I don't know whether its a good match or not with Mini-monitors, but I have the ADP-170's with Studio 60's and studio cc and love it. The idea of these is create a large sound field and I think it accomplishes it well.
I have 60's and VSX-45. I have had a similar problem, but actual total dropout when listening at deafing volumes in a hot room. The Pio's have a protection circuit that could be cutting in but I doubt it. Have you experienced this with movies or music?
If you want an answer that means much, you need to be more specific about what models your looking at. Sony puts out recievers that are at both ends of the spectrum, good and bad.
My digital audio keeps dropping out on my PIO 563A while watching movies. I know its the DVD player bc I have switched it with my previous DVD player. In order to get audio back I need to turn it off and on. I kept it on top of my reciever (Pio 45THX) and I think the heat coming off the reciever...
Ok, tell me if I'm crazy but isnt the 40's easier to drive and more efficient than the 20's. I think power is overrated and you would do fine with either choice. I have the 60's/cc/adp with Pioneer 45-tx and just love it. Very sweet sound to my ears.
A while back there was talk of a Sacramento meet. I'd love to see it get going again. We could bring some equipment to compare/demo and of course watch a favorite movie. I'm hoping somebody would bring something that would make my wife go WOW, we need to buy that for us :)
I'm looking to have a TV on a rack by the Pool and Hot Tub. I live in No CA valley where the temps can get pretty hot although It would be mostly protected by the eve's of my house. I'm thinking a combi DVD player/TV might be nice. Any suggestions on models or pitfalls of outside TVs?
Definetly digital. You can enhance your workflow and lower costs. I definetly don't think you need an 11 megapixel camera to print an 16x20. Some good software as suggested can help interpolate and add pixels if desired, but for the most cases won't be needed. I've printed some with my 6mp...
I don't know a about you, but I would be very interested in a power buy on CF cards (does this forum do that?). After having some discs go bad on me I've had to invest in some very expensive solutions-- laptops to mobily download, review and save to hard drive and burn to CD. I'm looking to buy...
I too would suggest the D70. It is for most practical purposes equivelant to the D100. I use the D100 for my primary camera and have the D70 as back-up. The D100 has a few more bells and whistles and is in a more rugged construction. I would suggest to go with SLR than one of the newer prosumer...
Let me give also give two thumbs up for Sams and Walmart. If you can find somebody who prints on the Fuji Frontier printers you'll be doing yourself a great service. My wife is a professional photographer and sends her stuff via net locally but used to have them mailed to us. She's out doing...
I can tell you my local dealer had his Classe Demo's at a substantial discount (about 30%-40%). I wanted to pick-up one of those monster amps up, but I have other needs I need to take care of first. I dunno if all dealers are doing this but I couldnt help but look @ $1500 off an amp :D
I think I found a good weekend project. Once I get it all down I think I need to meet with an insurance agent and update my policy. I've been worried about this for a couple months and it's been bugging me. I almost hate showing off my theater to people I dont trust, and there are too many...
Throw me in the, might fiddle, if I wasn't too lazy camp. I don't have the energy to calibrate to individual CD's or sources. I am learning to mix for my church band so I'm getting to play with the sound board. Something about tactile feel of knobs, buttons and slides and automatic feedback that...
I too am starting my home theater project. I've already bought my projector an Infocus X1 which is well below the price you quoted. I don't know this is "the proper way", but since I will be doing a DIY screen, I'm chosing to estimate the throw distance etc, and mount it before I build the...
I'm thinking about buying an SVS (PB2+) for my garage I'm converting to a home theater. Yes, I know, the flat response is what makes SVS a step (or two or three) above most other subs. But if I want to crank up the volume on some hip hop etc--- a) Will I be able to tune the sub accordingly to...
I have a pair of Polk RT-4's that I bought about 10 years ago. I had been pretty happy with them, as they seemed so "revealing and alive" which is what brought me to them in the store. It wasn't until I brought them home and noticed a pattern developing. I would turn off the music about 30...
Most evenings, not Sunday am, but most Saturdays work well for me. I'm a nooBie so I don't have all my set up yet. I have a couple conference and having a couple parties these next couple weekend. So for the next couple weeks, definitely eves work best for me.
I just got back from my local store and was all set to by a new Hughes Digital DirecTivo. At a resonable cost of $249 or $189 I was about ready to go out a happy man...then came the warranty sell. Telling me about how many problems they have with these things and I shouldnt expect it to last...
I found this thread kind of interesting, although a bit more about philosophy than technology. I think all on this forum would agree that home theater equipment items are transitory as far as being state of the art. Daniel hit it on the head when he enjoys his equipment NOW. We, as humans, are...
I too live in the Sac area, and have DirectTV for the football package. I'm about ready to purchase "61 Samsung DLP, but what good is it if I can't pick up HDTV. Is Comcast sending HDTV for the local stations? Would I be best off just adding an antenea as well as getting an Direct TV HDTV...
I'm agonizing whether to pull the trigger on the PB2+. Here's the delemia, I'm not sure where my HT is going to be set up quite yet. Either in 10x11 xtra-bedroom that well sealed or a 16x20 family room with lots of leaks to kitchen, hallway, foyer. So not considering the cost, if I end-up going...
Thanks a lot, I appreciate the comments and link. For the time being, I'll try and find some good 8 ohm speakers that I enjoy. Just as a side note, I don't think I can pass up on getting an SVS sub, the raves on here are amazing. That'll be my next purchase. The HTF and the people here are...
I'm a newbie to this Home Theater realm, and have read the posts trying to learn as much as I can. To begin my system, I bought the receiver first, the Pioneer Elite VSX-45TX. Now I am trying figure out which speakers to buy for a 5.1 initial set-up. I really like the Vienna Accoutics--Bach's...
