Menus are Japanese only unfortunately, OHMSS (in addition to the mono track) has DTS, DD5.1 tracks in English, a Japanese DD5.1 and the commentary track.
Regardless of who won the battle, I can't go HD until multi-region is readily available for SD and HD on the same machine. I have a 2500 strong DVD library from all over the world, and would rather not have multiple boxes under my TV...
Looks like the soundtrack on the archival Director's Cut has been messed up:
BladeZone's Off World Forums :: View topic - Oddities with the new 5-disc version of the Director's Cut
Just checked my DVD, and the Theatrical Cuts seem to be fine in both 5.1 and 2.0, and also the 2.0 track on the...
There is a shot of Roy inside the truck driving in the tunnel which starts sooner, this is missing on the Criterion disc For missing shots that are present on the new Theatrical Cut DVD, and not on the Criterion LD, see attached:
It has the extra shot of Neary's truck on the highway, the "Days of our Lives" scene and the longer scene of the escape from the helicopter. If that's any help :)
I just received the SD release and it's the mothership on the cover. Very nice packaging though, has a fold out poster with all the scene differences between versions on the reverse. Also a nice little photo book with quotes and biographies. The Theatrical Cut seems grainier than the other...
Nice to see support for the 1988 Turner Cut. Around the time of the DVD release, I was amazed at all the praise for the 2005 abomination.
As a side note I created my own edit for personal viewing, using the 1988 version and adding the two new extra scenes from the 2005 version and a couple of...

Being a fan of most of the Disney full length features, thought I would add my list :) I dislike Mickey, Donald and company, being a Looney Tunes guy, which is why the compilation films are rated low. I watched most of the classics at theatrical re-runs in the 70s and 80s, and continued...
I have the uncut Danish R2 SE disc AND the Italian R2 Giu La Testa version. The films are identical, apart from some minor music differences. Shame the original mono soundtrack wasn't included on the SE, as it omits a few lines of dialogue including expletives.
 Always makes me laugh how obsessive the changes are in the Special Editions in some areas, and then leave glaring errors in the audio, pink lightsabers etc
My wife thought the same thing with the droids 'farting' around at the beginning. I still think ANH is the first and best film. I find the Jabba sequence in ROTJ the most tedious part of the trilogy and often skip to the sail barge action :D
Nice find, I've been after this underrated sequel for a long time. Might wait and see what happens in other territories if this is Studio Canal. I would rather just buy the film on it's own, not a bad price for all three though :emoji_thumbsup:
I would go for this also, forget the awful third one though. If they could add back the extra scenes from the Australian version, and have an alternative Aussie dialogue track, because some of the dialogue was changed for the US market.
He also color corrected the opening titles in Caravan of Courage. Not that anyone noticed  As an aside are Willow and Radioland Murders the only non-tampered films on DVD?
