Current 5.1 w/ receiver, $2300, but it's much more because of the constant upgrades. It's hard but remember this, buy the best you can now, stretch your budget because if you go low end, you end up paying more as you end up selling at lost to buy the next level up.
I'll have to check my philips to see the dashes. Haven't had a problem otherwise except there was a static pop sound on a recorded program on the hdd after using the search buttons (I had heard of this prior). The latest firmware is 3.2 I believe.
It's interesting, but I do not see the point in making one, it is not worth it. Their lumenlab simple 15" projector is 12"x28"x15", that is huge, plus not attractive at all based on the pictures in the forums. Sure, they say you can build one $100-$500. For most, I would guess it is $500 and up...
Hill Street Blues was a favorite of mine as well, never watched the NYPD show. Wished HSB would be coming out soon, guess I'll have to keep waiting like the rest of the fans! :frowning:
calvin_b, I have the JBL NSP speaker set and I like it. It's my first surround set and it suits our theater use fine. Based on your 99% theater use, I think you'll like it, I'm probably 90-95% HT myself. I have not seen the AR HC6 personally but it does look like a beautiful finish and others...
Storm Riders is an ok film, nothing great, though the special effects were pretty good for a HK film. A lot of overhype, I know I hyped it up for my family, who were then a little disappointed. If memory serves me correct, this is the one where it is ok to lose a arm, just attach another one!
I 2nd that, the l300u does a very good job for hdtv viewing. Of course, I have to add that all hd is not the same, some shows shine while others don't.
Using a ota hdtv receiver, regular television isn't bad, hd material is of course very nice. Without the hdtv receiver, using analog antenna, forget it, not worth trying.
The 1st Matrix brought in a lot of hype, the 2nd and 3rd certainly did not deliver. I think the hype on the Wachowsko brothers are over if not, soon to be. Just my opinion though.
I was looking forward to this one too, glad I did not sell off my current dvd. Maybe they could not do enough with the current material to deem it a "Superbit" or after some marketing, found there is not enough of an audience for it?
dan, thanks for the summary on the radical ending. I'm glad they used the current as well. Although, the one with the doors closing behind was pretty good too.
I rented this and really liked it, unfortunately I only saw the two alternate endings, returned the disc, and missed the radical one with the storyboard. Can someone summarize what that radical ending was?
I just to be very scared of going to the dentist but now either I have overcome the fear or gotten older and wiser, it doesn't matter anymore. I had 4 wisdoms removed at once, one in the lower jaw was sideways, the rest were able to be pulled out easily. The sideways one was the hardest. Had...
Try this... Open Tray Press 1 1 1 1 (pause between each) Press 0 (for all region) Close Tray Since you are playing PAL discs, go to setup and find Video Setup, then Video Output, and finally select NTSC.
The Cyberhome 500 may not turn out to be the great player everyone is singing about. It didn't for me, I had problems with the picture on WS films near the top by the letterbox bar. Customer service at Argus wasn't much help either. The tech wanted to take a look at my player and offered to...
I thought the 500 was a great deal too with the region hack and PAL conversion but it didn't happen for me. There was a problem on the top of the picture for me. A couple examples are O brother, where art thou - during the opening when the camera scans across the field to the prisoners...
There is something going on the top of the picture when viewing widescreen movies. Right under the letterbox bar on top. I had to return the 500 because of it.
HKL does not have the rights to Hard Boiled, Tartan does. I purchased the Fox Lorber(sp?) Killer/Hard Boiled set on Ebay when I found out they were OOP and Disney had the rights to them.
