Something else to consider while you have the truck apart is sound deadening. I've put RAAMmat in a few cars and it's really kept the vibrations and external noise down.
There's CarDomain Crutchfield, and PartsExpress. Also BestBuy, which you could go to and listen to the speakers first, (I just wouldn't let them install anything.)
I have a set of used 12" 4ohm JL subs in stuffed .98 cu ft truck boxes FS. 125W RMS, 250W max. They're in great shape. PIC I'm asking $110 shipped each or $200 shipped for both. Ref's are HERE
Yea my TV's got variable audio outputs; I ended up running the audio from the satellite to the TV, then to a switch, and then to the receiver. The CD player is also hooked into that switch. Got the switch @ radio shack. Good call.
Well, the satellite remote can mute the TV, so I guess the audio from the satellite would have to go through the TV before it could go to the receiver. It's not a new receiver; it's an Optimus STAV-3350. I was thinkin I could split the CD's audio connection on the receiver if I needed an...
I seem to have more stuff than my receiver can easily support. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to set it all up, and still be able to mute the audio through the satellite remote instead of the receiver's remote.
Anybody wanna help me out here...
If u put them in raid then u'll definitely lose 20Gb of space; u'd end up w/ a total of 120Gb. I'd use the WD for the OS and stuff; over the network the 8Mb cache will mean jack, so the 60Gb will do fine. And yes, put them on seperate channels.
I used high density particle board for my 10" sub. I was told i should double the walls to make up for it not being mdf, so I did. I'm no audiophile, but it sounds good to me.
After finding that it's easy to take out the front baffle, so I can make a new one easy enough, I figure I might as well go w/ sizes I'd rather have. Those would be 10" woofers, 6.5" mids, and 1" tweeters. I figure I'd cross the mids @ 800Hz, and the tweeters @ 5000Hz. To get the most out of...
Yea I planned on making boxes for the speakers. I found 8" and 5"ers that should fit in place of the existing speakers; i'd just have to cut holes for tweeters. Dunno if I wanna make a new front or just glue/screw a board onto the back of it. The latter would most likely be easier; not sure...
Thanks for the replies guys. If I were to add a cd player it might as well be attached to a laptop so I can play mp3's too. I'd like to see it restored to good musical form; I don't care about the current electronics. In fact I gutted it aside from the speakers awhile ago. My dimensions...
When my grandparents finally moved out of their house of 50 yrs, I got my grandpa's '61 Westinghouse stereo. I think this style, (console), was short-lived, as I can't find anything like it online, (even tho I've found 3 others in my neighborhood!)
When I got it the speakers were the only...
