*Tosses magic water on dust covering ancient Magnepan thread...sees remnants of the Legend of the Alans, honorary Alans, and 6...looks around...small pieces of mylar on the ground...distant memories of planar magnetic sound reproduction faintly fills the air...*
I'd love to win because, as a Registered Nurse, I spend many hours a week focusing on others...and it would be amazing to have such an amazing product as this beautiful Pioneer receiver to take my humble HT to another level.
Thanks for the opportunity!
Anyone out there?
Dean, sorry to hear about your knee, brother...how you holdin' up?
I'm sure you'll get tons of enjoyment out of those Salks
Meanwhile, I just moved into a new apartment that I love, and I have my Maggies singin!
Anyone still checking in?
Hey guys! Just checking in....have finally been having some visitors over to experience the rig, and the feedback has been glowing! Don't really have my eyes and any upgrades right now, as I'm just enjoying the fruits of my labor.
BTW, 6, diggin the new look of the website!
Hey guys...
Thought I'd check out the new look of the site...I dig it!
Just picked up another toy, so thought I'd mention it to you guys, too....I have been looking at multi-channel analog preamps for a while now, cause I was getting frustrated with trying to find a new pre/pro or even...
Hey guys...just wanted to tell you that i won't be sending the Marchand back. Biamping really helps get some separation among the instruments and vocals...This thing is built like a tank, too!
Hi Alec: Honestly, if you're only using your 20s for rear duty, I'm sure the current studio line will be fine. Paradigm makes some great speakers (it's how I started in HT, and I've owned Atoms, Minis, Monitor 5s, Monitor 11s, Studio 20s and studio 100s), and if that's the company you want to...
Hey, Dean!
Marchand has two units that are recommended for the Maggies...the XM44 and a tubed version (forget the model number). He says that both are excellent, and the tubed version is on sale for $1800 right now, but I went with the XM44 because supposedly it's extremely transparent. The...
BTW, what do you guys think of those cool new MiniMaggies?? I can't wait to give those a listen! I also can't wait to see how much of an impact they have in the marketplace...I think we may see a whole new group of Maggie owners coming on board by the summer!
lol, I'm workin' on that! :D
I have Mye stands on the way, and I also spoke with Phil Marchand and decided to order an XM44 crossover designed to the HP, LP, and slope specs that Magnepan recommends in the owners manual. Phil also was kind enough to throw in an extra module for free so that I...
Thanks, Dean!
I'm really excited to get back into Maggies...I feel as if I had some of the absolute best "boxes" you can get for my price range and I enjoyed them for the last three years. But ultimately there are just things they can't do, as we all know. Maggies aren't for everyone...
Thanks, P! It feels great to be getting back into some Maggies. I plan to separate my systems and have Maggies in one, and some DeVore monkeys in the other. These are far and away my two favorite speaker companies and I really can't see myself ever needing anything else. On top of that, they're...
Well...I know I'm pretty much talking to myself in here...but I figured I'd go ahead and post this anyway...
I have officially returned to the Magnepan family! Maggie and I have spent a lot of time and had many heart to mylar conversations over the past few weeks, and I'm happy to say that...
A $1200 budget will certainly bring you upgraded sound. Having a "real" HT subwoofer in the mix alone will make a huge difference. I was afraid you were going to say you had much less of a budget and just wanted another HTiB solution. Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's just that...
I've always found the upgrade difference is much more significant with music than it is with HT. That being said, assuming you have a budget that will allow you more than a negligible upgrade, I agree with Doug that you'll certainly notice a difference. Tell everyone your budget and describe the...
:D It's just rare in this hobby to have a product or a company you can stay with for (literally) years and be as happy today as you were back when you first discovered them, you know? I probably change my gear a little less often than most folks in this hobby, but I do still change/upgrade...
SVS will kick the ever lovin' BEJEESUS out of those brands. When I was watching "The Incredible Hulk" a few weeks ago, my PB13 Ultra was very convincingly conveying the impression that the Hulk was stomping right through my listening room. SVS rules!
Great to hear from ya, P!

Seems like this little thread of ours is dwindling....so I thought I'd spice it up by saying that I may have Maggie back for a fling in the next month or so :D
Dual Vandersteen subs was my first exposure to a REAL bottom end...I still remember hearing it for the first time at the little audio shop back in Upstate NY. I think they'd be a fantastic addition to the Maggies!
Hello, my friend! I was actually going to send you a PM the other day when I got my DAC, cause I wanted to tell you I was finally finished messing around with my gear and see if you wanted to stop over for a listen sometime. I'm pretty happy with how things are sounding, but it's always nice to...
Hey guys...Just thought I'd post a couple of pics of my system...I'm still in love with Maggie, I'm just having an affair with monkeys for the time being :D

Hope all is well with you guys! :D
You do need a receiver for each stereo you want to hook it up to, yep. As for the radio station, I'd suggest you just download the software and play around with it. That's what I did before I bought the product and it really helped. I know there are a ton of online radio stations to listen to...
P: Vinyl and Maggies? I'd love to hear that! It's going to sound awesome :D BTW, nice C-J preamp! I'm still learning about tubes, but so far I'm having a lot of fun. I'm a sucker for really good vocalists, and I like the added richness and warmth that tubes can bring out in the recording...good...
