Well, to replace the dead Sony, I bought a cheap Toshiba to tide me over until I get something else. Now, my Toshiba is acting wierd. Looks like I'll be getting that 2910 sooner than planned. :D
Since I missed the deal at eCost for the 2200 for $275, I was wondering if anyone's run across anything similar. The more I read on the 2200, the more I want it.
For several years, I thought about using a Technics SL1200 as an audiophile turntable. The main reason for this is that the wow and flutter is pretty low (I believe .025%). The only thing I think I'd do is change the tonearm and put a decent needle on it. I know some audiophiles frown on...
Many folks who own Nissan Maximas agree that there are better systems than the Bose setup that they are saddled with. Case in point, a friend of mine with a '92 Maxima had problems with her Bose system and had to wind up replacing the head unit and the speakers. She wound up getting an...
Judging by the criteria, I am going to assume that you are going more for sound quality than SPL. With that said, I would look at the following brands: MA Audio Image Dynamics Diamond Eclipse a/d/s CDT Boston Acoustics DEI Kicker JL Audio I would not go larger than 10" for your...
I am intereszted in knowing where you get the professional test/setup discs you use to set up your HT systems. I want to get one for when I purchase my new DVD player so I can make sure I have everything set up properly.
Like Werner, I like Yamaha and Denon Receivers. At first, I had a hard time finding speakers that would give the Yammie a good sound. I listened to Klipsch, Mirage, Polk. None of those three gave me the sonic balance or quality I was looking for (However, the Denon/Polk/Velodyne combo did, but...
Wayne: Thx. I corrected this. I was not aware. Everyone else: I read the specs on the Z9 and really fell in love with it (especially with the THX ultra). But I am wondering if anyone's listened to it (Especially with B&W DM series speakers). :D
2002 - Average White Band @ House of Blues Chicago 1992 - BoyzIIMen, TLC, Hammer @ Tweeter Center (Called World Music Theatre at the time) 1982 - Diana Ross @ Rosemont Horizon
Shawn: Kicker makes a good speaker as well. As far as JL Audio is concerned, you would definitely have to go with their lower end (TR series) to match your price point. But, to reiterate what I said earlier, check out Boston Acoustics.
Maybe I can shed a little light on this situation. One poster said that companies who make head units do not make good speakers. If that were the case, many car stereo fanatics would not be sporting Alpine R Series or Eclipse Ti Series Subs to name two. Both brands actually make some good...
My Sony DVPNS700P has bit the dust. I got the dreaded C 13:00 error and things are definitely not looking good. I called one shop and they told me that it would cost between $190 and $240 to replace the optical block on this particular unit. Well, in a nutshell, I am looking for a...
This is what I am planning to put in my car.... Eclipse 4441 Head Unit Eclipse In-Dash CD Changer JL Audio XR-653-CS 3 Way 6.5" Components JL Audio XR-650-CX 6.5" Coaxial Speakers JL Audio 12W6v2 Sub Audio Control DQT Equalizer JL Audio 500/1 amp JL Audio 450/4 amp
Actually, Scott, that Maxima in the picture is not a 3.5L SE but a turbo 3.0L SE with the 2002 HIDs. They are still trying to come up with tweaks for the 3.5L V6.:D
I am of the same school of thought as LawrenceK. It's hard to be subjective to something you are not familiar with.
With that said, I actually like Erykah Badu because her first album, "Baduism" was a bit different than most of the mainstream R&B at that time. I actually liked it because it...
Anyone remember the Omni GLH or the original Dodge Daytona Turbo Z? Quad 4? In short, there are always going to be 4 bangers that will give most 6s and some 8s grief. In fact, there is a link circulating about a minivan with a turbo 4 that runs 12s in the 1/4 mile. However, those are, as so...
Considering that many Ford head units are made by Jensen, getting a new head unit would be a good start. Brands I would stick with in your case would be Eclipse, Alpine, Kenwood Excelon, Denon, Nakamichi, Clarion, and even Sony ES. Personally, I own an Eclipse and do not regret the $$ I spent...
Most of the things that people are mentioning here I am in total agreement on. Especially the bulbs for projectors which cost as much as the headlight bulbs for my car.
Since I am 92 miles from Brewtown, my faves include some of Plank Road's finest (E.g. MGD, MGD Light, Miller Lite), but my absolute fave is that South of the Border brew, Corona (One of these days, I'll check out Dos Equis). :D
