I recently added a DVD/Karaoke player to my HT system, and I am out of component video inputs. I like the Zektor HDS4 but it's too pricey. Can someone recommend another one that can do the job but for less money? Thanks
Steve, Thanks so much for the explanation and the advice on running a S-video to the TV. But did you say to switch input on the TV as well as output on the box? The reason I asked is that I believe there is only one option for output on the box, and it is 1080i.
Thanks Dave. What I don’t understand is why the picture on an up-converted signal (regular programming) from DirecTV looks so much inferior to a 480i signal from a DVD player? You would think that regular programming from DirecTV is at least broadcast in 480i, and that the picture quality...
I have a Toshiba DST-3000 STB hooked up to a Toshiba 50H81 HDTV. Would the STB convert all signals from DirecTV to 1080i, regardless of the actual broadcast resolution (i.e. 480i, 480p, 720p etc.)? If so, why do regular programming from DirecTV look so bad compare to their high definition...
Thanks Robert. It is the Terk TRKAU2 model according to the box and it appears that this has been replaced by the Terk TRKS25 model. Well, it looks like a new dish is in order.
I have a 3 LNB oval dish for about two months now and it’s been working fine until recently. Now quite frequently, I would lose the signal from all the even number transponders on satellite 101. The signal from all the transponders on satellite 119 and 110 comes in fine. Since this problem...
Thanks Robert. But does the conversion from 720P to 1080i degrade the picture? In other words, is the picture from an original 1080i source better than a picture from an original 720P source that's been converted to 1080i?
Regarding an earlier thread on a 720P signal getting up-converted to 1080i, is this how all set top boxes work? The reason I ask is because I have noticed that HD programs on ABC are not as sharp as programs from other stations that broadcast in 1080i. Since I have a HDTV (Toshiba 50h81)...
