edge and corner focus really isn't a top priority for manufacturers of CRT RPTV's. 99% of people focus their eyes onto the center of the screen, this is also where most of the action in movies takes place. Now if you use it for any computer work or videogames that may have static images in...
no, you will need something else to convert the 720p to 1080i, because it will not upconvert nor display it. it will just provide you with a very vibrant blue screen
you could. it is usually better to have the two fronts and center channel from the same manufacturer. surrounds are not quite as important, since when viewing movies approx 60% of sound comes from the center channel, and probably another 10-15% from L/R. the Athena AS-F2's are a nice set of...
that definitely has not been my observation. Sound and surround quality/quantity seems to vary greaty from one DVD to the next. some studios I guess refuse to follow guidelines. I prefer DTS ES discrete to DD EX. But there is almost no DTS ES discrete DVD's
what do you mean? the only name I...
those speakers are designed by former polk audio engineer, so it's no wonder they are better than previous year sony circuit city speakers. as far as what you can buy from CC or Best Buy, IMO Athena speakers sound even better
this is sometimes true, Monitor Gold Ref series is a good example. However, good solid speakers, especially towers, should have a good weight behind them. Do you think a speaker is going to sound as good with 1/4 in plywood instead of 3/4 MDF?
I was reading the specs. The weight on some of them is low for a big tower. Low weight means they are using thinner MDF panels or maybe even particle board. Maybe for that price you got to assemble them yourself
I've pretty much decided in my mind that I am going to go DLP projector. Ease of use, no hassles with a big bulky installs, and better warranty. Now I just need to go see some, maybe ill take a trip to Tweeter this weekend. I've researched a new TV off and on for about 2yrs, never could decide...
Well, I am actually leaning more towards DLP and just keeping my JVC for normal TV viewing. I'm gonna head to some shops maybe this weekend and check them out. from what I've gathered about CRT RPTV, ?questionable 720p support?, one hidden cost that is generally not mentioned is servicing or...
Yea, I was actually reading up on some of the DLP projectors. One that caught my eye was the BenQ PB6200. What are lamp replacement costs? nevermind. $399 bucks for a replacement lamp. Ack
yah, I meant RPTV, I couldn't edit my title. I actually saw a 42in Daewoo Plasma HDTV(not EDTV) at Sams for $3300. I may extend the budget it all depends Thanks for the help. I was also thinking about getting a really large 4:3. Is your Philips a 4:3
after getting 10yrs of service from my trusty 31in JVC TV, I'm going widescreen. I'm totally confused though what to get. My budet will be around $2000. I want a TV that is going to LAST. Are JVC still quality products? This 31in is still cranking a long after 10yrs. I was leaning towards...
developed an amp buzz. PE sent me a replacement amp, model 300-792, and I'm back in bizness. Still can't figure out why they would replace a $99 sub with a $99 amplifier :) but who I am to argue, and what great service. They still have people up until this day wanting to order that sub, and it...
sony 4es, great price, lots of featurs that allow you to the tailor the sound to your liking. go listen to them if you can. Marantz is good too, very musical, but I've read complaints about noise. Denon is just overpriced
how's it a downgrade? the 4ES uses newer dsp ic's, and weighs 4kg more. The only thing on the 4ES that stinks is the remote. Sony did drop the Virtual EX modes on the 4ES. If you want 7.1, then go for the 4ES, or add a nice amp to your 5ES. Both will be good
the 4ES is way better than that onkyo. onkyo tx-sr600 is not even in the same ballpark we're talking about a receiver that weighs 46lbs (the sony 4es) against a receiver that weighs 25lbs (the onkyo) no contest
do you have anything plugged into the switched A/C plugs in the back? if so, I'd remove them. They are a draw on the electrical supply. And as someone pointed out, I've read a few reports about polk speakers and having issues with low impendence drops
I doubt it is being replaced yet. Sony has never been that fast at replacing a product. the 4ES doesn't even have a year under its belt yet. Maybe Mid-year they will release something else. Probably to add i-Link to it
I have black vcr, black tv, black cd changer, black receiver, black speakers, black subwoofer, dark grey cable box, had a silver dvd player, absolutely hated it, returned it for a black dvd player(upgraded model as well) I try my best to keep a little continuity with my componenets. no...
