Hi could any tell me what is a good starting distance from the wall for a rear port sub. Are there any extremes, like shouldn't be closer thean xx inchs or shouldn't be further than xx inches. Cheers
Cheers for the info guys. So maybe I should play a refercence dvd. What dvd or cd's contain absoluty no sibilence. I would think dvd's and cd's without words with sibilence sounds in them. So maybe a better question is what dvd's or cd'ss contain no excess sibilence.
THey are aad c-series.

c800 are the mains c301 center and c100 surrounds.
Could a poor quality interconnect cause this? I have a HK220 and a pioneer dvd-player. I use the digital out on the pioneer for cd's and dvd's listening. I...
I don't know if the current cable is a 75 ohm coaxial. It just says high quality audio cable. Is there any way to tell. What happens if you use a analogue rca cable. Thanks
That is correct Richard. By the way can you damage tweeters if your amp clips. I do not mean destroy but alter there performance in a negative way. Or is it more a all or nothing thing. i.e. you blow your tweeters or you do not.
Thanks for the info Jeff sounds like the c-10 is a winner. By the way $700 nz is about $350 US :) . I quite like the towers, they seem to be very detailed and revealing which I am not used to. I need to break I my ear some more I think.
THe two subs I am looking at are:
aad c-10 (10" 22-200 Hz 160 watts class ab)
http://www.aadsound.com/Products%20P...ct%20page.html
or the famous
sony SA-WM40 (12" 120 Watts)
Now I can get the sony for NZ $500 and the aad $NZ 700. By the way the aad retails for $650 usa, so I am...
the AAD c-800, seem pretty good. THese are the first speakers I have brought and didn't compare them to any other ones, so my opinon is pretty useless really. Also I don't really know what makes a good speaker etc. They are a good price through and they are vey big which is cool. By the...

Steve, does this mean if the sun is set at a crossover of 80 Hz, that the mains only get the info over 80 Hz rather than a full signal. The reason I ask is a have a HK 220 and it doesn't have any bass management for stereo mode. Hence connecting a active sub to the LFE the only option for stereo...
Hi, I recently bought some aad c-series speakers and a Harmon Kardon avr-220. On dvd's and cd's I notice that the s sounds seem to be quite harsh or exaggerated. Is this pretty typical or is something causing it. I have also noticed this on other peoples systems.
Greg, In the HK 220 you cannot set the front two speakers to small in stereo mode. Hence you cannot really use the crossover for music. You have to send a full signal to your mains and all stuff under 80Hz to the sub as well.
I am looking at adding a sub to my system. At the mo my front speakers do all the bass.

Anyway the specs say these speakers go to 30Hz but I am pretty sure the dont go that low (maybe at -10dB). If I add a sub will there be a noticable...
I have a Hk 220 and speakers. I listen to music with the stereo (surround off) mode. If I have my front two speakers set to large and the sub set to: LFE + LR (what does the + L/R mean?). Will the sub be working in steoro mode or only in movies? Thanks
