    Subwoofer Out Problem

Yes, I'm still using the same type of cable (dif brand, but still a sub cable). With a short cable it works, with the long run it sent signal to the mini-stereo I used for testing but stopped sending signal when I hooked the sub back up with the same cable. JL

    Subwoofer Out Problem

Hello, hopefully someone has some insight into a problem I am having with my reciever's subwoofer out. I've been slowly upgrading my system, Ascend in the front, HTD in the back, and a Tempest/PE 250 sub so far. I just completed the wiring and was able to move the subwoofer from right next to...

MCACC vs. EZ-Set vs. Why Bother?

Hello, reposting this...it got deleted when the database was corrupted. I was basically asking about the different flavors of Pioneer's MCACC which it uses to automatically configure speakers to a given room. I was also curious as to how it compared to HK's EZ-Setup and if any other...

    Powered sub with passive speakers?

Thanks Matt, I hate asking such basic questions but it wasn't clear to me that the power from my receiver would be passed on to the bookshelf's without damaging the sub. JL

    Powered sub with passive speakers?

How do you go about hooking up a powered sub to reinforce passive speakers? I would like to use a dls with some passive bookshelves in a HT setup but I don't think I can run the powered signal from my receiver through the sub to the mains. Buying a new amp for the bookshelves is not...

    5 TB's + 1 ST?

The 4" look like they go lower but still get high enough to cross over with the tweeter around 12k (I think). I am looking at adding the tweeter because I've read reviews where builders have felt they were lacking. I almost understand that I need to add a 'step' to the second driver so...

    Infinity 2000.4/2000.2 question

thanks Robb, does anyone know a good resource to try and track down the drivers/tweeters they use in these? JL

    5 TB's + 1 ST?

has anyone made a HT setup with something like 5, 3" TBs and 1 supertweeter per cabinet? I'm getting my head around the sub thing but I am still a total fool in regards to non-sub speaker design. I just noticed that the rms on the tangbands is only 15w. My HT amp is 100/channel so I should...

    Infinity 2000.4/2000.2 question

Hello, I currently use infinity reference 2000.4 for my front speakers (5.1 HT). I'm looking for matching center and rear (I currently use a cerwinvega center and no rears). I was told that the 2000.2 use the same drivers as the 2000.4 - anyone know if that is the case? Does anyone know...

    My 1st Sub Project

Okay, perhaps I just needed a little push.... I upped my budget some and ordered the Tempest driver and the PE 250w amp. After carefully considering the room placement I've decided the ported adire alignment will fit best. Sears was having a craftsman sale so I picked up the tablerouter...

    My 1st Sub Project

Thanks Jon, They don't have any listings post-1980 but there was some good info and a link to a site where people trade mauals that might really help. I noticed on the site that your amp is a quad with 4x40 or 2x60 (at least the qx-949 is). Do you know which way you have yours hooked up...

    My 1st Sub Project

Ok,here are the room measurements to go with my pixel art: these should make sense if you look at the room.jpg and think of it like a 2D box. Height is 13' 4" width is 14' 4" Archway is 6' 2" the entranceway into the dining room is 9' 2" wide the dining room height is 11'...

    My 1st Sub Project

Thanks for the advice so far. I'll take some measurements of the room tonight, including the adjoining rooms since there is basically no wall dividing them. On the question of the amp, I'll have to check the model number when I get home but last time I checked I couldn't get any specs on how...

    My 1st Sub Project

Hello, My name is John, I'll be attempting to construct my 1st speaker soon and I can definitely use advice. I'm starting with a subwoofer because that is what I most need. I used to use an old pair of pioneer tower speakers with 10" drivers as my mains and they worked well with subwoofer...
