Ok my bad. It just seemed a little too coincidental considering how persistent the comparison of an Outlaw to higher priced brands, sans a significant price difference, was made by you Ricky. You did start the other thread about the Rotel right? And from the link you just provide you say:
This thread DECODED for your viewing pleasure: Stage One Stage Two Suppose someone started a ... Attempt at Levity Now scroll back up and read the start of this thread... interesting FIRST POST EVER from Rick- err... I mean Chris_Bald. Now back to your regularly scheduled...
Oops... found this post, which tells me my fix for red push and green level were done with bogus information.:frowning:
So, it's a good thing I remember the original settings and have put them back to where they were in the service menu.... guess I won't be poking around in there anymore.
Bobby The problem is a poor video source. I have the 40" version, and when you watch something in HD or pop in a DVD it's completely different than trying to watch standard TV signals or god forbid a STRETCHED TV signal on this set. Every flaw in the transmission of video is shown on this...
Rajeev, The way I understand it, the your hum is likely CAUSED by the fact that your receiver, or something connected to it, is grounded. That's fine, but something is generating noise in the ground circuit, and that noise is coming up the ground wire, into your receiver chassis, and out...
This is embarrassing...:b
After doing the test with my cousins, I was pretty happy to find I enjoyed listening to the M22Ti's almost as much as the Studio/40's, hence quick post.
So last night I sat down for a nice long A/B listening session again with just the M22Ti's and Studio/40's up. I...
My cousins are the farthest thing from audiophiles(just like me), I just took descriptions they used of what they heard and put it into words. They thought 'bright' sounded right, and honestly in my room they do sound pretty bright to me too. I'm using a Pioneer VSX-49TX reciever in direct mode...
Interesting day! I decided to perform a blind test of these two speakers plus throw in a Sonus Faber Concertino just for fun and use my cousins as the judges this time. If you read the other thread you know that I picked the Studio/40's all the time. Not so with my cousins! I fly out the...
Update:
It took a lot of effort(not easy to make it a really blind test), but over a couple hours my cousin helped me try several genres of music in a blind test. We could only use the beginnings of songs since my CD player does not allow reverse scanning, so he flipped a coin to determine...
If the receiver is in an enclosure and the space above it is at least 1-2 inches you could try one of these from Radio Shack, mounted with sticky tape above your receiver with the exhaust pointing toward the back(assuming that's where the ventilation is). You would have to power it via a 12V...
John, 2nd Room- seperate video and audio can be funneled to the other room, where they can be displayed/amplified. On the 49TX this is done either from the main room or with an optional IR reciever in the 2nd room. 2nd room remote control works with main room power either on or off. The...
Dustin,
I agree that knowing which speakers are playing can influence what you hear. However, I happen to own BOTH of them, not just the cheaper or more expensive pair. If the cheaper ones aren't as good I just move them to a secondary system. If the cheaper ones are as good or better I can...
Martice,
Yeah I knew somebody would mention the short break-in.:) I hear all different opinions about how long it should take, from Zero to 100 days. I've had my Paradigms for 1 week, so I guess I'm not fully 'used' to them either. I will however keep the M22Ti's playing, and use them as my...
I've been playing the M22Ti's for hours trying to break them in some more, and I'll post impressions after at least another 24hr of break-in. Jack- The M22Ti's are definitely good enough for my secondary system, they sound great. Which leads to... Robertto- You won't get an argument from...
Hi all, I was reading another thread here in HTF and people were raving about the sound of Axiom speakers, even saying someone should buy the M22Ti's over Paradigm Studio/40's. I happened to own Studio/40's and went through an extensive auditioning process before I bought them, but never had...
I think you are asking the question right, they just AREN'T sold online from authorized sources. You have to go through a brick-and-mortar retailer. I bought my Studio/40's from a local HiFi store for $509(USD) apiece. Local dealers can be found on Paradigm's site.
Also check out Salamander for some other ideas. I have a Synergy system and am very pleased with build quality and looks, plus it's infinitely expandable.
Hi all,
Just wanted to reply to a few of Alex's reasons for buying the 5803 over the 49TX, because though the Denon is an awesome receiver, the choice was not as clear to me...
Upgradeability- the 49TX has an RS-232 for upgrades as well, and an example of Pioneer's commitment to upgrade is...
I have Studio/40's, and this thread made me order two M22ti's a few minutes ago(yes I'm crazy) just to see what the talk about Axioms is all about. Whooosh! (That's the sound of more $$ crossing the border for high quality speakers):D
Something else to consider... I don't know how many watts the amps in your reciever can put out, but if you over-extend them you could get serious distortion and possibly damage your speakers. Having more powerful amps will not only clean up the sound, but would be safer for your new investment IMO.
Steve,
That is how my current HT is set up as well, and I am using 2 Studio/ADP's mounted about 6ft. off the floor, above and to either side of the couch on the rear wall. This works well, though as you can see here in Dolby's guide, there are many ways to use Studio/20's with that same setup...
The sound that reaches your ears will NEVER be exactly the same even with 5 or 7 direct radiating speakers, because of room reflections/seating position/ear shape/ect... Seems only reasonable to at least START with speakers that are timbre matched, and if you like diffuse theater-like sound use...
Well on the same line... Tomlinson Holman, the man who coined the term '5.1 channels', makes his case for using dipoles in this PDF that might be an interesting read for you.
From those I've listened too, the B&W and Paradigm loudspeakers seem to have distinctly different sound. If you are already using Paradigm, I can only imagine that sticking with them will create a more cohesive 3D sound field, for home theater at least.
Anybody ever heard of Underwriters Laboratories Inc. ? They charge you some money to test your product and then put a silly label on it. It's a big scam I say. I mean, why would I want to buy a home space heater that has the 'UL' logo on it when another one from East Jabipp looks like it puts...
