I know it's late and I'm more then just a little tired but ... I thought if you had two 2ohm VC's and wired them in series it would be a 4ohm load and if you wired them in parallel it would be a 1 ohm load??? for me it looks like in his diagram they are in parallel
Ok, I can't post a link but go to Circuit City and look at the Infinity 10” 1000-Watt Subwoofer circuitcity.com/detail.jsp?c=1&b=g&catoid=-8871&qp=0&bookmark=bookmark_8&oid=71444 not bad for someone looking to do a car sub on the cheap - it's only $10 after mail in rebate. The 12" is $20...
Very interested in doing a DIY sub, or two. I have all the necessary tools and have read a ton of the info on here and feel very confident I'll be able to build something. I have a dedicated HT room, 2000ft^3, more or less sealed. I'm somewhat limited in floor space so it would have to be a...
winisd says 3 3in ports should be roughly 22inches long. That's with straight pipe. Two 4 inch ports should be just under 26 inches. Again that's with straight pipe. I forget how much you take off if using flared ports. I think it's 4/5 inches. Better let someone else chime in as I'm still a...
Thanks Dave and Frank Boy I'd sure like to find that place in Manassas! That's right around the corner! and it delivers!?!? I'll start making some calls and see if I can find it. If not I'll use the place in Springfield. A little off topic but are there any HT get togethers in NoVA that...
Sorry can't help you with the amp/tuner problem - I simply don't know enough. 200 for a sub can be done but I think you would be much happier if you could go to 300. example: Shive - 125 PE 250 amp - 130 That leaves 50 for the box/tube and misc. Not a lot left over but can be done...
oh, check out http://www.adireaudio.com/ too. People have had great success with the Shiva and Tempest. Also they have some basic designs for you to look at too. But don't limit yourself to just those two, there are tons of drivers out there. -Geoff
Dave, I would suggest lurking there for awhile. A lot of the answers to the questions you'll have can be answered by using the search function. At the top there is a link to the sonotube links ... TONS of info there. The first thing you have to decide is how much money you want to spend. Then...
I'm still doing research on building a pair of sonosubs so I really don't have any advice to give you ... at least no advice that's any good :) But here's a link to some reference disigns for the tempest http://www.adireaudio.com/tech_papers/tempest_apps.htm
