Cool, let me know how those work out for you. Right now I am thinking of putting 2 bass traps behind the listening position. and a whole bunch of panels in front.
Interesting... I just finished reading everything on Jon's website about bass traps, but I still have a few questions. #1, Due to my room shape and placement, I would not be able to put bass traps in the front corners of the room. Maybe I can manage to fit a panel into the corners, but not a...
I guess Im just going to have to build a few. Question: Will the panels be effective for lower frequencies, or do I have to build those huge round traps and put them into the corners of the room if I want to have any effect on the lower end?
Thats exactly what I attempted to do :) The only problem is the sub is a 142L Shiva and the thing weights about 100pounds, and measured 25" on each side of the cube box. This makes placement options rather limited. I found the best places out of the possible locations and left it there. It...
Aren't nulls caused by destructive interference with the reflecting waves? The bass trap should eliminate the reflected waves and eliminate the nulls. From my understanding at least.
Hey everyone, Im having some time off work and I would like to acousticly treat my room while I have some spare time. I've been looking around but failed to find any definitive guides on how to build a good bass trap. What I find sometimes is that my sub is working like mad, and the whole...
I was actually thinking of selling everything if I can get a buyer. I can probably get $500CAD locally for it, providing the superglue holds out. And I think it will. EDIT: Thats $500 for the Shiva, AVA250 Plate amp, and box. Finished in red oak veneer.
Thanks for all the replies. I think I will wait for either the new Shivas or the Atlas 12s to be in stock. I don't really want to drop in another Shiva, since I've been itching to upgrade anyway. In the meanwhile, I have carefully superglued the spyder in the places that it ripped, and so...
Well... I think I finally killed my Shiva. I knew this would happen someday, because I put it through some pretty rough LFE tracks :) There is a rip in the yellow surround stuff underneath the cone, Im not sure what the proper term is. But it attaches to the cone just above the voice coil...
Hey everyone, I've been trying to sift through all of the DVD threads to find what Im looking for, but nothing seems to point to what I need. What I need is a $200-300 DVD player, with either good component picture quality. My TV also has HDMI, but I use my receiver's HD switching between SAT...
Yeah, it's a shame though that the cable provider in my area has barely any HD channels, so I didn't even bother to buy the HD cable box; maybe when there is a decent selection. Maybe I will try sattalite too. On the upside, even standard channels look surprisingly good on this TV when...
After about two years of slow building, my Home Theater is nearly complete. Well, it is complete, it's just missing a few things that could make it even better :) This is not a dedicated HT room, but I belive i got the most of it. Long story short, here are the pics...
Then I still have to run the DVI to HDMI cable, theres no point in getting a new video card. I've seen the VGA to DVI adapters at work, and they're perfectly fine. It's really a question of Component vs HDMI over a long distance.
Hey everyone, Just recently, I became the owner of a 51F510 Hitachi HDTV, and this thing is awesome :) I will post pics of my HT when I'm done cleaning up. However, I have a quick question about connecting my ATI 9600 AIW card to the TV. The card has 2 VGA outputs instead of VGA + DVI, so...
Alright, that sounds great. And I guess for the price of the 51F510 you really cant beat it right now. I guess I was just wondering If I will have a lot less worries with an LCD RPTV rather than CRT. Is there really no burn in? THe picutre quality can be slightly sacrifies to get worry free...
Hey everyone, Lately, I've been doing quite a bit of reasearch as I was thinking about upgrading to an RPTV. The TV in question is a Hitachi 46 or 51F510, which from what I've heard and seen is a great set. Now, here is the scenario: The TV is going into a 'bonus room where' my HT is and...
I got them from Sounds of Music in Calgary, the price includes GST, and there is no PST in alberta, so that price includes everything. They were listed for $1900CAD, but I got 25% off, plus +60 for the shielding option, comes out to just under 1600CAD. What have you paid for your 40s?
Alright, its a done deal. Went down today and ordered the Studio 60's v.3 in a rosewood finish. Should be here in about two weeks, I cant wait  In case anyone is curious, I paid $1600CAD for the shielded versions, with works out to about $1150USD. I think it was a pretty good deal.
So I went down to my local Paradigm dealer today, and decided to go with the Studio 60s v.3! It's a great speaker really, the only problem is that he doesn't have them in stock, so I have to wait a week while he orders them :frowning: One question, I have to pick a color, but only the...
Keep one more thing in mind: TV's can get hot. Make sure there is proper ventalation as the heat can build up quite quickly and cause some damage. As for the speaker, I don't suppose it would be an option to take the bottom half apart so that it becomes flush with the wall?
I was inspired by the other thread to ask this question. The only locations I have to mount the rear speakers, is behind the seating position, on the ceiling. They would like at a about the same distance as the mains, and angle down to aim at the listener. The speakers at hand are...
Between a CD and MP3. I know there has been much debate on this, I'm just curious how many people on an actual audio forum can tell the difference. And I'm not talking about 128kbps stuff, im talking 320kbps LAME encoded Mp3s. For me, I prefer CD's / DACD for 'dedicated' listening...
I've done it. Using about 50' of CAT5 cable, you solder the ends, and either put shrink tubing around the place you soldered, or electrical tape. I used tape because there wan't enough room there to fit shrink tubing. Works great, and the picture remained perfect.
Alright, this is the last call. Ive modeled some designes, and came up with a 125L box tuned to 25Hz. The dimentions are 14" High, by 16" deep, by 34" wide. I've also desided to go with a slot port. The design calls for a physical port length of 21.96", with the port being 14" by 2". Since...
