I would take the VX or VS over any sony on the market. I am not impressed w/ any sony LCD projection tv's right now...including the overpriced XBR. The Hitachis look better, have better color and sharper pictures. The only upside of the Sony's is non-reflective glass...which the VX takes care of.
I've heard this is an issue w/ the DVI to HDMI cables. Monster, Belkin, whatever. Some work, some don't. I have no idea why it's situational, but apparently that's what is happening.
I know there are better tv's out there, but for the price and size...it's still a widescreen HD ready projection tv for a steal of a price. You may want to get a screen protector and an extra warranty on it too.
Honestly, I'd save my money and get the 770. THX certification doesn't mean isn't a better product...it's just certified to meet standards. Really, the 770 is a great buy for what you get. Circuit City actually had it on sale for around $430 (regular $600), which is obviously a good deal...
Only thing I need to do is put some dynamat on my big old picture windows. Watching anything w/ 1 of my dual 10" on gets annoying when the whole house shakes.;)
I wanted to add in, that if you aren't 100% stuck on the DLP, you should take a look at Hitachi's vs810 series of LCD Projection tv's. I compare the vs810 to the 85w samsungs on a daily basis, and I have to say, the Hitachi is a better looking set.
I'm thinking of picking this player up after christmas is over. I had a Yamaha s2300, but recently got rid of it due to lack of SACD and DVD-A usage. Now I just use my Denon DVD-900 for disc playing. My 900 is acting up (had it serviced 2 years back) and I want to get a new player for a low...
The 51f510 isn't a bad tv at all. The benefits of the 510 over your tv are substantial. -Widescreen (made for dvd's and HD) -HD ready -Virtual HD (converts 480p to 1080i...theoreticaly) -Auto convergence -Newer parts, bulbs, guns, speakers, etc -Smaller, lighter, easier to move - 1...
I had a 55" mits platinum plus for about 3 months before I burnt EA Sports and a scoreboard into the top righthand corner of it. I sold that tv for $2000, and recently picked up a Hitachi 51F500 and haven't played xbox on it since.
I live in an 101 year old house w/ plaster walls, big picture windows, and hardwood floors. My subs have never posed a problem to the walls or breaking any glass (that would be very funny though:) ) BUT I have to unplug both subs to just watch tv. The dribbling of a basketball is enough to shake...
Rear projection tv's are a good bang for the buck. You get a big picture, for pretty cheap. They're pretty much all HD monitors now, as well as widescreen (does anyone make SD 4:3's???), so they will work great for DVD's as well as TV. Downsides to rear projections don't really outweigh the...
I really only have experience with the Samsung line of DLP', so hopefully someone can chime in w/ their input on the other manufacturers. Comparing the 63 series to the 85 series isn't fair. The 85 has a ridiculously better picture, finer line definition, and the colors are outstanding. As...
Ya I know our living room is terrible for home theatre design, the ceiling is un-even, there back of the room is open, there are windows and doors everywhere. But being college students, it is somewhat hard to afford a house. Next year we will be moving into a house, and plan on looking...
Checked on Energy's webpage...and you are right. 100watt max. Hmmm well would adding a pre-amp even be necessary now? Wouldn't it add clarity? The sub has a 400watt max. Would the sub need to be given more power "150rms"? We will probably be getting a better sub for next year, when we move...
Thanks Richard. We are working on starting a fund strictly for upgrades on our theatre. This way we know just how much we have to spend, and it makes it easier to budget. I haven't really looked into pre-amps...but I'm hoping to get something that will power the front channels + 1 sub....then...
I didn't tell you, you were wrong. Simply put...I purchased all of these components within the past 6 months...and I am somewhat reluctant to go replace them this soon. I do 100% agree with you on the sub issue though. I will also be adding a pre-amp to my set-up in the near future. thanks...
thanks for the insight. The mirage speaker I picked up 5 days ago for a VERY low price. Mirage is basically the same company as Energy anyways...and for the amount that I paid...i couldnt ask for more. The reciever I own is a GREAT reciever...I wouldnt buy a Sony reciever over a yamaha. Maybe...
Hey, I'm looking into upgrading my theatre in the new future. Me and my cousin have started a fund strictly for upgrades..and we are wondering what exactly should be upgraded first? Here is my setup: 55" Mitsubishi HDTV Yamaha RX-V630 Reciever Denon DVD900 Monster Power HTS900 Power...
Sounds like the processor on your DVD player is inadequite. You may want to step up to something with a faroudja chip..or something close to that. When my Denon DVD900 went KIA...we got a rental from our local good guys. It was a decent Toshiba progressive scan....and the pauses between...
