Perhaps it is just me, but I don't see how seamless branching is even possible with the TE's and EE's - not without really changing one of them. FOTR Examples: - The shire intro; Different scenes altogether in different order, different Frodo-Gandalf dialogue, different music arrangement...
Was it not pretty clear that we only were shown very quick glimpses of the battle? It was not the main focus of the episode. I would not draw any tactical conclusions from that. This was not like "Hand of God" were the battle was given 100% of our attention, either through Viper shots or from...
For the vast majority of shows, this is quite common. Especially if your premiere episode is promoted heavily. For the first couple of episodes the viewer numbers fall until a "stable" viewer base is found. If the show is lucky, that base viewer number is high enough to justify the show. If not...
I must say that I am very surprised by some of the complaints in this thread. I though the film was highly enjoyable, and it seemed to be warmly recieved by the audience. B+/A- from me!
I hestitate to revive the overly technical discussion about the show's FTL, but I thought this might be of interest. In a new behind-the-scenes video on SciFi's site, the visual effects supervisor (Gary Hutzel) confirms the theory that some of us have speculated about the show's FTL travel...
Yes, it was a good episode. I did not see Baltar as vice-president coming until a minute or so before she asked him. And the Caprica story-line just got a lot more interesting...
Well, the Vipers do appears to have two ways of changing directions: 1. By gimballing/vectoring the main engines (See Apollo's frog-leap after hovering in "The Hand of God") - The typical way rockets orient themselves. 2. Using manuevering thrusters to rotate the Viper on a dime. (but not...
My personal imaginary explanation :) about that is that the engines aren't actually producing thrust all of the time - they are just idling "hot" - for quick reaction time. One kind of propulsion that culd theoretically provide the kind of thrust-to-weight ratio that Vipers have demonstrated...
I'm not a physicist by any means, but... Actually, it is quite different than B5's "jumps". In B5, one could view the hyperspace jumps as "intersecting" (as you put it) a normal space point with a hyperspace point, and jumping between them. They would then be in "hyperspace", a separate...
Ernest,
I think you may be attributing more planning and foresight than Paramount deserves. I doubt thay had this master plan all thought out - they just tried to make the best movies they could at the time. I also disagree that a TNG movie has to "earn" its fun (a well written comedy can be...
Todd, "Jammer's reviews" (http://www.st-hypertext.com/index.shtml) has lots of reviews for many series, and it has short paragraph reviews of all the TOS episodes. (scroll down to the bottom of the main page, and click on a season) Unfortunately he does not cover TNG (yet?), but he does have...
A wrinkle in time... Hmmm... Could the island be part of some "philadelphia"-type experiment military experiment gone wrong, causing it to fade in and out of our reality/dimension/time every 16 years? The french lady arrived 16 years ago, and perhaps the radio operators picked up the numbers...
They seem to believe in love, pain, and other "emotional" things (something one would think machines do not need) - why not other things as well? And what if the Cylons found evidence of a "god"? (Who says it has to be "man made creation Religion"?)
Yes, I see no problem with intelligent machines tackling some "religious" questions either, probing for information about questions they cannot answer. It's not exactly a new thing in Sci-Fi either. Remember "V'Ger" in ST:TMP? "is there nothing more?" The Cylons may have discovered an...
Well, so far the following gods have been mentioned: - Apollo ("Bastille Day") - Arthemis ("You can't go home again"/"Flesh & Bone") - Athena ("You can't go home again"/"Flesh & Bone") Perhaps I am jumping to conlusion to think that these gods are the lords of Kobol when it perhaps has...
Well, the obvious one is that the lords of Kobol appear to be exact same Gods as old greek mythology. This cannot IMO be a coincidence. A theory that just occured to me: (having only seen up to "flesh & bone") The greek gods were "real" - powerful aliens that abducted humans to colonials...
Another awesome episode... The last two episodes have been very "talky", but probably my favorites so far. (Usually I prefer action episodes) ;) I think it is becoming clear that the Cylons view themselves as human. Or more than human. But yet they are trying to understand something about...
It still does not belong in this thread. I have edited the press-release quote, but thanks for pointing out what most of us had not idea yet was a spoiler to begin with. Now we know, thanks a lot! (duh!)
Official news about Season 2! :) Galactica Returns This Summer SCI FI Channel announced that the second season of its hit original series Battlestar Galactica will premiere this summer, with 20 new episodes. ... Source: http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire2005/i...ory=0&id=30466 I guess...
Amen to that. To try to come up with such a convoluted explanation for what just was poor production values in TOS just brings to mind the phrase "continuity porn". Are they going to explain how TOS got their cheap looking sets and funky viewscreens as well? Ridiculus. I enjoyed the...
