Thanks. I've never seen any of the fan-transfers. I assummed they were moderate quality... but they look horrible. Very soft, even compared to the OUT release.
I'd say "power" and "point of view" are both pushing the links to the OT. Probably over-extending, and definitely some of Hayden's worst deliveries (though the lead-in to the duel was some of his best). I've always preferred the visual links than the verbal ones. You underestimate my power...
OBI-WAN: I can't watch any more. YODA: Destroy the Sith, we must. OBI-WAN: Send me to kill the Emperor. I will not kill Anakin. YODA: To fight this Lord Sidious, strong enough, you are not. OBI-WAN: He is like my brother ... I cannot do it. YODA: Twisted by the dark side...
All 3 losing composers were robbed - BBM was a 13 minute guitar piece. JW likely split his own vote, even though he put his press time into Geisha I truly believe Munich is a better (and less "self-derivative") score.
Why would it be the same people? I for one like to keep the winners to the criteria at hand, but I wouldn't counterpoint Kevin with "the same people don't like the lifetime achievement" argument.
After a long winter TLB has released an updated version of his great work on Symphony for a Saga.
It's a well done "best of" from the TPM soundtrack that should be heard by anyone that owns the original releases. It's not a cut up of cues, but a pretty clean and thought out suite.
I LOVED Archetype on first listen, right up there with Obsolete & Demanufacture for me. Still love it. I really like Fear Factory, but... man... this... album... sucks. There I said it. Maybe 3 good tracks. Complete disaster compared to Archetype.
For Ep1 & Ep2 starwarsshop.com offered both the single & double sided posters. For Ep3 I only saw the double sided for sale so I don't know if there's an official 1 side. Let me know, as I only have the 1st 2 single sided and would buy it for Ep3.
Tim you didn't touch on Utaapau, even once! I love the music for these scenes, especially the Cruiser hanger and Obi-Wan's approach - it's all PT variations of Rebel alliance music and it's a shame it didn't make it to the OST.
I'm interested in BB v FF because of the different film and marketing positions - which will do better in the end? I hope BB continues to do well, and I'd expect we'll start to see more Batman movies with the same talent.
Nice... admin trolling! This is the box office thread.
News came out about a month ago, buried in a SW thread. FWIW, Burtt was specifically contracted for the PT. He worked outside of ILM/SS & LF before the PT and he had no plans with them afterward.
^good to know though, it's easily become my favorite piece of the PT. It works so well in the movie - once it kicks in I really feel at the apex of the PT and going into the OT.
In the latest super/archive/extended dvd rumors, started over at the OT site, it's guessed that Ep3 will get no more opening space battle, order 66, or the duel... Just more Kashyyyk. There you go Chuck, happy bday!
hmmm... I love movies, and these movies have been a real good thing to me. Escapism at it's best, the OT ushered in my 1st 10 years and the PT my most recent 10... it has been a good ride, and I never get emotional at movies - but each one of these brings back strong memories, and makes me smile.
^Yeah, but a decade is definitely long enough to start factoring in dollar inflation for older movies... Good to see BB win the weekend against the competition, it would have been interesting to see WotW came out this weekend. My gut is that one isn't going to do too well (definitely more...
Tom, I have many OT theater memories. I was very young and my family was with me every time. The clearest memory is my dad getting mad at me during ROTJ for running to the washroom when Luke was giving himself up on Endor... he was certain Luke and Vader we're going go at it right there...
Scarificed Sons is the only week track, suffers from DTitis (~3 minutes too long). 1-6 are standouts, with These Walls the king. Octavarium is nice but could have been 7-8 minutes shorter (even with a substantial intro). As I said in the last thread, after hearing this i now believe they...
The studios are hoping that next week will put an end to the slump Terry, you may as well put this in your signature... we're almost 1/2 through, and while the nov/dec fare looks great it's just not going to be $$$ like last year.
^ I agree with Paul, as much as I'm not interested in FF it's been getting some good marketing play during the NBA finals, etc. BB started with a nice interest generating marketing scheme, but unfortunately it never changed to really get everyone interested to the point of showing up.
I remember reading somewhere (making of? probably the internet) that Anakin was going to force hurl lava at Obi-Wan... it was probably dropped - how would Obi stop that?! Also early animatic spoilers had the 2 helping eachother survive agains the elements a lot, obviously cut. Seen it 2x...
Great, great looking trailer. Personally, I hate to react to any film just because who's acting in it... but I just can't see past Colin Farrell. He really looks like he's playing himself (again). As comparison, I've seen 4 Bale movies (5 in a few days) and I've never seen the same...
I love TOT because I definitely am into DT for Progressive METAL, the main shortcoming is the length of the songs. Each one (except Vacant) could lose a few minutes because they don't really go anywhere after awhile. That's where Octavarium shines IMO, the songs don't ramble on.
^ perfect quote! It structured like it's right off of Tales from Topographic Oceans. I'm not a fan of the title track, not too prog for me, but it never finds substance. I also don't like the news feeds on SS (or The Great Debate on 6DOIT). Otherwise, the 1st 6 songs go by effortlessly...
I noticed that "I'd rather dream about Padme" line too, it really got a chuckle out of me because it's one of the links I totally forgot about. While ROTS borrows a lot from TPM, there's a lot of AOTC in there too.
I've come to the conclusion that everything in ROTS relates to the other...
