JVC HD-52Z575 set and component questions...

Thanks John, I appreciate it. One last question. I realize the difference between between an interlaced and progressive signals. But is there any definitive answer as to which is "better" between 720p and 1080i?

JVC HD-52Z575 set and component questions...

Thanks for the response, I appreciate it. Is HDMI currently considered the de fato "best" connection means for DVD and HD material currently? Or is COMP still the best way to go? Also, can you maybe help me understand the difference between 1080i and 720p? Thanks!!

JVC HD-52Z575 set and component questions...

OK, I just wanted to run by a recent purchase and get some takes as well as ask some questions if you all don't mind. :-) OK, first off, I just purchased the JVC HD-52Z575. From everything I have seen, it seemed the best option out there for my current price range. I have not been as...

TV Recommendations - talk me out of this...

I am also very interested in this. Previously I was looking at the Samsung Rear-Projections, however after seeing the JVC HD-52Z585 in person, I was very impressed. I have a media cut-out in a new home that is slightly under 50" wide (I need to get an EXACT measurement) and 49" high. I am...

New home, new speakers? Help please! :-)

I will indeed look into the Tykes. I hadn't thought anythign under $500 could be decent. I don't have a pic of the home b/c it won't be built until Feb or March or so. I will try to scan in some diagrams with measurments to give you all an idea of the layout of the room. Thanks again!

New home, new speakers? Help please! :-)

Regarding the Tykes, can I really expect decent quality for a $399 package? Seems cheap for seomthing decent, even my Polk's were $800. Do you know of any chains that carry these, or will I have to check out LA or SF to hear them? Also, those HTD's are pretty large too. Is the size difference...

New home, new speakers? Help please! :-)

Thanks for the suggestion. I will give those a listen to if I can find them anywhere in my area (Fresno :-( ) I don't know if those will be small enough fo rmy room. It is a pretty small room, and I physically wont have much wall space especially for the front channels. There is a fireplace...

New home, new speakers? Help please! :-)

My wife and I are building a new home (our first). The living room is small, only about 150-200 sq ft. I currently have a Onkyo 676 receiver w/ a Polk series package I bought about 6 years ago. I am not going to have as much room to mount speakers as I currently have in our condo. Of...

    Need help with room setup...

The only negative I see about above is that on either couch, 1 rear channel speaker is properly place, but the other is basically coming from in front of you... Here's the only other option I see, but it blocks part of the sliding glass door (which may look kinda tacky)...

    Need help with room setup...

    Need help with room setup...

OK, I am moving into a new place this weekend, and the room setup is a @#$*@ to deal with. As usual in most newer APT's and houses, the fireplace is in the exact spot that the TV would ideally be... Anyways, attached is a quick picture of all the basic components, and I was hoping I could get...

Thanks for your response! I am definately not in a rush. I am just going to go out and look this week at a local HT shop. I was just hoping for some suggestions on brands/models that I should take a listen to in the sub-$1000 range for the entire set (5.1)..?

Suggestions on selling my current speaker setup...

I currently have a Polk RM5400 set that I have been pretty happy with. However, I am looking to fill a slightly bigger space in the near future, and I am looking at POSSIBLEY selling my current setup to some sucka (jk ;-P) on EBay willing to pay more than they should. In exchange I am going to...

Recommendations for a new DVD Player that is GOOD at playing SVCD's...

I am lookign for a new DVD player that can reliably play SVCD's well. I do video production for a living, and wind up putting a lot of footage on SVCD as a prelim to DVD burning and also for personal family material. I currently have a Panasonic RV22 connected to a Onkyo 767 receiver. I'd...
