I use the rhythmic amp, I got it before they started giving the option for the 24 db/oct crossover....I worked with the guy and he talked me through what bridges to joint with what capacitance values and I did the soldering at home.... Hence they offer it now cuzz he thought it would be a good...
I've considered using several planar tweeter rather than the traditional morel or dayton domes on several of my projects but as i've never heard such speakers, I have no way of justifying the cost of multiple expensive planar drivers. If anyone could enlighted me on their experiences sway me...
my recommendation would be to either build a lower Q design or get the more powerful amp... The 150 would probably do it though, I have a friend running a small sealed tempest off of 200 watts and it seems to like it. Though i do think it could take a little more...and its always nice to have...
Seems like another great sub from adire...I've read enought stuff on it but i was wondering if anyone here has actually heard one...looks like a beast (although if you're not limited to space, why a 12 for HT)
I was using this to as safety net basically because i don't always run the sub off of my receiver....like when i take it to a pary or something...The receiver adds the extra 12db/oct on its own for the sub out...but i don't get that benefit from most other sources cheers
well what in essence you made with that enclosure tuned to 45 hz is a SPL ported box, Your sub will sound louder around that tuning frequency but as you see will roll off quickly after that. If you want low bass extenstion you'll have to port to say 25 or 20 hz. In addition if you port to 45 hz...
Yes i'm using the rythmic audio amp in a 4 cubes sealed enclosure and all i can say is that i think I could get away with alot less power...my gain usually stays at about 1/3 never more than 1/2. I think that amp is a great match, I've had no problems, I did some custom soldering on mine thanks...
I don't really have pictures, but if you really need i can get em for you by this weekend....I basically made a perfect cube and its finished mirror black with a plate amp attached on one side....I like the perfect cube because I'm in graphic design and it matches some of my stuff well But...
thanks guys, you pretty much re-affirmed my thoughts...I'll keep my tempest untill one day when i'm not 19 and have a real job and can afford something spectacular so that i'll actually hear the fruits of my labor. Meanwhile the tempest is great in itself so i guess i can't complain. I'll focus...
If its any help I'm using a Tempest, The shiva's bigger brother and have it going between Q .6 and Q.5 alignment, somewhere like .57 is what i figured and it's working amazing for home theater and music likewise. I can't ask for more from a 150 dollar driver and only 380 watts. Considering that...
thats what i figured, that in real db's it wouldn't make much sense...If i had the room i'd consider a second tempest, but i don't The only reason i was considering it was because i'd sell my tempest and use the proceeds towards the AV15...I'm a poor college student what can i say... but...
Ok, here's the deal. I currently have a tempest in a box that is 4 cubes sealed and I'm quite happy with it...but I'm thinking of swapping the driver for an AV15 for a tad more output...would this help me out any at all given that I'll still be feeding it about 380 watts. I'm just looking...
just as a thought, dont limit your choice by whether a driver is shielded or not...large cancellation magnets and a little superglue can go a long way...just my 2 cents
Me and a friend are about to acquire an Adire Tumult and really need to figure out a solid design for a ported enclosure. We're thinking of a tune somewhere between 20 and 30 hz...I realize that 20 hz would entail a huge portlenght. I don't have the PR option as after the tumult money will be...
has anyone heard Elan Elite audio stuff, I have only heard these two midranges and they sound quite nice, i looked on their website and they sell some rather higher dollar stuff. I chanced upon these for a good price...
i was thinking 2 groups of eight, one on either side of the television, so they would be vertical, not standard by any means but it could be interesting especially since i move around alot when i listen and its mostly music. How bad will the comb filtering effect be, can i do anything to...
What kind of speaker is this and what amp are you using...I had a similar problem with a subwoofer once because i did some custom soldering on the amp and caused a voltage loop in one of the circuits causing the popping sound. see if the speaker makes the sound when the amp is on and you push...
I'm currently using a tempest for music in my apartment and let me tell you that it is quite musical. Everything from Bach and Vivaldi to Prodigy and Slayer...reproduction is as should be, footprint is not small though, around 3.8 cubes sealed
Ok well he's using around 1.8 cubes for the lyra and lots of stuffing which seems to me like something very different from what i modeled up...Using PE's own program...weird nice setup though
I'm building the cabinets, standard mdf hopefully golden ratio if they don't look too goofy, probably somekinda mahogany veneer... I'll probably look into that book as well, i've been meaning to get it... has anyone used these 10" drivers, i'm modeled them in different programs..the PE...
Yes i have built some 2 ways and tweaked and retweaked them, and i do know the basics of xover design. The 3ways will be a new experience but i'll have to jump into it someday...I have some prebuilt crossovers from some infinity reference speakers and i'll tweak the cap values and such as...
Hi, I'm just looking for any advice having to do with my current project... I bought sixteen 4" drivers (couple bucks a piece) to put in a line array configuration that i'll probably end up using as my center channel if it all works out ok. Fs of about 105 which is not too too bad, I can get...
I'm in the process of building a home theater setup, I already have some fronts wich will soon become my rear channels, Center channel is on the way, and I have a tempest sealed in about 3.5 cubes with about 400 watts. My three-way front towers will probably employ dayton 1-1/8th silk...
