Just gave the Brecker a fast listen after it arrived this morning. Partial to tracks 6, 8, and 9 on first pass. Thanks for the tip Rachael - this is very very good.
The neat thing is I was channel surfing last night and on HDNet there was 'Rendezvous in NY' - Chick Corea with the '3 Quartets...
Yes, plus extra material not on the original releases, plus bonus DVD with interviews. Well worth the price.
I paid 65USD for the double SACD JATPS from First Impression Music (who had licenced this at one point and re-issued VolI and II together). Guess I like the recording :)
Released as 4.0 (no LFE)
Since its recording it has been considered one of the the holy grails of audiophile recordings (the technique and sound). It has been released on LP, HDCD, XRCD, SACD individually (VolI, II, II) and now this set which has some previously unreleased material and...
I got this one from amazon.co.uk quite some time ago (April) and it did not have the piece of cardboard inside with the serial number of the set. Let me know if yours comes with this. There were supposed to be only 3000 units pressed.
FYI I paid 23.50GBP (about 48USD today) delivered to...
Finally found a reasonably priced Digipack SACD - not the DSD CD:
Rolling Stones: Big Hits: High Tide and Green Grass (US)
That Michael Brecker disc just shipped - I'll thank you again later Rachael :)
I would also agree with that asessment dave. Much along the same lines as Everything Must Go (my least favorite SD album) with a couple of standout tracks: What A Shame About Me / Cousin Dupree. It won a Grammy I believe but there are many better Dan/Fagen releases IMHO. Worth having though...
It was on my Wishlist - now with your recommendation Rachael I'll chuck it in my Shopping Cart :). Pat Metheny always amazed me. Sometimes he 'noodles around' a bit though.
on the way:
Pilgrimage - Michael Brecker SACD
Cobb's Corner - Jimmy Cobb SACD
Decembers Children - Rolling Stones SACD
Starting to show up as preorders for 3 September http://www.cduniverse.com/productinf...frm=lk_sacdnet http://www.jpc.de/jpcng/home/detail/...n/currency/USD Looks to be the same confusion on various websites as the last bunch - whether they are full box sets or just the SACD/DVD's without...
Here are some interesting comments about the vinyl release from the man who mastered it (Steve Hoffman plus Kevin Gray): http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/sh....php?t=112807& around Page 6 people start getting their copies and making comments.
They are touring around Canada right now and as well as the major areas they have been playing impromptu spots like bus depots, YMCA's, on their tour Bus with a few fans, etc etc. Plus they have been playing venues in the Arctic to 400 to 600 people. Really cool that they are doing this...

pricey, but hey :emoji_thumbsup:
Might as well pick up the Weather Report - Black Market SACD while you are there :)
I'd buy more if I could find it - dribs and drabs. Going back for DCC Gold CD's and MFSL's at the moment. Getting enough new released hi-res to whet the appetite.
For those of you that listen to Classical, Naxos has just gone online with their Naxos Direct website which includes a lot of good...
The funny thing about buying this 'again' is that I still have probably a flawless LP. When it first came out I bought it and really did not like it (compared to the first 3 albums) and it has been put away since. I wasn't into fusion then and it was a shocker to me for Santana to move in that...
I need to stay off the Internet, on the way:
Bartok: Concerto For Orchestra - Fritz Reiner (Living Stereo SACD)
Dvorak & Walton: Cello Concertos - Munch (Living Stereo SACD)
The Jobim Songbook in New York - David Hazeltine Trio (Chesky SACD)
The Hazeltine is the latest release from Chesky...
HDCD's
King Crimson - In The Court Of The Crimson King - Japan MiniLP CD
King Crimson - Larks Tongues In Aspic - Japan MiniLP CD
DTS-HD Master Lossless Audio - is this hi-res or just lossless 'something or other'. Have not read up on the specs.
I need to get to Vancouver more, compared to out here in the sticks those are good prices :), especially since they actually 'have' something in stock.
The local A&B Sound in Kelowna moved this spring and it is hard enough to get older CD's....no SACD, no DVDA. They used to have 2 floors...
eBay - new/unsealed Ex.
Total for both was 68CAD shipped from same seller. Was my lucky day :)
I had my hands on them 6 months ago in the local Future Shop and never bought them. They are all long gone from there now - no DVDA whatsoever.
ABKCO did this will all their initial SACD releases.
The SACD's were released in digipaks, then the follow up DSD CD's were released in jewel cases 'with the same UPC/Item codes'.
Rolling Stones, Sam Cooke, Herman's Hermits, The Animals. Confusin eh......
If it is a digipak, it is SACD...
