    how to- adire tempest connection?

Read the Tempest White Paper, page 10. I you can do it either way, shorted or just leave the unused one open. Shorting the unused voice coil affects the Qts of the driver. http://www.adireaudio.com/Files/TempestWhitePaper.PDF Bill

Do I want to stuff my ported Tempest AA?

Well, I stuffed it close to Adire's wishes, I used 60 ounces of polyfil. It was the loose kind but, if you take it out of the package it will unroll like a sheet. I puled each sheet apart in 1/4's and stuffed it in each section of the enclosure. When I watched Matrix Revolutions the Sub belched...

I have been using PEQ ver 1.05b for the last 3 days and changing the filter settings to see if I can get my sub to sound better with a house curve. http://www.pvconsultants.com/audio/eq/peq.htm[/url] The BFD is on it's way here. I thought I could get my filters all set and just insert them...

Graham, I'll start a new thread, "Tempest Pictures". Allen Ross has been kind enough to post them for me. I also sent one of my home made circle jig for the router. I built the Sub over at my next door neighbors as he has everything! He only helped me glue it up, I did everything else. He...

Tempest AA SPL's Do I need a BFD???

I posted this over in the DIY forum and did not get the answers I need. If I do need a BFD, where should I start with setting up the filters on it? I don't have a clue as what to do! I know it can hit harder than it does now from what I have read. I just got my Tempest AA up and running...

a BIG THANK YOU to everybody here! My Tempest is done

I thought I should post a BIG THANK YOU to everybody here. With out you and the Forum I would have never tried to build a Tempest AA! I am not a wood guy at all and you all made it very easy for me to build it. I have never used a router before and I even made my own circle jig with your help...

Tempest AA SPL's Do I need a BFD???

I just got my Tempest AA up and running last night. I watched Matrix Revolutions as the first movie, (I've been saving it just for this). I can say it kills my 2 Sony SA-WM40's down low! I set it up 5 dB hot and my room is 2900 cubic feet. Volume was set to -10dB and I sit 13 feet away from the...

How to seal the cut ends of MDF before painting?

I want to paint my Tempest AA box this weekend. How do I seal the cut ends of the MDF so they will stop soaking up all the paint? I never could get the cut edges of the MDF top plate of my speaker stands to look good because it kept soaking up paint. I didn't use a primer on them. Will a filling...

How to install Barbed Body insert nuts ?

Bob, I do not know how to post pictures. I can take some with my neighbors camera. I have the 4 sides, top and the braces all glued up. I also made the cut out for the amp and drilled the screw holes for it and the ports. The glue must of made the MDF swell up as I had a hell of a time getting...

How to install Barbed Body insert nuts ?

I bought Parts Express # 081-1094 Barbed body insert nuts to mount my Tempest. Do I install them from inside like a Tee nut or from the outside? If I install them from the outside, how do I flush mount them so the Tempest makes contact all the way around? I do not have a 1/2" router bit to use...

3 inch port tube Adire vs Parts Express

I'm building a Tempest, Adire alignment Design. I've read just about every thread on here about the Tempest and let me tell you there is a lot of them! Are the Parts Express #268-350 3 inch port kit the same as the Adire FP-3? Do they use the same hole size? The price is 13.50 vs 19.00. I can...

Two receivers, one set of speakers

I want to hook up 2 receivers to just my front left and right speakers to A/B the sound of the receivers. I can use a splitter on my Coaxial out on the DVD player, hook one cable to each receiver and run speaker wires from the second receiver to the speakers. I then could turn on one receiver...

Yamaha YPAO settings, what did you pick?

Jeff, I did not change any settings on the GEQ so I could see what the differance was between PEQ set to front and no EQ at all. That would be just turning PEQ off and on, would you not think? Clear? ;)

Yamaha YPAO settings, what did you pick?

Justin, I'm not a real good one to ask as I'm an old rock n roller who worked in an industrial setting for years. To me the Yamaha kicks the Onkyo's butt everywhere except for the tuner! I went from 5.1 to 7.1 in a big room and it's just more detailed and clear. I watched some of the nascar...

Yamaha YPAO settings, what did you pick?

Just got my 1400 Friday. It replaced a Onkyo TX-SR500. I have Polk RTi70's, CSi40, 4 RTi38's and 2 Sony SA-WM 40 subwoofers. I calibrated all speakers to 75 dB with the internal tones on the Yamaha with volume set to 00. That makes the pair of Subs 81 dB. I watched Blade II yesterday and hit a...

Can I somehow connect 2 subwoofers to my Onkyo HTS-650 HTiB??

Kurt, I have never heard the Dayton sub, but people on here like them. Do a search on Dayton subs in this forum. I replaced my Onkyo sub with a Sony SA-WM40 and it made a BIG change. When the Sony was discontinued I bought another one. Two of them side by side gave me 6 dB more and that's how I...

Can I somehow connect 2 subwoofers to my Onkyo HTS-650 HTiB??

You want both Subs to be the same sitting side by side. You will get 6 more dB by adding the other Sub. A Y splitter on the Sub Pre Out and another Sub cable is all it takes to hook it up. Go to Onkyo's website and see if they have a sub for sale that is the same as yours. Or look on eBay.

    Yamaha RX-V1400 or Dennon AVR-2803

I'm in the same boat as you but, there is nowhere with in 4 hours of me to listen to a Yamaha. I use Polk RTI70's and 38's with a CSi40.

Polk speakers again. What would you do? Help me decide

Guess I should of said my 38's are 3'4" behind my listening area. If I go 6.1 the rear center will be 8' behind the 38's and on top of the china cabinet. I can not get the 38's beside the listening area because the room is not wide enough and there is a tall window on the left side. Bill

Polk speakers again. What would you do? Help me decide

Yea, it's me again. I just bought 4 RTi38's and a CSi40 Center. I can take one pair of the RTi38's back and get a pair of RTi70's for $282.00 more. What would you do? My room is 11'3" 33' X 8. Part of it is the dinning room. I have an Onkyo TX-SR500 receiver, but plan to upgrade it in a...
