I have it on good authority that Nuera Acoustics has sold out to a Vancouver, B.C. (near Granville Island) based speaker company. Transition takes place this Thursday. It's quite likely prices on Tangband products in North America are about to take a big jump.
After playing with the W3-871S for a while I decided to do something a bit different with them. The redesigned Alegria Isa is a combination of 6 871s in a sealed enclosure sitting on top of a ML-TQWT with two W5-704S. Makes for a darn nice HT speaker. Alegria Audio Isa
SIGN UP DEADLINE Well, we have 51 people that have signed up and some of those are bringing guests so the actual number appears to be ~55. (Sure glad Dan offered the use of the Adire facilities.) I'm going to leave the sign-up form up through the weekend so if anyone else wants to come please...
Since it appears there are to be NO get togethers this year that I know of I put out the idea to some local DIYers about doing something. I got a pretty good response and then Dan Wiggins of Adire Audio graciously offered to let us use the Adire facilities in Lynnwood. So it's on! Please join us...
Slightly used KIT281 drivers and crossovers for a complete pair. Includes 4 AV8's, 2 Audax TM025F1 tweeters and 2 complete two-way crossovers. Purchased and assembled in December 2002 so they're all broke in for you, but sitting idle the past month. $250 shipped in the contiguous U.S.A. and I...
Had a little problem with my web page after the AT&T to Comcast conversion. It seems to be working ok now and I've added two new pictures of my latest projects using Tangband full range drivers. Just thought I'd share. They're at the end after all the Adire stuff. Tim's Home Audio Page
Given that line arrays are very popular for mains how do you construct a matching center channel? The potential for horizontal off-axis problems exists due to the cylindrical rather than spherical sound field doesn't it? Can you angle out the end drivers or just add more drivers until you get...
Built in Dec. 2002. Piano black finish. $700 complete. I'm not very willing to ship as the weight of the three speakers is over 200 lbs. Will deliver within a reasonable distance of Seattle, WA. See pictures of the construction and finished product at TimF's Home Audio Page.
I understand using an inductor to attentuate upper frequencies. I see the use of R1||L1 for baffle step compensation. Why is the resistor there and how to you calculate the effect on the circuit with this arrangement?
I accidently came across this. Seventh Veil I can't imagine trying this with a circular saw and a router. I've never heard of these guys before but obviously they've been doing this for a while.
As I begin to build more and different types of speakers I'm finding myself challenged trying to get the drivers flush mounted with the least amount of difficulty. I was looking at the 3" TB driver and decided that trying to recess that thing was too much trouble so I just front mounted it. How...
As a result of a slightly off topic discussion I was told about this white paper which researches multiple sub placement. My question is directed to those that run multiple subs. Where do you have yours? The white paper concludes that the best placement is in the middle of the front and back...
Posted some new pics to my website. Thought someone might be interested. I've added a Shiva Sonotube, Adire LCC and some classic theater seating. Timn8ter's Home Theater
I've nearly completed my Sonosub. I've noticed that the inside of the tube is coated. How to you keep the polyfil from slumping since nothing seems to stick to that coating? If this was just a little guy it would be easier but this one is 6 feet long.
What if a Sonotube sub design incorportated a PR rather than a port? For example, a 72" long tube, downward firing driver, upward facing PR on the other end. Can this be software modeled or has anybody tried it?
I'm planning to buy some Sonotube for a sub. Since I've never purchased this stuff before I would like to know if the diameter measurement is an interior or exterior measurement.
I'm trying my first amp build. It's just a mono 25W solid state. Nothing serious. I'm using a transformer I scrounged out of an old Onkyo receiver and don't know what all the wires are for. One side has 2 red, 1 black, 1 white and 1 yellow. The other side has 2 brown, 2 orange, 1 green and 1...
I'm looking for an inexpensive receiver to use as a pre-pro for my HT system. I'll be building my own amps later so I'm not all that interested in the power output of the amps. What I'm looking for is 7.1 surround, DPL II, DD-EX,DTS-ES and pre-outs for a 7.1 setup. Any recommendations?
This is my first sub project. I've chosen to build the Mid Q design from Adire for the Tempest. It'll be powered by an external amp and the crossover will be handled by my receiver. Along with the driver I picked up the Sub S kit. Am I missing something? I've seen some talk on band pass filters...
I see many more comments about the Titans and very little on the Axiom M2ti. I'm torn between these two great little boxes. I'm running a Tempest sealed sub and will be running the mains, center and rears from a 100W per channel receiver. I can crossover at 80 or 100 Hz. The smaller size of a...
The comments and specs on the Adire Tempest look great and I have a neighbor that is a custom cabinet builder so that part looks good. The issue is compromise. The remaining speakers must be wall mounted. I've considered Polk RTi38 but not sure about the crossover point between such a large sub...
