    Onkyo tx-ds989 newbie, HELP!!

If it's version 2 or upgraded, you should be able to tell by looking at the lower left below the volume control. If it's upgraded, there should be a blue sticker stating that's it's upgraded. If it's ver 2, it should state ver 2. Arnold

    Rockets?????

I heard Rocket's ELT system I do have to say I was impressed. I initially didn't think those satellites could produce loud SPL's in a room of that size. It wasn't deafening loud, but pretty darn loud. It sounded pretty darn good too! I was actually trying to demo the 750 Signature vs Classic...

M&K vs Atlantic Technology and others.

If your built-ins can accommodate 3 rather large center speakers I would recommend (3) Onix Rockets RSC200's. http://www.av123.com/products_produc...rs&product=6.1 These are really incredible speakers for center channel, which would make it even better for LCR's. My only concern is the width...

    ~$900 for a receiver: Onkyo NR900?

The NR900 does have DTS ES. Is he looking at a used NR900, as there's a newer model NR901? I don't believe either has a fan. I've owned an 919(7+yrs) and then 989ver2(

    bandwidth limitation on optical cabling?

A good glass fiber cable will have less loss than a comparable length RF cable. I know in the telecommunication field that the optical cable was susceptible to vibration. When I running bandwidth test using optical cable, I also had to make sure the test bench was not bumped which can cause suck...

New QSC RMX 1450 = bad AC hum

You may have some kind of ground loop. I have a QSC MX 700 for my sub amp and had a similar problem. I had a constant hum. I had my amp plugged into a dedicated 20 amp panel and the rest into another outlet. I started disconnecting RCA connectors til the hum disappeared. Apparently when the...

Need help with DVD-RP62 and DTS

It can't be the interconnects as it only happens with DTS and not DD. Can you get your hands on another DTS capable DVD player to rule out the AVR? It may be the DTS decoder in the AVR too. Arnold

    Preamps with built in screens

Grant, I'm planning on using the LCD screen for a video security system I plan on installing in the near future. That's one reason why I thought I should've gone to a slightly larger screen. To me, having the screen on the pre-amp just isn't as useful as having one right next to my listen...
