I've heard both the Axiom M22's and the Onix ELT's but own neither. If I had to choose between the 2, sound quality wise I like the M22's better. Looks do go to the ELT's, in fact, I like the more traditional look of them over the Rockets. I would try to get 2 or all three in home to make a...
Sam, I was wrong about my Pioneer DV C505, it does have time remaining for the movie and chapter via an OSD. This Pio also has a resume and remembers where you left off even after being powered off. A nice feature I wish the Tosh had. What I like about the Tosh's OSD, on Widescreen movies, it...
Sam, My other player is an older Pioneer 5 disc changer. Sounds like Pioneer may have added this feature. I like how the Toshiba also shows a progress bar at the bottom when you hit the display to show time remaining.
I'd suggest looking at 3 pairs of the Athena AS-B2's from Amazon for about $450.00 shipped and adding a sub later or getting the Dayton sub from Parts Express for $125.00 plus shipping. Here are the links: Sub Speakers Good luck with your search.
Ed, Yeah, I only posed the question here because I had your ear so to speak. Looking forward to the PB10-ISD review, if I was in the market for a sub, I would be looking HARD at this one. Price is very tempting and I just may order one to find out what it is all about, but having 3 cats...
Ed, Yes I read that you are planning to do a review on the UFW-12 on AV123, but as far as I know, the release date on that sub is not known. Not sure what the price of the sub has to do with you doing a solo review. Was just looking foward to reading another thorough review from you. Guess...
Ron and/or Tom: You guys have one great looking product there according to the data you posted, I am very tempted to pre-order one. I have one question, is the grill on the front a fabric one?
I think there are 2 issues regarding the test that some people seem to be glossing over that needed to be addressed to make the test fair. Edward J M already gave them, the STF-1 should have been placed to take advantage of the same room gain the 550's had and the 340's should have been crossed...
Well the batteries that came with my NAD HTR-2 remote were really cheap, they lasted only about a week. The Energizers I used the second time lasted a little more than a month. I have found that if you reduce or turn off the backlighting of the remote, the batteries last a LOT longer. I turned...
John, I believe the person that quote is from is using an NAD T742 AVR, at least according to his earlier posts. While I have not heard the M3, I have heard the M22's being powered by an Onkyo 600 and Pioneer 45tx, and in my opinion, I also thought they were harsh on certain material when...
JerryMa, Did u read any of the thread I posted? The original poster had the M3's and CBM-170's in house to A-B, while it seems they are similar, there are differences to his ears. One thing to note from his posts, "I did try some higher level listening last night and found that I could not...
JerryMa, I run my 170's with a sub, I have a full Ascend HT setup. I mentioned them because they are about the same price and size as the M3's you had. This thread from the Ascend forum may interest you. I also thought the frequency response of both speakers was close, but since you are not...
Have you ruled out the Ascend CBM-170? From what I have read, they offer a similar sound to the M3's. I have heard the Axiom M22's, and found they could be harsh when the volume levels were pushed. I don't have this problem with the 170's.
Hello James, Here are some answers for you: 1) Yes with the Klipsch 2.1's, the amp in the sub powers the 2 sats. 2) Here is a link to making some better cables for the Klipsch 2.1's. I did this myself, can't say it made a difference in sound, but the mini-plugs on the stock wires were...
Have 2 older Pioneer players in the house and both have no problems with either format. Here is a good site to check media compatibility on various DVD players. Site
Well you can pick up a decent PC CD/RW just about every weekend from Best Buy, Circuit City, Staples etc. for $20.00 or less after rebate. Hell I picked up one for a friend on Black Friday for free after rebate.
Did you choose the DTS soundtrack in the X-2 setup menu? X-2 has both DD and DTS tracks. Sounds like you are trying to change the surround format thru the receiver.
Steve, out of your list I have heard the Axiom M22's, ELT's, and I own the Ascend 170's. I know you don't care for the look of the 170's, but I think they are the fullest sounding of this group of three, which is something you say you are looking for in a speaker. But you really don't have to...
That would explain Walt N's statement made back in early August when he first got the player: While experimenting with Yes-"Fragile", the opening acoustic guitar on "Roundabout" is directed to the L&R main speakers. With the bass management on, the bottom half of that guitar got redirected to...
Hello Brad, Not sure where in PA you are located, but I am in Philly and have an Ascend setup (4 CBM-170's, 1 CMT-340) that you are more than welcome to audition. Not trying to steer you away from your Axiom choices, but if you are interested in hearing the Ascends, just let me know.
KeithH, I was just at a Tweeter (DE) to see if they would be getting the 2200 in, they told me they would not, but they would special order it if I wanted one.
