Hey Mike. HTT was a great site back in the day. Wish I didn’t lose touch with a lot of guys there. I was a mod and I even won the Pioneer 563A you put up. Bru.
I have some quality pieces, but my avr is lacking. After buying many avr's, I gave up once HDMI came on the scene. I did purchase a Onkyo refurb TX-NR414 a year or so ago,but it doesn't quite match or have enough power. Being on a budget and two kids to put through school, a new avr is last on...

can anyone confirm if HD over component still works ? I would like to upgrade but would also like to be sure I still have this feature for when someday I retire it to a tv that has only component connection. its a nice feature to have and heard it might be disabled someday on future...
for $40 shipped I got this today and it works great. Amazon.com: Used and New: PTC 3-PORT HDMI 1.3 Certified Switch with Remote and Free 6ft GOLD Cable comes with a nice fat HDMI cable too, cool thin remote that hides on units recessed pocket. 3 in 1 out, using 2 on a Sony Wega XBR800 with...
I have my comcast HD box on my unit with no issues at all. the sony enclosures are pretty solid. I have not felt any sort of heat issues of either unit. now what I wouldnt do is stack the sony player on the tv box.
remember, those speakers you auditioned will sound totally different in your house. also, don't confuse crytal clear with bright. not saying the SVS speakers are brighter but sometimes less is more and the B&W just might be warmer which is a very good thing when it comes to 2-ch music.
I was going to mention his room, but I think SVS CS chimed in with help for that. yes , yes, yes and yes for everything greg recommended. I didn't catch that his speakers weren't apart at equal distance or height. that IS a big no no and as greg said, will not help imaging at all. another...
ya, I have heard of the use of pro tools. have read alot about music and the mastering, mixing and technics online. I try to understand why its done today. wasn't pro tools being used at the end of the 80's ? or something like that ? it is a shame tape isn't used anymore, but I heard even with...
my system's didn't cost alot if anything at all. my main vintage amp is a low end Integrated Kenwood KA-400 (free on craigslist). only 45WAC but it doesn't screw with the music. I own three different Onkyo theater amps and not one can touch my vintage low end amp for sound quality on old...
very smart my man. go demo for yourself and see what you like, the best way to do it. I am glad to hear you listen to quality music. I can never understand when I hear a young person today say old cd's are too quiet. yet with todays cd's I can barely get the volume past 1/4 the way up on...
to touch a but more....... my nephew who is an ipod freak heard me playing a great old sounding cd on my Large Advents. he shocked me by saying he thinks those speakers sound "GREAT", he said it again and again. he couldn't believe it when I told them how old they were (and how ugly the...
I truly don't believe young people REALLY like it, just thats what the industry has pushed to "stand out" and alot of kids only know what they have grown up listening to. I have shown some young ones the difference and when they realize it, they really are amazed. I believe there has been...
right on, bro! listen to any cd up until the mid 80's and most of it was mastered pretty flat and sounds really good. the late 80's and on is when it started getting bad, still even the late 80's cd's weren't too bad. no speaker in the world will make todays cd's sound good. hoepfully...
why do you assume bookshelf is what you want ? mabybe in your room a full range speaker is what you need. if music is really what you want, I don't care what anyone says. nothing beats a full range loudspeaker. my Paradigms are no slouch for towers either, they go very low and are large...
I bought into SVS early on, I love my 25_31PC+ and wouldn't trade it for anything. but the big mistake here is buying a 5.1 system for 2-ch music. I own Paradigm Monitor 7's (V.3), CC-370, Sapphire Surrounds and of course the SVS. its great for movies and SACD/DVD-A. but when it comes to...
thats where Onkyo shines, price & features makes them competitive in the market. they offer alot of features for price. Onkyo may not be as warm vs the others but they still put put very nice sound.
BTW: if I remember correctly, HK understates (or use to) their WAC. if I remember correctly from reviews I have read that sometimes testing came out higher in WAC than stated by HK. not sure now how they compare now, to how they use to make them.
I highly doubt with how easy to run the Paradigms are that you would run into distortion. for a while I was runnning my old Onkyo TX-DS494 on my setup and its only 55WAC and never did I have issues with distortion when I turned it up VERY high during movies or music. infact when I upgraded to a...
a warm amp would be best. the Paradigms can sometimes sound bright even for how great they are, matching is key. I run Paradigm Monitor 7 Towers (v.3), CC-370 Center, Sapphire Surrounds (Paradigm Surrounds were way too much around here, not reasonable at all), and a SVS 25_31PC+. I have been...
is this really a surprise ? not to me! it seems I have been treated very badly not matter how nice I am or how firm I am. nothing seems to work for me with CSR's. as for the Wendy's coupon, I am shocked a manager would rather argue with you than honor a lowly coupon. not very smart and...
