Studio 60's in front Studio CC Studio 20's for surrounds (All are v2) SVS 20-39 PCi Marantz 7300 receiver It took me a year of research and saving to put this together. I started out looking at Titans, then Monitor 5's/Mini Monitors and finally looked at Studios since I live...
Al - I recently purchased floor samples of the v2 60's and 20's in the black laminate and have no regrets whatsoever. I also purchased a CC, but it was not a demo. As long as there are no scratches or anything, I think that the money saved is well worth it. Besides, they already have been broken...
Just returned from LiveWire Audio in Windsor, where I picked up one of the last v2 Studio CC's. They have the v3 line in stock now, so I took a look at them. Very nice! However, the pricing is about 20% more than v2. I'm sure there is a comparable quality upgrade to justify that, but for me...
I was told today that the Studio line is definitely going to V3. I made a trip to Canada today to purchase a setup of 40's/20's/Studio CC. Much to my surprise the dealer had no 40's or CC in stock and said they are not expecting to receive a lot more of the V2's. They'll continue to trickle in...
I would probably go with option 2 and put the speakers in that space between the opening and the bookshelves. The other consideration would be to block part of the bookshelves by putting them all the way over to the sides. I would see which one sounds better, but you may find the wider placement...
Zak - Don't know how far it would be for you, but a roadtrip to Canada might make your decision easier since you could probably get the 20's for less than what you would pay for 5's in the U.S. If you're interested, do a search to see what prices others have been able to get in Canada. I...
Thanks Mike! If I think of any specific Yamaha questions, I'll let you know. I am going to try to listen to them side-by-side. I was all set to get a Marantz 7200 - until they came out with the new models and the 7300 is now about US$150-$200 more than the price I was prepared to pay for a...
Mike - FYI....the prices I was quoted from my local dealer were (all in US $): Marantz SR7300 $900 Marantz SR6300 700 Yamaha RX-V1300 800 Yamaha RX-V730 600 Whichever receiver I end up with, I plan on keeping it for a long time. At this point, of the four listed, I would probably go...
I am in the middle of a receiver dilemma. I am putting together my first HT system and am trying to decide on a receiver. Use will probably be about 70% HT 30% music and the speakers will be either Paradigm Monitor series, or the lower level of the Paradigm Studio series, with an SVS sub. The...
I am considering two different speaker setups and am soliciting comments on them. I have narrowed my choices to: Monitor 5's, CC370 and Mini-Monitors OR Studio 20's, Studio CC and Mini-Monitors If anyone has the Studio 20's, Studio CC and the Mini-Monitors as surrounds, I would be...
I am currently in the market for a Marantz 7200 receiver and since the x300 line is out now, I figured that good deals could be had on the 7200. However, I don't have any kind of benchmark for what a good price would be at this point, so if anybody has any insight that I can use when I go in to...
OK, this thread makes me question my own upcoming decision. I was all set to get Monitor 5's, CC370 and Mini-Monitors for the surrounds, but now I've started contemplating Studio 20's/Studio CC/Mini-Monitors. Two questions - 1) Would the Mini's sound fine as surrounds with the mains and center...
For that budget, you might want to check out Monitor 5's as mains, Mini-Monitors as surrounds and a CC370. Then add an SVS sub like a 20-39 PCi or 25-31 PCi and you should be within the range you're looking at.
Gift certificates for Christmas from the local independently-owned HT store...how's that for understanding?? Now, I just have to decide what to spend it on.....decisions, decisions!!
I have a Mitsubishi WS-55819 TV and I am very, very happy with it. I can also recommend the Toshiba SD4800 DVD player. What I did was purchase both of these about 3-4 months ago and have been waiting until I could save money for the receiver/speakers/sub. I have been looking at the Paradigm...
I am looking at the CC370, Monitor 5 (v3) and Mini- Monitor (v3) and was thinking about taking the three hour drive to Windsor, ON to take advantage of the price savings and was wondering if anyone could give me the current Canadian MSRPs so I can see how much savings it is over what my local...
If you like Paradigm, then I would suggest a setup of Paradigm Titans for mains ($219), CC170 ($199) for center and Atoms ($189) for surrounds, which puts you at roughly $600 plus tax.
Alan, Thanks for the words of encouragement!! And yes, I am looking at the v.3 As many others have done, I have spent countless hours perusing this board, along with a myriad number of websites in search of my perfect setup. I will most certainly post a review when I finally get this thing put...
I think that sounds pretty good also. If you do decide to go for it, I would interested in your after-purchase review. I am debating as to what system to put together also. I have looked at this speaker combo, but have gotten upgrade-itis before even purchasing. I am looking at Monitor 5's...
At that price point, I'll throw out the suggestion of looking at the Paradigm Micros. They retail for $149. Others may have other suggestions, but give these a try - they should be about the size you're looking for.
I am just starting out in HT and just wanted some feedback regarding what I am considering. So far I have the Mitsubishi WS-55819 TV and Toshiba SD4800 DVD player. I have been looking into receivers, speakers and subs and here is what I am considering: Marantz 5200 receiver Paradigm...
