Thank you for your replies. Why are the digital displays better with abient light? Is it a simple fact that the bulb they use is brighter than the color guns of the CRT sets?
Hi, I was told that CRT RPTV don't do well with ambient light compared to DLP and LCD. Is this true or has this guy been given misinformation? I know FPs have this problem. But I have never heard this about any RPTVs. Thanks
Well, my outlet was hooked up wrong. The neutral (white) wires were on the wrong side. And I also seem to be grounded now also. But that did not help the buzzing. I hoping it is a normal thing and nothing to worry about. I am going to write Infocus and see what they say.
My X1 PJ is making a buzzing sound when it is off. The rocker switch is off too. I am thinking it might have something to do with the fact that my power outlets do not seem to be grounded properly. I opened an outlet up to test it. My understanding is if the outlet is ground properly I...
I have an X1 projecting a 75" diag. image onto blackout cloth over a wood frame. At night I can watch it with a 100watt table lamp on. Looks good. Granted it looks better with the lights off. But very watchable.
I think your right. There are just to many favorable post about grey screens on here and other forums. This is the first I heard of the blue tint thing. Although it does make sense. It is probably only seen by the most critical eye.
Oops.. That would be 75" diagonal. The PJ will be ceiling mounted about 7.5ft up. I am currently projecting on a piece of non-painted canvas stretched over a wood frame. What do you think the gain would be on the canvas?
I have an X1 at 9.5ft from the screen projecting a 75" 4:3 image. I don't really have a light problem because I watch movies mainly at night. However I would like to get a screen that preforms well with some ambient light. Such as a 100watt table lamp on while watching. Or during the day to...
When researching about what exactly screen gain was a ran across this... http://www.lpmorgan.com.au/projectio...n_material.htm I was going to get a Draper HC grey for my X1 till I read this. What do you all think? Agree with what they say about grey screens? Check out about what they...
I believe the 1080i signal is noninterlaced to begin with. So it would not need to be de-interlaced. But don't take my word for it. I am just guessing. Wait for someone who knows for sure. :)
Sure enough. I unhooked the cable and those annoying bars vanished. Another thing I don't understand is why they don't show up on my 36" tube TV. Now I wonder how hard it would be to get my cable company to put a ground loop thing in? :D Probably slim to none huh?I will probably just have to...
--Hangs head in shame-- I read that when they first posted that too. I will give it a shot tonite. What I don't understand is I ran the s-video straight out of my DVD player and it still did it.
I got an X1 today from the evaluation program. I got it set-up projecting a 60" screen on a white sheet. It looks great with the exception of one problem. It has this wide transparent dark horizonal bar that scrolls slowly up the screen. I have it hook up with a 20' NXG s-video cable. I thought...
I can't believe the price differences on digital camcorders between local store and online. I am looking to buy a Canon Optura 20. They want $850 (including sales tax) at my local Best Buy. I can get the same camcorder online at Buydig.com for like $550 delivered. That is a difference of 300...
I am sad. I am not allowed to get an X1 till after Christmas. :frowning: However, I told my Dad about the X1 and he got really pump about it. He wants to get one now. He said to go ahead and order him one. So I still get to play!:D He has alot better room for it than I. His livingroom is...
Ron, Did you purchase it then return it or did you do the free trial thing where you fill out that online form? At the Infocus Store website it says there is a 15% restocking fee for returns. --Nick
:frowning: Just my luck. BB did not have an X1 in stock. And their website is out of stock also. The guy said it would be weeks before they get one in. I guess I will try that free evaluation thing. This is killing me. I want to try this thing out sooo bad. :) --Nick
Well, I think I am going to go down to my local Best Buy and get an X1. First making sure I can return it without any penalties if I don't like it. Hopefully they have one in stock. Will a white flat sheet be a sufficient temporary screen?
Ron-P... Well, thats what I originally thought. I was worried about bulb life. But I just know when I get this thing I am going to want to watch everything on it. Which would be about 10 hours of TV and 6 hours of movies a week. Providing I get 3000 hours out of the bulb, that would be more than...
The room is roughly 12x14. 12 being the seating/view width. I will be keeping my entertainment center with my 36" tube for my daughter's TV watching. So the screen will be a pull down from the ceiling in front of the e-center. So that gives me roughly 9 feet from projector to screen. With a 4:3...
I will mainly be using it to watch DVDs on it. I may use it to watch a few TV shows a week. Depends on how my cable signal looks through it. I am a little concerned on the distance I will be sitting back from the screen. Only about 9 feet. Do you think that is far enough? Also, it will be...
Hi all, I was thinking about getting the X1 and was wondering if anyone knows if it is getting close to being discontinued? If so, heard anything about it's replacement? --Nick
Thanks guys for the replies... That Monivision looks like what I need. I would get the 4:3 one rather than the widescreen for the same reasons as the guy in the link above. I would be watching standard 4:3 TV most of the time. Now the really hard part is convincing the wife that we really...
Can you display a computer on a direct view HDTV? I want to be able to hook a computer up to my HT setup so that I can surf the web and other stuff from the comfort of my sofa. I am not sure if this is possible or safe. I tried this on my current 36" analog TV, but I found out is does not have...
Thanks, thats a good idea about the blocks. I am thinking maybe two 4"x 3" x 1" pieces of wood attached with wood corner braces. All stained to match my entertainment unit. I can't wait to get the speakers. As soon as I sell my old Cerwin Vega DX-9's and Pioneer VSX-D557 receiver I should...
I have decided that I am going to get the JBL SCS150SI speaker package. Seems to be the best bang for the buck. I was wondering if anyone knew if you can position the speakers on the mounts. What I want to do is mount the front speakers on the side of my entertainment unit and face them...
