New Toshiba 26HF84 TV..what display setting should I use for each of my viewings

One other note, the manual doesn't correctly tell you what "natural" does. As I just found out it always gives you grey bars on the side and is for use in viewing 4:3 undistorted ONLY! See my thread on "Toshiba 65HDX82 picture size". Good luck with your new TV.

    Toshiba 65HDX82 picture size

I never thought of that. Again, thanks to all. This forum is great. Even when manufacturers won't help (with a $3000 product), and local service people don't really understand what I am asking, you guys come through.;)

    Toshiba 65HDX82 picture size

OK, that is what I wanted to know. Kind of a useless setting isn't it? Now I can relax and enjoy the "full" setting. What started my looking into the different picture settings was viewing one of the "super" wide screen movies that leaves black bars above and below the picture, afraid that it...

    Toshiba 65HDX82 picture size

Again, according to Toshiba's manual, "Natural" should show grey bars on each side when viewing 4:3 input, and full screen when viewing 16:9 input. They even show a picture of it with full screen with the following caption: "Wide-screen (16:9) picture in Natural size". Also, the section in...

    Toshiba 65HDX82 picture size

My manual says that the picture size "Natural" should give a full screen, undistorted picture when viewing 16:9 formated pictures. My TV has always had the grey bars on both sides of the picture in "Natural", no matter what I am viewing (DVD set to 16:9 wide output - wide screen movie, satellite...

Want DishNetwork HD, DVR, and DVD recorder

There are occaisional programs that I would like to archive (like the history changing space flight by Rutan documented by Discovery) which are recorded on my 510. Also, I have a bunch of tapes that I would like to convert to DVD.

Want DishNetwork HD, DVR, and DVD recorder

OK, if I junk (sell) the 510 and get the 811, can I feed the output to something like the Pioneer DVR-810H-S (DVD recorder with hard disk and TIVO) and get all my pause/record/etc. that I am used to with the 510? Even better, if this concept would work maybe I can find a recorder with a DVI...

Want DishNetwork HD, DVR, and DVD recorder

I presently have a fairly new DVR 510. The Dish 811 would give me HD for a somewhat reasonalble cost of $400, but won't work with my DVR. I guess one of the new generation DVD Recorders would fit into the mix, but I am not sure how. The 921 is just too expensive since it does not include a DVD...

65hdx82 dark pictures on some programs

I finally received my Avia disk and reset all my settings. It took me a while because at first I didn't realize that the settings weren't saved for all of the different inputs (Boy! The factory default for contrast on a couple of the inputs was 100%). These were my results: Contrast: 54...

65hdx82 dark pictures on some programs

I just got my new 65hdx82 and the picture was spectacular. I then lowered the contrast per the opinions of people on this forum (right now at 45%) and most programs are great but SOME programs (not just the source or channel) are too dark to watch. Last night while watching Law and Order (over...
