The upscaling is important, but both have more than enough hdmi inputs. I was curious which one sounds better. I am going to drive 75 miles tomorrow to listen to the halcro. I have not heard the Anthem on 2 channel nor have I heard the newer arcams on either 2 channel or video. I have been...
For 5-7 channel Home Theater and 2 channel music, with pass though and upscaling options, which one is better? I know this can be subjective, but anyone with a Halcron or Anthem please chime in. I have a chance to buy a Halcron this weekend.
Sounds good, but what if the files are lossless or flac which tend to be much bigger files. Can the flash drive handle 500 of them? Is there a menu on the Anthem to the TV that will present them like a GUI so that I can pick songs out at will? I dislike mp3's unless I am on my ipod or something...
Sorry to hijack the thread, but can this HD PVR from Hauppauge send stuff from my dish network, and save them to my PC? From what it looked like, I can watch and record HD content, than transfer the movie or show straight to my computer, and rewatch it or keep as a movie file? Sorry to ask this...
Ok great, thank you so much for the input. Can the anthem decode this stuff? How should I run the computer with the anthem? Is there a way that the anthem can decode and just take the file to play though the computer and not let the computer decode? Yeah I am hunting high and low for a D2V or a...
Ok here is my deal. I have been putting together a new system for myself. It's going to be used as a home theater system primarily but will also need to be used as a high end 2 channel set up. Here is what I am working with. I just bought an Arcam 150-7 fmj p-7 amp. I have Acoustic Zen Adagio...
Yes exactly, I know you're correct. I'm starting to wonder if I do have true lossless audio stuff to begin with. It sounds a lot better than the mp3s but not as good as going to a high end stereo store and listening to sacd's or LP's. I guess I was trying to replicate that sound. I did just buy...
Ok great, thanks guys. To Sam Chandler. I am buying an Arcam fmj-77 amp today or tomorrow. 150x7. I can afford a better pre, so I will go newer as I want some of the newer features. Which is a good buy, but yet high quality? Thanks again so much for the response guys, really helping me out here...
I guess what I want to know is, since my computer has a decent HDMI nvidia video card and an onboard optical sound card, should I upgrade those to top of the line stuff to make playback on my stored computer files like movies and songs better? Thanks again guys.
I am about to buy a Arcam FMJ P7 amp. 150wpcx7. I have a avr300 that I will be selling, and getting a processer "not sure which one yet" but is this amp out of date, and can an amp be out of date? I have seen a few reviews but in 06-07 and they seem to be very possitive, but as times chage, so...
I don't use the computer as a blu ray player, I use it as I have stored up movies in there. I have converted and downloaded HD movies and play from the hard drive.
Well I figure that sound cards and video cars are updated and much better than ones in processers for pre's. No? I don't mind rebuilding my computer to get the best stuff possible. I have over 400 blu ray and HD movies that I have for my TV. They look great, and sound great, but maybe they can...
I can rebuild or build a new computer for it, if I need to get special parts, like sound card or a better video card but not sure what I need to make it sound better. I am using the stock sound card built in, in the motherboard.
Hey Sam. Not sure if that's not how I am doing it now. I hire a AV remote guy to do this for me as I don't have a clue, but would like to get the best sound possible out of my system. I am looking at going pre-pro and changing some stuff around, not sure if I have to change the computer to do...
Ok, I have a question. I have a decent system, Arcam avr300 acoustic zen speakers front and center. VS woofer and an older Mit 65 inch TV diamond version. I am hooked up from the computer to the arcam via dvi on the computer to the TV's DVI. I have an optical cable running from the computer to...
The cable would work, that's perfect. I use the DVI to connect my computer to it, and have my HD movies on there and they play via the DVI link to the computer.
Hey Sam, sorry that I sound confused with most of what you said on the HDCP compliant stuff. I'm not an expert at this. How can I check if the TV is DVI-D? It's the w65-813 and the DVI says on the back of the TV. DVI-HD multi link.
My room is a bit odd, so I don't know if it would matter much. I'm sure it would. Do they make an arcam that does have this feature for room correction?
Also I was wondering, I have a line though a friend to maybe get a Arcam FMJ P7 amp. Is this amp $1000 better than a Emotiva XPA-5? One of the...
I have heard good things about the anthem systems and almost bought one a while back. Does it have the ability to make mp3's sound better like the M-DAX on the Marantz? I am collecting lossless music, but still have a much larger collection of mp3's at the moment. How is it's video processing...
Hey guys, I have not posted in a while, but now is the time. I am looking to upgrade my arcam avr300 to one of these new setups. The new features on these new amps and processers are pretty cool, and I think it's time to upgrade. I will more than likely keep my acoustic zen speakers.
I love good...
Hey guys, thanks for the answers. I looked into the PS3 a little, but I'm not much of a gamer, and the video and audio quality from what I understand, and for what I would be using it for, is just not there. SACD and DVD-A are not important at all. Blu Ray and great sound and picture is...
