Do you think glue used for hardwood floors would be useful? I'm thinking perhaps by using a spreader, one can even get a benefit of"deadening" the wood.
Anywhere in NJ. I figure you can't get this any ole place. BTW, if you just double up on 3/4 in. MDF, what's the best way?; to glue them?; glue and screw?
Thanks, guys. I listen mostly to classic rock; movies usually go along horror/sci-fi/adventure genre. I am really a newbie, and I don't want you to think I'm lazy, but what do you think is the "smallest big enclosure" I can get away with using the AV-12? How about around 3 cu. ft? I realize...
I'm primarily interested in a tight, well-controlled bass box, with frequent HT use ( I am not, however, a bass-freak). As a newbie, I'd kindly ask for any comments/critique/recommendations on the best box type. My preference is a tall, down-firing sealed sub (not a sonosub) Many thanks.
Intuitively, it would seem that vented (and PR-equipped) speakers would have a "pressure-relief" outlet, whereas sealed boxes don't. Therefore, if all else were equal, internal pressures would seem to be more with sealed designs. If this were not the case, I'd be curious to know why.
RE: their 3 cu. ft. DIY box --- has anyone converted this into a down-firing sub? Should work, right? Also, what is the thickness of the side walls/top (the site does not specify)?
I have a room (13 X 24 X 8) in which I'd like to place a CS-plus 20-39 sub; what is the minimum distance I can place this in the corner (i.e. minimumm distance from side and back wall)?
1. How important is this for ported subs, if one will be playing HT are less than insane volume? As a confirmed paranoiac, I am concerned about bottoming out the sub inadvertently. 2. Anyone care to comment on the Marchand Bass Interface box?
Why can't somebody make the above? It seems all of the separate preamps that will do the most current decoding programs are at least $1500. If they can come up with receivers doing everything for half (or less)of this, why can't they come up with a preamp for, say, 5-6 bills?
I am new to this, so please be gentle: 1. I am told sealed boxes are the best for tight, accurate, musical bass (not necessarily the loudest nor the deepest, but these are not what I am after; I am phobic about boomy bass!). If so, will SVS consider building a sealed sub soon? 2. Does anyone...
While i am not an audio expert, it is regularly noted that a sealed box yields the tightest, most accurate bass. Since this is so, what is the most significant, real-world downside to using a sealed box?; inefficiency? If so, then is it just a matter of coming up with enough watts/current from...
Anyone? Before I plunk down some serious cash, I'd like to know that i'm getting a sub with fast transient response and a tight sound. I'm really leery of getting muddy bass! I like the bass you get from a transmission line design, but can't afford the real thing.
I want to get a sub; my main priority is clean, tight bass. I am not so concerned with LFE or volume; i figure any decent sub will be enought for my room. what i don't want is for the bass to be muddy. can you enlighten me on which may be better for me, and why?. i am primarily considering the...
