Turns out the lamp had gone bad. Called BB at 09:00 Sat morning and it was fixed by 17:30. A little concerned that my lamp only lasted 137 hours though. Greg
I didn't realize that they darken but with only 2 months usage. 3 hours per due. I would think it would be more of a defective bulb. I will take it out and check, Greg
Help, I have a 2 month old Samsung DLP hls-5086W. When I first got it it looked great. I like it bright so I put it on Dynamic. Brightness in that mode is at 45. Within the last few days it has changed. It is no longer bright. It isn't awful but it isn't good either. You used to be able to...
I have the Samsung hls5086W which I really like. It can currently be had for around $1300 at CC. With your budget you could pay for a very good DVD player and cables. You could throw in a stand as well. Most will recommend the 1080P for "future proofing". The only thing out in 1080P is Blu-Ray...
you should be good. I got the 18 month as well. The biggest thing that DLP's have issues with is viewing angle. Not so much left to right, but up and down. I had mine placed too high and it didn't look great. you lose brightness if it is at the wrong height. The middle of the screen should be at...
1080P is better to a point but I think it is relative to the distance you are from the screen. If you sit 5 feet from the screen then I think that the difference would be noticeable but at 10 feet> then I think it would be negligible. Beyond just the resolution some of the 1080P sets may offer...
Seems odd. I have a $39 apex dvd player with S-video and watching Madagascar the other day looked incredible. I am going to upgrade to an upconverting player with HDMI but now a I am scared. I hear alot of people adjust their settings for DVD VS. TV. have you adjusted the sharpness to see if...
I have not seen where bulbs are routinely $400. Most are around $200. If you pay a technician to change the bulb it could cost alot. But if you own a pair of hands you can change the bulb. I also feel that the cost of these will go down over time. When you actually have to change it in 2 to 3...
avsforum.com is a great resource. I am sure they have an owners thread for your tv where you can find setup recommendations. Sounds like you have your cables already. If you need cables in the future then I would recommend Monprice.com. Greg
I finally pulled the trigger on the 50 inch Samsung this weekend. My first impressions are that it is a great tv. The only problem is that because I have it on a shelf over the fireplace you lose PQ because of the vertical angle. Not the TV'S fault. It still gives a good picture but I am going...
Just saw this at CC yesterday and thought it looked great. It was next to the 50. I thought that it was one of their plasma's. They were displaying the same image and I thought it look a good bit better. I walked up to it and notice it was much thinner than any DLP that I had seen. I loved the...
I thought researching extensively would make my choice easier but It is making it more difficult. Here is my issue. I was all ready for the 720P until I read more about the 1080P. I just don't know if it will be worth the extra cost. After reading many posts I have decided to go with a 50 inch...
Chuck, If you are interested in Blu-Ray you will want to go with 1080P to get the most out of it. I was in CC last week and they had the Samsung 1080P DLP on sale for 1799 down from 2499. I am kicking myself for not buying it. Went back the next day to purchase and it was 2315. My...
I am kicking myself. They had the samsung 1080P for 1615 open box at cc this weekend.(1799 for the others) It is now back up over 2300. I noticed the viewing angle is not as good with a rplcd or dlp. My fireplace shelf is huge I could accomodate up to a 60 inch if I wanted too. The only place...
I have had my 32 inch jvc above the fireplace for about 6 months. it bothered me at first but I have gotten used to it. The heat has been a non issue. it is higher up than i like but my wife was pushig me for 2 years. I lay back in the recliner most of the time so it is not bad. I have somewhat...
CC has the Samsung 50 inch DLP on sale for $1799. This is down from $2499 last week. Looked at it today. They had Blu-Ray hooked up to it. It was incredible. Greg
I wouldn't mount it. I have a gas fireplace wich is low and then as it is in the corner it is a big triangular shelf. the shelf is about 68 inches wide and 34 inches deep. The fireplace radiates heat out from the glass and it has a vent that directs the heat down, but at the level of the tv it...
Is it possible that the Westinghouse is significantly cheaper because it is a Monitor rather than a full fleged HDTV? I would think that not having a tuner would be a significant cost savings. I have never seen this Monitor so I can't speak to it's quality. It just seems as though it would be...
This will be my first jump into the world of HD. I was set on a DLP because of the cost per sq. Inch. The problem is in BB they looked very good but they only show them with a dvd playing no tv signal. At Costco with a tv signal and the LCD's and Plasmas looked much better. My tv will be above...
I sold an S center II on e-bay recently for $200. I think they would be a bargin up to about $550. The S38's and the S center are very hard to find. Good luck
http://www.jbl.com/home/product_supp...prodId=ND310II $21 per tweeter at JBL.Com. I replaced some studio tweeters through them. Very good service, Greg
While I have never ordered from Them I have heard nothing but good things about the audio insider. I am sure Jon Lane will either post to this forum or answer you quickly. He is very active in this forum and if everything I have heard is true you should be very happy with your purchase. Greg
I prefer the 80's. I would never by them at Best Buy. I buy all my electronics online and save a ton. You could get a pair of E80's for $358 and a pair of 60'S for about $300 at http://www.bhphotovideo.com They have a great reputation
Cnet gave the RF-15's a good review. There main criticism was lack of bass. Is there a sub in your future? I think either set of speakers would benifit from a sub to capture the low end. You will have plenty of power for the Klipsch speakers so I would get the RB25's and spend the $110 on the...
