    Axiom or Onix?

That is great! (About receiving your speakers, not about the defective one. I had a buzzy speaker in one of my M22's and they sent a speaker out and I replaced it myself. No problems since then.) Congratulations! Its an amazing setup. Walt

    Axiom or Onix?

I've heard both the Aperion and the Axiom and went with the Axiom based on looks - I preferred the shape of the M22ti's, QS8s, and the VP150. Sound-wise, they were both excellent.

Is this normal operating volume for the HK AVR430?

I have an avr 330 and -15 is about as much as I can take. Its loud! My room is 14X20 with a 9' ceiling. Yes, you do have to re-calibrate when you unplug - you also have to calibrate each sound mode separately - dts, DD, etc. And as sloppily as I set my calibration, and the power has probably...

    Computer display to RPTV

Thanks for the tips! Works like a charm, except now my computer thinks I have two monitors side by side, but one is really the rptv in the other room. When I want to watch a streaming video, I start it on my computer screen and then drag it onto the television screen. Does that sound right to...

    Computer display to RPTV

Thanks for the reply, I'll try adjusting my settings, though I can see the computer screen just fine on the tv, just can't see the streaming video, I will report. And you are right, I am using the composite wiring to connect the video card to the tv. That is the only choice in this case as...

    Computer display to RPTV

I have recently tried to hook up the coax video out from the video card on my computer to one of the video ins of my rptv. The computer screen will display just fine on my tv, but when I play a windows media file, or a streaming video, I get sound but a black screen where the windows media...

    dts 5.1 vs dts+neo:6

Wow, everyone, thanks very much for the discussion. I've learned a lot. This has been great. Walt

    Opinion on Receiver/Speaker Set-up

I was able to audition Aperion Audio 522's. Aperion is a budget/quality line like Axiom. The system sounded great, I got to listen to it in a nice home theater set up driven by an Outlaw receiver. I didn't get to audition the Axioms, but I liked the look of the M22's better than the Aperions...

    Opinion on Receiver/Speaker Set-up

I guess I'll chime in about the Axiom speakers - I own them and love them, they are excellent. Regarding service, they are easy to contact and talk to - when one of the drivers went out on my M22s, they had a driver there pronto, no charge. Which speakers/set of speakers are you thinking of...

    dts 5.1 vs dts+neo:6

Thanks for the thoughts guys, I really appreciate it. I should add that yes, I can change the sound field to be "just" 5.1 dts when I see its gone to neo:6, then I assume its playing the discrete dts track. I'm still wondering: so if neo 6 is meant to send 2 channels to 6 channels, is this...

    dts 5.1 vs dts+neo:6

When I play a dts 5.1 movie in my H/K AVR330, the audio will default to dts+neo:6. I have a 7.1 channel layout. But I was wondering if dts+neo:6 was a matrix of all 6 channels or is it discrete 5.1 plus a matrixed 6th channel? I guess my underlying question is: with 5.1, the disks original...

    newbie remote woes

I also have a Harmony 659 and couldn't be happier. It controls every component I have and I have put away all my other remotes. Its also so easy to tweak your commands or buttons online then download it to the remote, I find myself trying new things all the time. There are any number of...

What effect power consumption if any?

Thanks for the comments! I'm just trying to justify the purchase. All three seem decent. Regarding distortion, do you mean Total Harmonic Distortion? Because on that count, the H/K is a little better too: .07 to the Onkyo .08 and the Pioneer 1.0. I'm feeling better about the purchase all...

    Sony Receiver Problems....

Interesting... I had a Sony STR-DE1075 and the same thing was happening to the front L/R speakers. Switch the receiver on and they would click off. If you listened closely, you'd hear them for 1/10 of a second before they'd click off. Play the receiver for an hour or so and they might come on...

What effect power consumption if any?

While obsessing over my latest purchase, an H/K AVR330, I noticed a large variation in the "power consumption" numbers of the models of receiver I considered purchasing. For the Pioneer VSX-D912, 280 watts. Onkyo TX-SR502, 370 watts. And the H/K, 890 watts. Now, this is power...

Just got new HK AVR330, question...

Ok, price I can live with. I was beginning to think there was something about it people didn't like. Great price for the 235, by the way! The store I got the 330 from had a 230 for $299, but it was open box, no manuals, no remote. It wasn't as good a deal as it sounded in the paper once...

Just got new HK AVR330, question...

Picked up an HK AVR330 to replace my Sony STR-DE1075 tonight. Got it new in box for $450. Does anyone have an idea why the AVR230 seems to be more popular than the 330? There seem to be more reviews, more posts, etc. The 330 is 7.1@55wpc vs 6.1@50wpc for the 230. Other than that, and maybe...

Would you buy last years recvr or this years at same price point?

Specifically, the Pioneer VSX-D912K, came out in early 2003, (ok, so its not LAST year anymore), or the Onkyo TX-SR502, circa 2004. Both can be had for $300 in my neck of the woods, the Onkyo can even be found for $260 online at Circuit City. Pioneer: 2003, 110wpc, .2 THD, automatic...
