Need expert TV repair advice - please help (JVC 32" flatscreen)

Please forgive the length of this post... My problem is that I have a 32" flatscreen JVC model AV-32F703 which I wish I had never purchased. I recommend everyone stay away from this model because it has many problems (screen tilt, moire, won't hold color settings) I'm on my second...

    Opinion on Kenwood HTB-505

I may be mistaken about the click sound happening when the sub 'wakes' back up from standby mode. However, I am certain that it happens when the sub goes INTO standby mode. Unfortunately I use my amp for all sound (watching normal tv as well as movies), and it seems that while watching normal tv...

    Opinion on Kenwood HTB-505

I have the Kenwood HTB-505 (purchased at BB about 4 months ago). I'm fairly happy with it. If you are a home theater beginner (like myself) it does the job pretty well. Sure, the picky audiophiles say HTB systems suck, but if you're on a budget and want something decent, this system is great...

    television distorted

I hate to tell you, but you aren't going to find any adjustments in the service or user menu that will allow you to correct this problem. I've already been down this road. I purchased a JVC 32" flatscreen (AV-F3702) a few months ago and it had this exact same 'tilt' problem. It is not fixable...

    Ghosting in Cable TV

This problem can also be caused by using a long length of coax cable. Basically the cable acts as an antenna, causing a ghost image. I had this same problem myself and just resolved it the other day by drastically shortening the length of coax I was using.

Can moire (wavy lines) be fixed?

I haven't tried to compare a single source on more than one input, however I have noticed the problem both on the composite input with digital cable as well as on the component input with my dvd player. The problem was very noticable when running the AVIA calibration disc. I'm past the 30 day...

Can moire (wavy lines) be fixed?

I recently bought a 32" flatscreen JVC. When viewing it, a moire pattern is very visible in a circle pattern around the screen and it is annoying me greatly. I have been doing some research on fixing this problem and found that it can be resolved by manually 'lessening' the focus on the set...

Composite to S-Video Converter - is it worth it?

Hello, I spend most of my TV time watching cable television rather than DVDs. I have AT&T digital cable, unfortunately the Motorola cable box they provided me with only has composite/rca output jacks (no s-video out). This bothers me because I want the best picture possible through my cable...

Wavy Lines on the sides of JVC AV-32F703

I recently purchased this exact same set (AV-32F703). I had to exchange it for same due to crt defects on the first set, and got the replacement about a week ago. I have noticed this exact same moire problem on the new set...in exactly the same place described in this post (about 1/4 of the way...

Save My Friend Before It's To Late

I recently purchased a JVC I'Art television, and I for one do not appreciate you referring to my new set as a 'piece of shit'. If you think other brands are better, then state your reasons. There is plenty of room in this forum for discussion, but no room for people to put down the choices...

    Why is VSM bad?

In reading these forums it seems that the universal opinion is to disable VSM (velocity scan modulation) whenever possible. I know that VSM is supposed to sharpen the edges on images, and to my thinking a sharper image is a better image (within reason) no? I've found a description of VSM...

    Professional Calibration?

It is my understanding that the reason why the televisions are not set to their 'optimum settings' when they are sold is twofold: 1) A properly calibrated set tends to look darker than one fresh out of the box. Manufacturers want their sets to attract people's attention in the store and say...

    Professional Calibration?

I can relate to the poster's frustration. I recently spent around $1000 on a nice 32" flatscreen (price includes service, delivery, cables, etc...) and I was much dismayed when I discovered that the set didn't look all that great because it was overly bright with heavy color saturation. Being a...

    JVC Geometry Problem: Screen Tilt

Thanks Steve, Unfortunately I have been through every single option in the user menu, and have torn the instruction manual apart, and there are no 'advanced video' options anywhere in the User menu. I am honestly starting to think that this $800 television has no method for adjusting the...

Can I leave the subwoofer on?

Hello, Forgive the newbie question, but I just recently bought a Kenwood HTB-505 system and I noticed that the SW has its own power switch. In reading through these threads I have seen some people who mention that they turn their subwoofer off when not using it. I have been leaving the SW...

    JVC Geometry Problem: Screen Tilt

Hello, I bought a JVC 32" AV-32F703 flatscreen about a month ago and I have noticed a problem that I cannot seem to resolve, hopefully someone can help. The picture on the screen is tilted slightly to the left. Meaning that the top right edge is higher than the top left edge. It is only...
