I don't participate in forum discussions very often, but I couldn't let this one go. I saw the trailer for this tonight during one of the football games. Looked like crap; then I saw the name "Cocaine Bear". I lost it. I was crying I was laughing so hard. I can't NOT see it now.
It's only the first time you see the movie, right? Maybe not, as I still get a bit of jolt out of seeing the little alien creature pop out of John Hurt's chest in "Alien". And I've seen that film over 30 times.
Thanks for responding. Your answer, and perspective, is eye-opening. I had this vision of seeing downloaded films sitting on my hard drive, but I guess the only way that happens is if I buy the film and rip it myself. Defeats the purpose...
When I look at the hundreds of DVDs and blu's jamming up my shelves, I usually contemplate moving into the digital media world. Except, I'm not really sure what that means. What exactly do you get when you buy a film? Is it just access to the film as it resides on the providers servers? Are...
I, too, recently purchased and viewed Twilight's Breaking Away. A great presentation. I commend them for it. Nice to know about the commentaries. I will have to check that out. I was in school at IU when the film was made, so I like to watch it every year. Quite a few friends showed up to...
Glad I'm not the only one confused.
1. Who was being chased by the King and Carol?
2. It's a good idea to have a tiger with a taste for human flesh roaming around?
3. Morgan's laser-tag chest protector saved his ass?
4. What's Daryl looking for?
5. We're supposed to remember the guy who...
For me, it was the tornado scenes in The Wizard Of Oz. I grew up in a "tornado alley", where every dark thunderstorm meant pulling the couches away from the wall so we could crawl behind if necessary. Probably a good 20 years before I could sit still during that part of the movie.
Well, I have to give them credit. Watched an enjoyable ep 3 last night. It helps that today I figured out that Tom Servo is played by one of the sons on Grace and Frankie.
Long-time MST3K fan here. Let me start by saying I am really glad they are back. It was pretty cool to be part of that super-successful Kickstarter campaign. I will keep on watching, but I have a few critiques:
1. Too many jokes. Is that even possible?!? I think so. they come so...
Can someone help me out? I've replayed the scene at the 43 min mark 3 times, and still can't interpret a line of dialog. Carol runs out of the house to grab Morgan. She says "you can leave", and then the next line is garbled for me.
Wish I'd jumped in on this before now, but that's OK... There is one album I have re-purchased in many forms. Humble Pie - Rockin' The Fillmore. Pure balls-out screaming bluesy rock, with a teenage Peter Frampton in the band. Not too long ago I bought the special edition which contains all 4...
What I would want is for the Grimes Gang to walk away from this place without any more bloodshed. But the writers wouldn't go for that, obviously. I'm at the point where I now think Rick is the bad guy. Look at all the devastation he's left behind. Glen and Maggie should be running this outfit.
I watch an .AVI version of the show on Monday nights, so sometimes I don't catch all the dialog. Before Aiden died, did he tell Glenn "it was us"? If he did, what was he referring to?
The Sweet Smell Of Success from Criterion. We had a group over to watch it. I was the only one who had even heard of it. You should have seen all the phone screens light up after the film ended, as everyone wanted more info! We had a great discussion after learning the history of the film.
Another vote for "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance." A great story, with great actors, playing great parts, directed by a great man. Except for that newspaper editor who grinds my gears with his overacting. But maybe Ford intended that.
Since we're on the subject of HARRYHAUSEN titles, could I make a brief left turn and ask a question? I've never understood the how's and why's concerning effects shots in old films and their inability to be upgraded to 1080P. All of the best stuff in Jason is at a lower resolution. A thank...
It certainly does seem like the creepy girl probably did the rat artwork. And her skill with the gun leads me to believe she was capable of killing Tyrese's 2 friends. It makes we wonder if the kid killed the 2 sick people, and then Carol dragged them outside and burned them.
I'm glad the...
I'm glad I'm not alone in my dislike for the latest episode. As far as I'm concerned, it's a bad actor playing a badly written part. Let's get to the "Michonne, off with his head!" part of the story as soon as possible. My theory is that is Carol is going to return to the group with a gift...
Born in '57, and grew up outside Chicago. Loved dredging up memories about the old movie nights. In addition to what was already mentioned, I gained an appreciation for the old monster movies. On Saturday nights, we had Creature Features, which showed all the old Universals. But the real...
