I do keep all that in mind, but eventually space becomes an issue.
Though it still seems confusing as to why the text commentary was the only thing left off.
I’m exited to get this, but the only bummer is that they dropped the excellent text commentary from the original DVD. Why? All it is is just one extra subtitle track. Well I could just take the original DVD and see if I can fit it into the UHD case, though come to think about it, do I really...
You know the aspect of the film you reference here was one of the things that threw me. I never read the book so I don’t know if there’s any additional context there. Was I missing something?
I stopped by Best Buy the other day, they still have shelves up and some inventory. Thought maybe I could get some clearance prices, but of course not. For example they still had a copy of the UHD Superman collection still with a $149 sticker price
Just got back from seeing it at new Roc. Unfortunately even though they have a full IMAX screen it’s still digital 1.90:1. Only way to see 1.44:1 is at film capable IMAX locations.
1.90:1 throughout the whole thing except of shots looking through scopes which were 2.40
plus the water in the tanks was heavily chlorinated and probably wouldn’t have been good for the fish. Anyway that detail never really crossed my mind as I figure that sea life at the depth the deep core team were supposedly at is sparse
I watched interstellar again the other day. First two acts, great, some of the most immaculate Sci-Fi of all time on screen. Unfortunately it eventually goes off the rails into the cloying “love conquers all” territory. I wish Nolan could have avoided that.
One thing I notice about The Abyss is that it doesn’t mention the Van Ling text commentary being included. Would be a bummer if that was dropped as it had some great detail.
I was prepared to be underwhelmed but first impression is it’s fine. No one will mistake it for A Day in the Life, but works ok as a mid tier Beatles song. Was trying to imagine where it might fit in the 60s discography. It sounds to me like a cousin of “I’m Only Sleeping” from Revolver. But...
I tend to agree. At my job if I create a new report or tool I don’t get a residual every time it gets used in the company. No offense to actors but for most people in the industry I see it as a part time affair ie. It’s not a profession where you can expect to make a great living doing. In that...
I thought though the PF dissolution settlement way back when gave Waters more control over The Wall than their other material. But yeah I don’t know what is going on behind the scenes but I don’t picture Gilmour giving much of a care over a BD/UHD release to hold it up
Got back from seeing this today. Pretty good. I agree that it felt like more of an actually movie than the others. We spend a good deal of time with Kramer before the action starts up (although one thing about the movie I’m not sure I liked is that it seems to humanize Kramer a bit too much even...
Yeah with Waters you have to be prepared for that. It’s a bit grating for me though since Roger is not a guy I would likely get along with. That being said I have seen him live several times
That’s kind of an odd one. I wonder why we never got one. Is the film something that would be subject to being held in limbo over the ongoing Waters/Gilmour feud?
I notice that (unless I missed something) Roger has been remarkably silent about recent events of which he’s heavily been politically invested in. Then I remember that his Dark Side Redux has just been (or about to be) released
