    2004 Film List

EDIT: Sorry, I put 2 movies on my list and then didn't update all year. Now I know not to try for a 2005 list, at least. I don't seem to be able to delete this post, so if any mods want to, feel free.

    2003 Film List

I updated my list with a bunch of older ones from this year that I hadn't seen yet for one reason or another: The Italian Job, Hollywood Homicide, The Matrix Reloaded, A Mighty Wind, The Core, Hulk, and Better Luck Tomorrow. Some good (Italian Job, Matrix Reloaded, Mighty Wind, Better Luck...

    2003 Film List

I finally saw some of the 2003 movies I'd been wanting to see for a while. My list now has (in order of how much I liked them): Finding Nemo, X2, Identity, and Dreamcatcher. In non-2003 movies, I recently saw Abre Los Ojos, The Frighteners, and Walking on Water, all for the first time.

Do long pauses do any harm to the disc?

I only have a cheap $50 Apex DVD player, but it will stop spinning the disc if you leave it paused for more than a few minutes. So at that point it should be the same as it you had stopped it. There's a part of me that doesn't like leaving discs paused for a long time, and I think it's just a...

    2003 Film List

I just added 2 new 2003 movies to my list, Anger Management with 4.5/10, and The Good Thief with 7.5/10. I also started my 2004 movie list (on my hard drive), with Ned Kelly, which opens in March 2004 in the US. It gets a 4.5/10.

    Question about Valley Girl Disc?

The video commentary and the extra extras on the widescreen side aren't the culprit here. The widescreen side is dual layer, while the fullscreen side is single layer, so the WS side has far more disc space to hold all its extra features. Even with more extras, the WS side still gives the...

    2003 Film List

Added Final Destination 2 (3/10) and Bruce Almighty (5.5/10) to my 2003 list. Neither as good as 2 non-2003 movies I just saw for the first time (Taxi Driver (1976) and Cypher (2002)), but both far better than My Little Eye (2002), which might have been the worst movie I've seen this year...

    2003 Film List

I added Irreversible, which was really an amazing movie. I'm not sure if I'd ever want to see it again, and I'm not completely sure I liked it, but it's still an amazing film. 9/10. And then I saw Scorched, which opens in the US at the end of July. It doesn't really work as a comedy, since...

Super 35 - Why just in last 20 or so years?

Stop talking about LOTR in 70mm, you're making me get drool all over my keyboard... I'm still upset about missing Lawrence of Arabia in 70mm a month or two ago. I found out about it the day after it ended...

Super 35 - Why just in last 20 or so years?

By the way, getting back to the S35 vs anamorphic trend, I found a post from someone else (Michael Coate) in another forum looking at the trend. Here are his numbers and the percentages you get from them. This is the number of Super 35 films out of the total number of scope films where the...

Super 35 - Why just in last 20 or so years?

I've seen a number of reasons mentioned for people to choose Super 35 over anamorphic or vice versa, but the TV factor isn't mentioned very often. Some people like the anamorphic artifacts such as its distinctive lens flare, and other people don't. As mentioned before, there's the deep focus...
