinder sub, and it's amazing! I've heard lows I had never heard before, and feel even more of them. :)
See their current subs here: http://www.svsound.com/
Good luck with whatever you choose.
Onkyo is usually the bast bang for the buck. You may have gotten a bad one. It happens with all brands. I'd stick with the onkyos, one more time. If another is a problem too, them go with another brand. Then I'd go with a Denon. Denons tend to not be quite as user friendly as Onkyos.
If with...
Here's one too..............
It's an RC-1156, which the manual says it uses. This site says it's for an AVR-1912, so it's used for more than one model.

A little cheaper than eBay. Good luck.
No need to spend that much money on the cables. I'd get two sets of these: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10235&cs_id=1023508&p_id=960&seq=1&format=2
Five dollars is a lot less than $100, and they'll work just as well. I used these when I had a Denon DVD-2200...
Yeah, if your receiver has the 5.1/7.1 multi-channel analog inputs (Denon calls them EXT. IN) on the back, you should definitely be using the 5.1/7.1 multi-channel analog outputs from the Oppo, into the receiver. Afterall, they are the only way, other than HDMI, to listen to the dtsHD Master...
I hope someone will pick up and keep going with DLP, to keep the option alive. I think it's just plain stupidity to do away with the best looking pictures, for a tv that will hang on the wall! It's a TV! Not a painting or a photo! Flat panel tvs look like video, and DLP looks more like film, a...
Bose is not regarded very well in the home theater world. Go to any home theater forum and search for Bose, and see what people thinks of them. You should read this review. Click and read the links too.......... http://www.intellexual.net/bose.html...
Isn't the D5100 supposed to have the same processor as the D7000? Or is it the D5200?
If it's the D5100, your 55-300mm should work well for you. I have the D7000, and a Tamron 70-300mm (f/4.5-5.6) that does very well in low light.
I mainly use it for wildlife, but have used it indoors for Easter...
