    Cornel Wilde's THE NAKED PREY

Naked Prey is owned by MGM/ United Artists. It has played on TCM. The UA titles are now going out through Fox and they seem to have stepped up releasing their older library titles. Naked Prey is still not on any upcoming release lists.

    Marriage Italian Style: Bungled DVD

I unfortunately bought the same DVD over a year ago. It was released by a company called Jef Films which puts out bootlegs of rare titles until they are forced to remove tham from the marketplace. I have yet to get even a barely passabe copy of anything from this company and would be extremely...

The Silent Partner (with Elliot Gould,Christopher Plummer) - who owns? any news?

It was originally produced by Cineplex Odeon out of Canada. Also producing on the film were the Carolco folks. The library ended up in bankruptcy court. I don't know if anybody purchased the rights, otherwise it is tied up in legal limbo in North America.

Johnny Guitar - what happened to the promised release?

We ran "Johnny Guitar" in 35mm back in May this year. We booked the print through Paramount. It looks like the home video division has little interest in handling the vault titles. Paramount has 35mm prints on many of the old NTA ? Republic library. We also booked "Invasion of the Body...

Any New Paramount Catalog Titles for 2006?

Paramount also owns the Terrytoon library (Mighty Mouse) via its acquisition of CBS and Viacom. CBS acquired all the Terrytoons around 1970, though I doubt if anybody at Paramount realizes they own it.....

"REBECCA" - Hitchcock classic why not at Warner?

The Selznick library was bought by ABC in the early 1980's. ABC was bought by Disney about 6 years ago. Some of the ABC films have been licensed to MGM (Now part of Sony) for DVD release. A few words about....Blu-Ray

I think this may be the death of the movie theaters. Probably they will do a simultaneous release in 35mm and HD video, pricing the buy price for the HD initially at $200, so a short rental would be $10. a pop, or the price of a theater ticket. Probably after 6 - 8 weeks the price would drop to...

Some "Blade Runner" info from Alan Ladd (producer)

Just to add further info to the "stew". Warners can no longer take theatrical bookings on "Blade Runner" either. I run a theater that runs old movies in Los Angeles and Blade Runner has been "out of service" as the distributors like to say for the past 4 years. You might have noticed no one as...

Films that you fear may NEVER be released on DVD.

I would love to see "La Dolce Vita" released R1 with proper letterbox. The South American version is dreadful. Paramount now owns this by acquiring the NTA/ Republic library. A collection of cartoons I've bugged Columbia for years to restore are the Frank Tashlin cartoons he did at Columbia...
