Just hooked up a Toshiba 27AF44 for my parents. When viewing from the DirecTiVo, there is a screech in the right channel. This does not occur from the antenna. However, the DirecTiVo works with the TV that this just replaced, an old Sony. Any ideas? Any way to contact Toshiba technical support?
So the UPS man finally came yesterday. The tracking said it was coming on Monday, but it never came, and then it showed "Package missed, no delivery attempt made." which makes it sound like they just forgot about me, but I digress. Anyway, my first surround sound system arrived in four large...
I know the standard 12 gauge speaker wire most people recommend is either Sound King from partsexpress or from Home Depot. Don't know if either of those work for the UK though.
Ok, I know it's supposed to go in a corner, but I have two options. I'm using a Dayton 10" sub with the H/K AVR-225 and the Fluance SX-HTB. The crossover on the 225 is fixed at 100.
Option 1: Put the sub next to the couch near the rear left speaker in the corner.
Option 2: Put the sub up front...
I bought a Toshiba 50HDX82 about a year ago. Now I have returned to HTF to ask questions about my surround sound system (on a UPS truck somewhere out there!), and I also have a question about my TV.
When I play DVDs, on solid colors, mostly light solid colors, I get.. lines. Vertical and...
Hey, I just ordered my first HT system (Fluance SX-HTB, Dayton 10" sub, and H/K AVR-225 receiver) and am eagerly awaiting its arrival. I have two questions: 1. The crossover on the 225 is set at 100. I have been reading that it's a little high and 80 is ideal. The 225 was highly recommended...
Hehe, no no, I have a DVD player. It's nothing special, I bought it before I knew anything about HT, but it plays DVDs. :) A nice progressive-scan one should come in the next couple months when my parents want this one for their room. Until then, the good old JVC it is.
I just want to say thank you to everybody at the HomeTheaterForum. You guys have helped me pick out my first home theater system, which is... Fluance SX-HTB Dayton 10" Sub Harman-Kardon AVR-225 Receiver 100' x 2 of Sound King 12 ga wire from partsexpress I'm feeling pretty good about...
Ok, I have decided to go with the Fluance SX-HTB and the Dayton 10" subwoofer. Here is my shortlist of receivers to pair them with: Onkyo TX-SR501 Pioneer VSX-D812K (Maybe 912K but that stretches the budget) H/K AVR-225 (There have been many positive things said about this but I don't know...
Another question.. The Pioneer 912K also looks like a good receiver. I know it probably won't have as much power, but it seems to have better features. Any comments? Any comments on any other receivers? Are the "features" just gimmicks? Also, a couple of wire questions.. 1. Will I need...
Alright, I think I have decided what to go with for my home theater system. It will be for my living room, which is 15'x25', and will be used 99% of the time for home theater (movies/DirecTV). Fluance SX-HTB Dayton 10" from partsexpress H/K AVR-225 refurb from pcmall Total is around...
Hey guys, it's been a while since I've been around HTF. Last time I was here was a year ago looking for recommendations for a RPTV (I got a Toshiba 50HDX82, I love it). Now I'm looking at getting the surround sound component of my home theater. Problem is, I'm having a much harder time...
I have a projector that only has composite inputs. I need to get an antenna signal into it. How do I do this? I was thinking a coax to composite converter. Do these exist?
If you want open phones, go for the Grado SR60's. If you want closed phones, go for the Sony MDR-V6's. Not V600s. Check out headphone.com and post over at the first discussion board under Talking Stuff. Lots of help.
Do you want open or closed headphones? Open - Don't block out sound, let out some sound, better sound quality Closed - Block out some sound, keep in most sound, good but not as good sound quality If you want open phones, the Grado SR-60's are recommended a lot and are supposedly...
This won't be what you want to hear, but let me say it anyway. You should look into the Toshiba line, specifically the XXHDX82. I just got the 50HDX82, and it's pretty darn good. Good stretch modes for 4:3 material, looks great on DVD's, and pretty cheap too. When you're this early in your...
Alright guys, what's the best DVD to calibrate my budding Home Theater with? I have a Toshiba 50HDX82 TV, and will soon have a audio system. But for now, the TV. And my second question, will I see a lot of improvement by calibrating with Avia (or other)?
Or maybe I want to upgrade the sub. Don't think I can manage an SVS (damn those sound nice). What's something in between 199 and 599 that sounds good? Somewhere around 299 would be cool. Or should I upgrade the center instead?
So this is what I've come up with for my $1000 budget surround sound system. 25 x 15' wood floor room, only TV/DVD/VHS watching, little to no music. Pioneer 811S - 329 N26II Mains - 129 N Center II 99 N26II Surrounds - 129 Sony WM40 Subwoofer - 170 Total - 856 As you can see, I have...
Hey guys. I'm looking for a nice Home Theater Audio system to complement my Toshiba 50HDX82 TV. My room is 25' by 15', and my budget is around $1000 for 5 speakers, a sub, and a receiver. This sysetm is only for TV/DVD/VHS, with virtually no music listening. I think I've compiled a decent system...
Hey guys. I just recently bought a 50" Widescreen Toshiba 50HDX82 RPTV, and now I'm looking into audio options, and I need some help. I decided to start my search in receivers. My room is 25' x 15', and the system will be used for TV (satellite and antenna) and DVD and VHS movies. My price range...
Hey guys. Just bought a new 50" Toshiba 50HDX82 based on recommendations over at the DIsplay forum, and now I'm in the hunt for a nice audio system to complement it. My budget for the system is up to $1000, with maybe a little give but not much. My room is around 25' x 15', with my TV on the 25'...
Hey, just set up my 50HDX82 today, and it's looking great. Watched Spiderman and parts of LOTR, they're excellent. My antenna feed is surprisingly good too. But my satellite seems terrible. Any way to improve that signal? I went through all the menus. Turned contrast to 35 and brightness to...
Hello everybody. I'm a new user to these forums, but I've been reading them extensively, and you guys have been very helpful. But now I have some questions of my own. I am looking into purchasing a new RPTV within the next month or so. My price range is about $2000-$2500, that being bought...
