From what I understand the HD3 chip is actually inferior to the newer HD2 chips. It's cheaper to make. Do a search for more info as it gets very very confusing.
I'm looking at buying one of these but i know it's been out for over a year. Does anyone know if it is being replaced soon or any info on th ereplacement model? THank you all.
I'd like to know too. I'm on the verge of picking up a 50 inch DLP from Samsung but I hear this talk about new models. I'm not sure if they are adding models or replacing.
I was at Sears today and their compuer systems are a bit quirky (I was trying to buy a vacuum). Talk to the manager. The system should let you order one unless it is super backordered (which rarely happens). Perhaps their systems aren't as sophisticated as the ones at the Great Indoors. If we...
Why not step up to the XBR which carries the 2 year parts/labor warranty standard? I'd skip it myself. I've never had a tube TV break until at least the 10 year mark.
I checked on the 46 inch on the computer system and no it has NOT been discontinued. It is on backorder though until March 3rd. I think you should give Sears a call back and talk to the manager. They should be able to accomodate your needs whatever they are. Not sure about Sears but Great...
I like the Samsungs and planning on picking up a 50 incher pretty soon. It's picture quality was just superior to anything else I have seen thus far apart from maybe LCOS and the price is unbeatable.
Here'd be my choices although you may go over budget: Denon 3803 $1199 Denon DVD-900 - $299 Samsung 50 inch DLP - $4000 YOu can probably get discount if you buy both together to get you under that $4500 price cap. Bad part? No HDTV tuner included at that price. I don't really care since...
If you have DVI out you should be able to connect to any TV with DVI input. The Samsung you can use XGA. No downside apart from cost that I can see. You do have to change the bulb inside after 8000 hours of use but that's easy to do and the bulbs are not that expensive. They say contrast isn't...
The Hitachi is certainly a great RPTV and allows some budget money for compponents and wiring. Now as for DVI, not many DVD players have DVI out yet but will pretty soon. Now may I make another suggestion? Take a look at the 50 inch DLP Samsung. I love the picture quality and it takes up much...
I watched the superbowl on a 50 inch Toshiba in HD and it was jaw dropping. LOVED it. I am definately stepping up to HD VERY soon. I think you have to look into getting HD signal soon to really reap the benefits of the set you have.
I pay paled a few days ago. Just to make this suggestion again, I think we should have a logo underneath our name if we donated. It will encourage everyone to at least make a small donation to help maintain this great site. It worked great for a few other sites I've been involved with. You'd be...
I also made this suggestion to the person I pay paled. It worked great with some other sites I'm on and really encourages people to donate at least a few dollars. I made my donation already so I should be a card carrying member now. :)
Remote for the SWX is excellent. It also comes with mini 2nd remote which is very handy and probably all you'll ever use. With AV net function all the controls can be done through the on screen display using just 5 buttons on the mini remote (4 arrows and enter). It's very slick. Go check it...
Hitachi SWX definately, quality aside the Hitachi has a MUCH better analog picture, many more features and is easier to use. That AVnet function is very handy and you have a place for your center speaker, the Sony doesn't. Lastly, it's a lot better with glare and has two great remotes.
The XBR although not a new model is still very good picture quality and yes you can pick up all your local HD broadcasts for free using an antenna. I cheap one is the Zenith silver something or other. They have it at Circuit City for about $45. I too agree, go with seperates on the hoem theater...
I'd have to say Hitachi also but I'd go SWX. It has a pretty good non-reflective screen, much more features and a better picture than the Sony IMO. It also has a lot better internal speakers in case you don't want to turn the surround on at night.
That's correct Gordon. I actually didn't know the RCA had them both but it should be noted that only the XWX Hitachi has them both. Lesser models only have DVI. I don't understand why they don't just put both on all the sets. * edit . I must have been sleeping when I wrote the original post. Sorry.
Actually you HAVE to use component cables to transmit HD (or DVI/ieee). Shameless plug but if you have a Great Indoors nearby check them out. They have higher end stuff and are owned by Sears and yes we do use component video cables as well as progressive scan DVD players to demo stuff. :) I...
The Canton's are outsanding and priced well for what you get. Never was much of a Klipsch fan myself. Grab some of his CD's and go give them both a listen.
I vote Hitachi. I think it looks stunning on DVD progressive. Which DVD player are they using? Try the Phillips with the Faroudja chip, that unit is amazing. I think Panasonic and Onkyo also have some with the Faroudja chip.
