I thought this is always the case for successful trilogy film making. Look at Back to the Future, Matrix, and yes, The Empire Strike Back. The first sequal always leave you wanting for more. If two sequals are not enough, they may go for the prequal. A young Jack Sparrow movie, maybe? I...
I have no problem with the PQ. I have seen it in cinema and I can say the transfer is pretty accurate. Digital artifact and EE are hardly noticeable from my display. I can't say the image isn't sharp enough but its not soft either. The detail level is the same with a typical Sony DVD release.
I also find the picture quality of Superman Returns in Region 3 to be... a bit noisy. And the Region 1's and Region 3's transfer from WB is always indentical. The noise I am certain is not film gain, but looked like the noise when you enhance the color too much. But then I believe the problem...
Get the region 3 two disc. The 2nd disc is about 7.8GB (more than feature itself) and the content is superb (widescreen documentaries). Until now I still can't finish it. Then get the Blu-Ray version if you like, and you will have EVERYTHING and no need for double dip. I don't really care...
Okay, I can foresee a headline like this: Superman failed to fly in box office... and HD-DVD combo. This movie deserves a Dolby TrueHD track. I can see why Warner more in favor of Batman than Superman. :)
Why they even waste time to develope this? Please put more effort on universal player. Consumers would rather buy more expensive universal player than lots of more expensive multi-format disc. This is a very bad idea. We pay more, we get less (in term of single layer content).
Robert, the aspect ratio for Phantom fo the Opera is 2.40:1, which is supposed to have black bar on top and bottom even on a widescreen HDTV like yours. See the first picture in Steve's reply for example. How did Phantom of the Opera DVD fill up your screen is beyond me. Are you using...
Maybe Robert wants to show us some photos about what it looked like? But have anyone think of this? 2.35:1 and 2.40:1 materials being anamorphic on HD-DVD? I think it would be very sweet with the extra resolutions. We may not be seeing the advantage now but after few years when the LCD...
I for one just don't think the longer Poseidon will enhance the movie. Based on the existing characters development in theatrical cut, I think more of it will slow the movie down. We will all get bored while wait for the disaster to happen. After all, Jack and Rose weren't in it. More action...
Charlie with Isolated score? in Dolby TrueHD? I supposed we can sing-a-long with the musical numbers in high quality sound. (What's the point?) And could administrator please remove the right-click disabled function? I am so used to open the links here in new windows because they take time to...
Hi def extras? This is amazing. How did they cram everything into a single layer Bluray disc? Maybe the reviewer should review the picture quality of extras as well.
Great news. The digital screening of Polar Express was absolutely breathtaking. To be able to re-create that experience at home would be dream comes true. Bluray need to speed up.
For now, I am happy with my collection of Spielberg's films in SD-DVD. I need to watch them few more times before the studio release HD version. So I hope it will take at least one or two more years, until studios have better vision on this format war. What is the very first title of...
I bet you all are still waiting for Fantastic Four 2-disc version, which I believe will hit the store before Fantastic Four 2 come out. So when will be the best time for X-Men 3 2-disc to come out? I guess there will be an X-Men 4. Oh Fox...
