I was looking at the Infinity Alpha 37c, since I did hear good reviews for the entire speaker package. My only thought was, with the receiver I have, is it better for me to go a little higher end on the speakers? I've know its a good idea to spend twice as much on speakers as you do on a recevier.
I had a Viper remote start on my wifes car for 2 years until we sold it (the car). In the winter, she had everything left on high for when she would start it. (Heat on full blast, defrost on). We never had any problems at all with the battery, alternator or starter. She had a Nissan Altima, and...
Just thought I'd add a little something to this thread. I noticed people talking about Half Life 2 and upgrading their CPU's when the game comes out. The video card is where your first upgrade should be. That will have 70% of the impact on your game playing. Not to mention that HL2 is said to be...
What is a good center speaker match for a Denon 4802? All my speakers need to be upgraded, but I am doing this slowly, starting with the center channel.
I am moving into a new house, and the location I want to put my Home Theater does not have a basement under it, and the room is finished. Is there a website that might give me some tips on running speaker cable, and cable that might work well in this situation? Also, my receiver is 7.1. Is there...
One other thing, is do you get weird characters and glitches on boot up during the bios? Or is it only during games? If you are getting it at bootup, it may be a card gone south. If its just certain games, drivers or software may be the fix.
How often will you be backing up? Are the backups going to be backed-up and then never used again? Or will you be overwriting the backups ever? If it is just going to be backed up once and stored without being used again for backup, then I would go with the tape. If you are going to be using the...
Tivo announced that they are coming out with an HDTV recorder possibly the end of this year. Whats the advantages of using the PC as a PVR as compared to a Tivo? I currently have a Tivo, and with all the options I have, plus a handy remote. I paid $75 for my 35 hour Tivo, and with the ability to...
It's been awile since I set up a tape backup, but are you erasing the tape or just overwriting the tape on each backup? This happened to me once upon a time, but I can't quite remember the problem. I believe there was a setting to supress the renaming of tapes. Sorry I can't be any more help on...
If the fan is making noise and goes away when you slap it, that means the fan is going out. Probably dirty, or the motor is giving up the ghost! I would replace the fan. They are pretty cheap!
Also with Dell and other PC manufacturers, correct me if I'm wrong, but if you install a faster video card, atempt to overclock, or other such tweaks, this voids your warranty.
Well, we won't start this again. But we all know my feelings on NTFS! Either way, I would try to get as far away as possible from Windows 98. The recovery CD is pretty much worthless if you ask me. It installs the OS and all the other useless software HP feels you need. Get fresh install of the...
Just depends on what was installed. But usually there is a fan in the front of the case, one in the power supply. Some CPU's just put a big heatsink and no fan, but tehre could be a fan there too. Do any of the fans seem real dirty or are moving at a slow pace? It could have been 3 things that...
If you arent going to build it yourself, then I would go with Falcon as well. They make some screaming machines. But building your own is much more fun!
I'm going with John on this one. If you have critical files, get another HD and format with a new OS. HP does have all their drivers onlineso you can get them all there. You may want to try getting a newer OS, maybe XP. It probably has all the drivers available. What do you think John...FAT32...
I never overclocked an older CPU but have the newer ones. One thing is that you may want to make sure there is enough voltage getting the CPU when overclocked. Unfortunately, I dont know how to check that on the older MB's as its all set in BIOS now.
It's not an alarm, and does sound like a fan going out. Just for kicks, open the case and look at the all the fans and make sure there are no wires touching any fans. If it sounds like it is coming from a fan, look to see if the fan appears to be moving slow, and try unplugging the fans to see...
What OS are the two PC's running on? Can you share a folder out on each drive and see them from each others computers? Your best option may be to just set up an internet connection sharing.
Tonight I'm doing some serious calibration on my TV to see if I can fix the problem. I'll let you know what I find out. I do have a copy of Avia and all the information on the Service Menu. Wish me luck!
Well, the good thing is that when the TV was purchased, I bought the 5 year warranty. I do have a real good friend that works there and he did say if the problem doesnt get fixed, I can get a new TV. Let's hope that goes through. I had quite an argument with the tech that came out to look at...
