Johnny,
Like you, I had to have speakers on the walls, so I sprung for a pair of MC1's for fronts and MMG-W's for rears (phantom center for now). My brother-and-law and I hung them last night, and after a quick calibration tossed in the Eagle's Hell Freezes Over. Simply awesome; we could...
The track titles are spoiler free, but I've heard some of the last track, and the music right before the end credits without a doubt in my mind completely gives away the very last shot of the film. At least I think so. We'll see in a few weeks.
I think this is the right place to ask . . . I'm looking to buy a pair of earbuds for my portable mp3 player to replace the stock set. What are the best buys for the money? I'm looking to spend under $50 if possible, but might go up to as much as $100.
I've used TrueRTA for quite a while and love it. I got the $99 version since I wanted 1/24th octave resolution, but that's because I'm obsessed with good bass. I can't remember of the top of my head how low TrueRTAs display goes, but I'm sure it's lower than 20Hz.
For those of us that have wives who won't let us have speakers out very far from the wall, the front porting is definitely a nice feature. I will also second, though, that the L3 center is not very well shielded. I pretty much gave up on putting directly it on top of my TV (of course now I've...
I own a pair of L3 towers and an L3 center. To my ears, they're 95% as good as a pair of B&W towers I auditioned a while back that ran for several times the price. I like the tower look much better than bookshelves on stands, and I couldn't find any towers that looked as nice as the L3's for...
I'm looking to upgrade my sound card to an M-audio revolution, and was wondering where I could find "relatively" high quality cables to hook it to my amplifier (i.e. 1/8" to dual RCA cables). I'm no audiophile, but I'd like something better than the Radio Shack 5 dollar cheapies. (mods, if...
Here in a little while I'm going to be upgrading to a front projection system (either Z1 or Z2 if it's cheap enough). Due to vaulted ceilings, space considerations, and WAF, I'm going to be coffee table mouting it. I'd really like to be able to run the video cables under the carpet (house is on...
Yup, I'm in the same boat, except I still have the chore of running the wires left do (just moved in 3 weeks ago). I dropped Outlaw an e-mail on this topic and the official word is:
Yes, I can force 6.1 all the time, and that does indeed fix the audio dropouts for TTT. However, since I don't actually have a 6th speaker hooked up, won't I lose quite a bit of surround information that is pulled out of the left and right surrounds and sent to the center? Is there any way to...
Larry L - I've had EXACTLY the same problem you have, and last night I was able to figure out the problem. It's the Outlaw 1050 . . . my guess is you're not running it in 6.1 mode? For some reason the TTT's 6.1 flag is causing my Outlaw to try to switch to 6.1 mode every 15-20 seconds or so...
Well, I didn't have any trouble with video artifacts, but my 5.1 track skips every 5-10 seconds! :frowning: Has anyone else run into this, or did I just end up with a bad disc? I double checked all my hardware, and even tried a few other discs, and they all work fine. Even the "extras" disc...
Vinh, either the pink noise or sweep is okay, but I found the averaged pink noise to be the most beneficial. It allowed me, for instance, to play with the phase dial on my SVS and see in real-time how it affected frequency response. The ideal phase setting for me ended up being rather narrow...
Well, I got impatient and bought the full version of TrueRTA. And the verdict is . . . . . . whoa, did that make equalization easy! I went from way out of whack to ruler flat to nice house curve in about 30 minutes. No burning test tones, no excel spreadsheets, no mind-numbing lists of...
I'm almost ready to go ahead and order, but I have one more question: has anyone used TrueRTA with the Rat Shack SPL meter as a microphone? If so, what settings did you use on the meter? I suppose I can go out and buy a different mic, but why not use the one I've alread got?
I just picked up a BFD the other day, and have been doing experiments to try to equalize my sub (SVS 20-39PC+). I did a search to see if I could find any software that could make this task easier, and found out about TrueRTA (www.trueaudio.com). They've got a free download, but the free version...
The big concern I had was exactly what you just mentioned, unwanted interaction between the tweeter and the TV. Luckily I figured out a way to have the center's face about 1-2" in front of the TV. Turning it upside-down really did help!
The tweeter on my center channel speaker is towards the top of the cabinet. My only real placement option is on top of the TV, so I thought, why don't I turn it upside down to try to minimize the vertical distance between the tweets on my mains and the center. Has anyone else done this? Will...
Chad: Why did I pick the 25-31PC+? A couple considerations: 1. Any other model would have been too tall for my current room (wouldn't have been hidden behind the couch, and the Mrs. wouldn't have liked that) 2. I wanted the flexibility of being able to set my own tuning point. Since I'm...
After much lurking around this forum, I decided to order me up an SVS for my birthday (thanks honey for permission to put it in the living room!) Anyways, I picked the 25-31PC+ due to size issues, and promptly tuned it down to 20Hz with the port plug. Now here'#### question: How loud can I...
