Would Bluray content make a difference over upscaled SD DVD on these Panny sets since they don't support 1080p? The 42" & 50" are on our short list and we're curious. My understanding of the PS3 is that it down samples to 480p if the connected TV doesn't support 1080p. Is that too basic an...
We have an HD Mitsubishi WS-A48 48" widescreen HD monitor. Yesterday, we finally got a new Nintendo Wii. By 10.30p, we had already thrown a wii remote into the screen and broke the screen protector which also scratched the screen. edit: I just got the protector removed. We're considering...
We returned the first HD845 and bought a refurbished Samsung DVD-HD841 off of eBay for $58 shipped. I'm trying the angle 4327 hack but having no joy. Currently setup as p-scan over component, no disk in tray etc. Am I missing something?
Gary, I ran a few searches and read that the LDA-511 will only upscale non-copyprotected media over component video. That sounds pretty useless if the majority of films are copy protected. I didn't find any hacks listed. Is this correct?
Is the hack available in all the Samsung HD841 players? I can find those on the secondary market pretty reasonably priced. I'm just worried that later firmware revisions might not work and it'd be unreturnable. We bought a Samsung HD845 at Best Buy today and found that none of HDCP Free hacks...
I have a mitsubishi HD monitor that does not have DVI/HDMI connections. What currently available dvd players will do upscaling over component video? I've seen older threads and a lot of conflicting information on at least 3 players that allow this or used to allow it. Thanks. Barry
Wow. Having never seen the 26's in person I had no idea they were so much bigger than the 24's. (4" vs 6" is really deceptive) Now I have a brand new set of 26's that are too big to mount on the deck. OneCall will not exchange them because I opened the box. Guess that's just a lesson in why...
I'm looking for an inexpensive pair of outdoor speakers for my deck. I've been to our local BB and CC and listen to the Bose, Yamaha, House-Brand and JBL speakers and much prefer the JBLs. Does any one have a recommendation on the differences between the N26 and N24 speakers? Other than one...
My 563a has the analog output setup for sacd/dvd-a and the digital coax for dvd/dts. I've never had any problem with the surround sound - i know it works if I leave my receiver on [6-ch direct] and forget to switch to [dvd]. Although I've never paid much attention to what the pioneer player...
I bought the Pioneer 563a (?/silver/$170/released couple months ago) I'm impressed with it with both SACD titles and DVD-A titles. Now, If the labels would just start releasing better albums on either format I'd be happier? Who decides on the crap that gets released on these formats...
Jerome, Does your CD player have a IR/REMOTE sensor on it? Mine doesn't, when I press skip my DVD button lites up on the HK remote.... Any way to be sure signals are going out the REMOTE OUTPUT jack? Thanks - I'll look for more codes, tried most of the ones listed in the manual already...
I have a HK AVR525 and am trying to gain control of my old Pioneer PD-F407 25 disk cd changer. I don't see any remote ir pickup on the Pioneer and didn't get a remote with it. It has a remote in feed on the back, my HK has a remote output on the back as well. I hooked them together...
Racheal, I don't have any SVHS tapes and might have recorded all of an hours worth of stuff in the last 4 years. I do have a ton of regular VHS screener tapes as a family member owns a video rental store. Would you still recommend something higher than the JVC 3901? Why do you push the...
Thanks Bill, but my current VCRs only have mono-audio out as well. So I don't mind dropping $100 or so to fix both these nuisances. Looking around I see the JVC HR-S3901U for $130, for $100 the JVC HR-S2901U is available but I think the jog function & manual tracking would be worth the $30...
Will a standard VHS tape still play on a Super VHS player and if so, will it still feed through the s-video plug? Some S-VHS players on jandr.com don't show or say they have S-Video. Need to check the mfgr page to be sure i guess? -bp
What is the most inexpensive VCR available that will push out s-video for regular VHS Tapes? My current VCR doesn't have stereo out and only does RCA/Composite out yet my AV receiver and TV are much happier keeping everything S-Video. -bp
Do all the PVR product require that you pay a service? I'm still reading about these things and am a bit turned off by the $10/mo or $250 activation fees. The show info they collect is free on the web right, so it's only a matter of time before some of them will be able to parse this right...
I want a DVD/Universal player. So far some posts and information have been a bit misleading - as I've followed information about the Sony 755 claiming it to be a DVD-A player (not true I think) What universal players are available now and in the near future? Price included...
I bought Stone Temple Pilots Core album in DVD-A and am now hooked. I bought a Doors DVD-A, great sound just not the best Doors content. Just listening to the DTS track now but am looking for a new universal player now. What other DVD-A / SACD titles are out in the genre of the STP album...
I am still looking for a progressive scan dvd player that will do SACD (some) & DVD-A (mostly). I originally thought about the RP82 but found that it's not available. I also initially wrote off the Pioneer Elite 45A b/c my dealer was $500 for it. How cheap can the 45A be had for? It has a...
I wouldn't waste too much time falling in love with the Panny RP82 - seems they are discontinued and no one can find one. Myself included. If anyone knows someone with RP82s in stock I'd like to know... -Barry
Thanks Bob - I was pretty far into my research still thinking it'd convert s-video to component... Guess they're still working on that. Anyhow - Thanks for the very informative post, now I just need to find a S-Video enabled VCR for cheap to go with the HK-AVR525 I just bought. Thanks - Barry
I just purchased the HK AVR-525 and it will arrive Wednesday. I choose it over the Marantz SR-7300 b/c of price along with favorable reviews online. I'll admit that I'm biased against Sony because of some bad personal experiences with their products. I didn't take any Sony products into...
Where can I get better-than-Best-Buy quality cables for cheap? Need component, SVideo, speaker and other cables. Saw www.accessories4less.com but wondered if members had better sources.
I've coaxed myself into a higher price bracket but found an opportunity to get a AVR-525 for $550/refurbished & warranted. Would this model be comparable to the SR7300? Output is lower but offers the 7th channel and component video switching. Thoughts? I'm about to order the AVR525 - anyone...
After the purchase of a new 48" Mitsubishi HD widescreen and the sale of all my old stereo gear I'm looking to purchase a A/V Reciever to go with the TV. I'd like to place the componet rack away from the TV given the layout of the room. Hence I'd like a receiver that does component video...
Do most echo those quality concerns about the HK avr520? The SR6300 doesn't do component video switching? My understanding is that recievers that push out component video can handle the translation of an S-Video input feed to component video out? (with the understanding the outgoing isn't...
I'm looking at both the Marantz SR6300 ($520/online) and the Harmon Kardon AVR520 ($500/online). Which of these would be a better purchase? Concerned about DVD surround sound presentation (DTS/DD) and the hook up of Pioneers forthcoming universal player for DVD-A and some SACD use...
