I returned my Pioneer 578 DVD player for a second time for repairs, and they told me that in all likelihood that it will have to be replaced. I bought it at Best Buy and if I do get to do an exchange, I was looking at the Samsung 860 upconverting player or the Denon 566 progressive scan. I have...

I have a chance to sell my Kenwood 6.1 receiver and would like to buy a 7.1 receiver because I just finished my home theater and I have four surround speakers. My question is, with Blue Ray and HD DVD coming eventually, will my receiver have to have HDMI if I want to listen to the new surround...
I figured it out. My problem is that I split the signal before it went to the receiver. I connected the cable from the dish directly to the receiver and ran a cable from the OUT to TV to the tv in the other room. Voila! I now have a picture on both tv's. Thanks for all the replies!
I have an older 422 receiver (SD). I am connecting it to my HDTV via S-video and the tv in the other room is connected by RG6 cable. I tried the receiver on the tv's in both rooms and they are both working. But the problem is that I am not getting a picture on the tv that is not connected...
I have a Directv receiver that I want to use to watch tv in two rooms. I have done this before; I split the signal, then, depending which room I was watching tv in, use one of those wireless extenders (the name escapes me). In my new house I planned on doing the same. The problem is that I can...
I use B-1's for my surrounds and I use Vogels speaker brakets. They can hold up to 44lbs (I believe), allow you to move them up or down and side to side. I would definitely recommend them.
I saw one about a month ago at Visions in Wpg. The retail price was $699, but the salesman dropped it to $620 right away. If I'm not mistaken, the Visions extended warranty is not too expensive, though the exact amount escapes me. Hope this helps.
I was at Vision's in Wpg yesterday and they had the 1015 in stock for $699. Within a minute the salesman had dropped the price to $613. I would have picked it up, but I need to sell my Kenwood first.
I've had the DIY 142.5L Shiva EBS with a 250 amp from Parts Express. I've been very happy with the results. When friends come over they are amazed with the amount of clean bass is put out. My home theater is in the basement and you can feel the main floor vibrate, especially during the canon...
To echo the thoughts of others, I have the 47x54,calibrated with Avia. The lighting in my home theater in my basement is controlled and my numbers are similar to yours, with the exception of brightness, which I have set to 35, and sharpness set to 0. I have mine in Cinema mode and cool...
I also used a texture spray to cover my less than perfect job on filling the screw holes. If you go the texture spray route, be careful to cover up the Shiva so that no paint comes into contact with it. I'm also considering wrapping the box in a cloth "sock", a la Definitve Technology and their...
I will be getting my first big screen tv in about a month (yay!). After a lot of research, I decided on the Panasonic 47x54. I have an old Sony interlaced DVD player, which has served me well for seven years, but now it is time for a progressive scan player to go with the Panasonic. Could anyone...
I used 2" x 2" wood blocks and cut them to the recommedend length(3 1/2 inches). I then cut a sheet of MDF that was the same dimension as the box, not only to give it an "SVS" look, but it also made it a lot easier to slide the sub around on the carpet. Otherwise you would need two people to...
Hi. I've made the 142.4L Shiva EBS. I used the FP-4 (if I'm not mistaken) that is recommended on the Adire website. I got mine from Creative Sound Solutions, out of British Columbia. The port comes in three pieces, which I put together using plumber's glue (careful! it sets up really fast). Even...
I have B2's as mains with the C1 centre, and three B1's for rears. A lot of people seem to take issue with the C1, but I have no problems with mine. Check this report out: http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volum...c1-7-2003.html Hope this helps.
Sorry for the link not working, I will try to fix it tonight. This sub is a beast. I would recommend attaching a base plate to the legs to allow you to move the sub around. I think it also looks better that way, like a poor man's SVS, of which I am :p. After using the S&V setup DVD, the...
I've finished my Shiva EBS and had the pictures developed. Hope the links work, since this is my first attempt at a web page. http://www.mts.net/~breze/
When I put the box together, I attached the top to a side board, then attached all the sides after that. I made an accidental discovery when I installed the braces. I found that in order to attach the front to back braces to the side braces and center brace, that I had to use a some L brackets...
I've finished my first DIY sub, a Shiva 142.5L EBS design. I went with this design because it offered a lot of performance for home theater applications. Thanks to all of you who offered suggestions and advice during the construction process. I followed the design from the Adire website exactly...
I have recently developed a problem with losing audio while playing dvd's. I have a Kenwood 6060 and a Sony 530 dvd player. When a movie is playing, (DD or DTS), the sound mode changes to analogue and there is no sound. I've tried turning the receiver and dvd player off and on, but that doesn't...
