    Receiver for bass shakers?

I can't imagine buying a receiver to drive shakers other than a used one. Are there any stores near you that sell used equipment? If not, I'd look at a couple of smaller sub plate amps. I happened to have an old Realistic receiver that is still going strong. http://www.timn8er.com/bass_shakers.htm

What do you guys do with all your old DIY projects?

I'd been using the Extremis in a two-way design prior to this. I demo'd it at a local audio club meeting along with my little bookshelf. They were both well received and I was told that if I could get the highs of the bookshelf out of the two-way it would be wonderful. At the same time I had...

Doggone it Dan, I was having fun until you posted that picture.

    Full range floor standing kits

The Extremis 6.8 has an exceptionally stable impedance across a large portion of it's frequency range. So much so that two Extremis wired in parallel have a nominal impedance far above 4 ohms. Much of it is around 7 ohms. I'll leave it to you whether or not that is suitable for your amp. For...

    Full range floor standing kits

Wouldn't it be something if somebody built a tower using 4 Extremis, WR125 mids and a ribbon tweeter?

    Full range floor standing kits

Yes. I suspect you'll see several designs appearing over the next couple of months.

    Full range floor standing kits

I second the Extremis based builds. The Extremis is a world class driver and at $99 it's a serious bargain. I can't think of a 6.5" driver that can touch it and that includes the $200+ DST drivers. I built a two-way with a Morel tweeter that hit -3db at 36 Hz! What's just as amazing is that...

    DIY cabinet vs. PE cabinet

If you like the PE boxes and would prefer that over building from scratch I suggest looking for designs that will fit in that box size. Minor volume changes (say 10%) will not have a major impact and can sometimes even be compensated by changing the port. Check the Madisound website for Morel...

Best 2Chann Bookshelves for music at around 500

I don't understand why that's surprising. Treated paper cones are stiff and light. It's a nearly ideal material. There are plenty of tweeters that can reach 50K.

Best 2Chann Bookshelves for music at around 500

Yep, brand new. Based on the WR125S XBL^2 powered driver developed for Creative Sound Solutions by Adire Audio. Tweeter is the Fostex FT207D. Cabinets are very good quality. You could easily go without a sub initially. Granted, it's not going to hit the 20's but it will get below 50Hz.

    Anyone heard of visaton

The Visaton B200 is quite popular amongst the "full-range" and "open-baffle" crowd. It is supposed to be quite enjoyable in OB and is usually accompanied by a large woofer in the same baffle, similar to the Eminence Beta series woofers. You can imagine what size baffle we're talking about (~48"...

Read Enough To Be Dangerous! Really Need Sub Help.

No idea. I built the LowQ vented design and I think it's very good. I've also built a LowQ Shiva and a MidQ Tempest and I prefer the low Q designs.

Read Enough To Be Dangerous! Really Need Sub Help.

If you don't have tools now you should consider whether or not to start buying them. If this is to be your only project then the cost is absolutely not worth it. In this case, get a kit. If you're certain to be building lots of stuff (even other than speakers) get a table saw and a router for...

Try to use router bits with a 1/2" shaft. Much less vibration. The skinny shafts don't hold up nearly as well.
