My ideal setup would be an 80" 4K display, the Onkyo TX-NR1030 Atmos Receiver and a pair of PC12-Plus subwoofers. Haven't yet found the ideal speakers that I'd want in my dream setup.
On a similar topic, I have the low voltage lights out front of my house and on Saturday, they were the targets of vandals. They took out 6 of them. Then came back a few nights later taking out more of them. Needless to say, I no longer have low voltage lights outside now. What's...
Things to consider? PARKING PARKING PARKING My wife and I had a townhouse (purchased by me when single). It was a garage unit, so we had two parking spots, one in the garage, the other in the driveway. We had something like 6 visitor spots for 30 some houses, and residents usually parked in...
Actually the way the switch works is it is always passing a small bit of current through the load (light bulb) in order to detect the X10 signal. That switch is so you can stop this flow of electricity, making it safer to change the light bulb when it burns out. It does render the push button...
You could keep them in slimline cases, affix a small number to the spine, and use a program like DVD Profiler (www.dvdprofiler.com) to keep track of them. Then you could print out a neat little coffee table book of your collection for friends and family to look through. When they pick one, note...
I used something similar when I was back in college. Mine started to sag under the weight of my receiver, so you may want to keep an eye on that, although it sounds like the Xbox is your heaviest component. Cheers
So far I only have 3 QS4's in the rear, don't have the budget yet to replace my front speakers (but I did get the SVS 16-46+ ;) ) and I'm running it with a Yamaha RXV-1300. Everything sounds good to me, and I expect it to get even better when I have similar speakers all around. Currently my...
Thank you Adam and Marc for the information. Now I need to see if I can get the high dollar speakers past the financial advisor (wife). Also, would there be any problems if I went with 4/6 ohm setting on the receiver but used 8 ohm speakers for the front? I would imagine not as the manual says...
Greetings all, I've recently upgraded my receiver to the Yamaha RXV-1300 and now I'm looking at new speakers. I've pretty much decided on Axiom speakers as they are highly rated here and approved by the wife. My question is this: Am I better off getting one step down from the top of the...
It's all part of the suspense. If they showed all of the wheeling and dealing, then it wouldn't be a surprise who gets voted out. Notice in this last episode they showed a lot of talk about how Matt was the one going. Then, bam, at TC, it was Shawna. Standard misdirection. Told my family during...
I should also add that my front speakers are currently 10+ year old Pioneer speakers that will be upgraded once I decide on what the surrounds should be. I want all of the speakers to be from the same company for timber matching. Thanks, James
My living room is 12'x18'. The rear wall is only 6' wide, the other 6' is an opening, floor to ceiling, into the kitchen. On the front wall is a 50" TV and a 9' wide entertainment center around it. The sectional sofa (looks like a big L) is against the back 6' wall and extends partially into the...
Guy, Thanks for the link, but the cherry finish won't get past the WAF, since the rest of the room is done in oak. I'm also a month or more away from actually pulling the trigger. I've just started today looking at speakers from Axiom, Ascend, and Aperion as they are all close to my target...
Thanks for the update. I'm still undecided if I want to go with HTD Level III bookshelves all around for the 6.1 setup I'm working on. I already have the Yamaha Rxv-1300. On paper, they look good, and I like the $220/pair price point, but in the back of my mind I wonder if it would be a...
The check could have been taken two ways. 1. She's a golddigger. 2. She is ambitious and has set a goal for herself of earning 1 million in three year's time. I don't think her intention of the check was presented clearly enough and it was taken at face value that she is a gold digger...
From what I could tell of the statue, it looked to be based on African sterotypes. My guess is they clouded it out to avoid offending anyone, since we all know Fox is the most PC network out there...
You could also try Home Theater Direct Level Two's at $139.00 a pair and only 12.6 x 7.1 inches. They seem to get pretty good reviews and the new ones are front firing. Better response if you go with the Level Three's, but they are a bit bigger at 15.75 x 8.7. I haven't heard these speakers yet...
Or better yet, visit the Yamaha website. Their FAQsays:
There are many similarities between these two product lines. The RX-V line and the HTR line are produced in the same Yamaha factory using the same high quality parts throughout. The RX-V and equivalent HTR models have the same warranty...
The home page said there would be a review of "SPIRIT: STALLION OF THE CIMARRON" up yesterday (Tuesday). I can't seem to find it, nor is there any mention of where it may be. If someone could point me to it, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks, James
On BBCAmerica, we get: Eastenders Monarch of the Glen Ground Force Changing Rooms Keeping Up Appearances ... That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Cheers, James
Mine showed up two days ago, but was held at the post office for a signature. Picked it up today. Checked this morning and Kmart still said "processing" and I never received a shipped notification. Keep the faith guys! Can't wait to get home and check it out (wife picked it up from post office)...
