    Viewing Distance?

Here's a link to check out. It's a good calculator for the "optimal" viewing distances based on your screen size (or optimal screen size based on your viewing distance). It uses the SMPTE and THX recommendations (and explains all of it). http://www.myhometheater.homestead.c...alculator.html...

    Viewing Distance?

I recently saw some fairly convincing math based on the average human eye's ability to distinguish pixels once they are more than 1 minute (1/60th of a degree) of vertical arc apart from one another in the field of vision. By that math, if you're viewing non line-doubled NTSC on a 16x9...

    Dish or Cable opinions please

I haven't experienced any Dish signals except on demo floors, and that's only been HDNet. I have done OTA network, and I just got Comcast HD. My experience is that the picture quality of the cable HD is as good as the OTA quality (with a much more reliable signal strength), and as good as I...

    HDTV Saturation date?

I could be off on this, but I believe the government mandate is for DTV, not HDTV. The big push behind the government mandate is to free up bandwidth for other uses. I could believe that all TV will be broadcast in DTV by 2008. Ubiquitous HDTV will be much longer in the happening, I would imagine.

    Best Guide for HD Programming?

Howdy. I was just wondering if there is any one, good, integrated source that lists what HD programming is being offered by various channels. I can't seem to find what shows are in HD on the network sites, and most of the HD sites seem to be out of date or incomplete. Any advice? Nathan

    Antenna for OTA HDTV

Quick follow-up: I ended up picking up the Radio Shack antenna recommended above (15-1838), and it is like night and day compared to the Terk I had originally tried. Even in my basement (where the TV is) the RS picks up about 3 times the signal that the Terk was getting from my top floor. I...

    Local Cable and HDTV

EdQ, I'm having the same problem you mentioned. I get a few DTV channels, but the only HD channel I'm showing is PBS (even though ALL of the stations are broadcasting from the exact same towers). I haven't had much time yet to fiddle with this, but if you have any words of advice I'd appreciate...

possible to get HDTV for the day?

Looks more like $400 to me. There is a $50 rebate, but that has to be put towards the purchase of an antenna. If I were buying to keep it, I might go this route, but with the intent of reselling it on E-Bay, I wanted to get something that was trading actively, and the T150 seems to get more...

    Antenna for OTA HDTV

I'm in a situation where I'm going to have a Samsung SIR-T150 for the next couple weeks, and probably need a new antenna. According to www.antennaweb.org I only need the lowest grade of antenna to get my local digital stations. So, 2 quick questions. First, how strong is the correlation between...

possible to get HDTV for the day?

I recently purchased a gently used Samsung SIR-T150 on E-Bay for $335 (including shipping). My intent is to use it for all the HD playoff games and the Superbowl, then resell it over E-Bay. The T150 tends to go for close to $350 usually, so I've got some hopes that I'll only end up down $30 or...
